ROSE CROWNED COAST'S HORSE OF THE YEAR

Star filly Military Rose was recognised for her outstanding 2009/10 racing season when crowned the Gold Coast Horse of the Year on Thursday night.

The Gillian Heinrich prepared daughter of General Nediym was the popular winner of the city's major racing award at a special function hosted by the Gold Coast Turf Club.

Prepared, when in her home stable, just over the road from the Turf Club in Ascot Court, Military Rose won all but one of her runs last season.

After a string of wins she was sent out the favourite in the $2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic in January and in one of the most dominant performances in the race's history, she stormed home well clear of her rivals.

Military RoseBred in New South Wales by Reg Ryan and Brian Cruphy, Military Rose was sold by Middlebrook Valley Lodge for $155,000 at the 2009 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

She rounded out her juvenile season with five wins from six starts and earned the Heinrich Bloodstock Syndicate  a stunning $1.527 million.

Military Rose is among the acceptors for Saturday's Danehill Stakes at Flemington and connections will keep an eye on the weather before making a final decision as to whether she runs or not.

Her yearling half brother by Haradasun has been entered for January's 2011 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

At the same function Gold Coast premiership winners John Morrisey (34 wins), Daniel Griffin (64 wins) and Mitchell Wood (35 wins) were presented with their respective trainer, jockey and apprentice awards.

SHOOT OUT'S HALF SISTER ANOTHER MILLIONS DRAWCARD

The 2011 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale has received yet another boost with news that the outstanding half sister to Shoot Out will go under the hammer in January.

Shoot Out has emerged in the past 12 months as one of the country's finest gallopers with a swag of group race wins.

On Saturday he caught the eye when he flew home to run third in the Memsie Stakes behind Cox Plate winner So You Think.

Prior to that the gelding had won three straight group races including the Group One Australian Derby.

His outstanding 2009/10 racing season was capped on Saturday night when he was announced as Queensland's Horse of the Year at a function in Brisbane.

Shoot Out is one of two Classic winners produced (from two to race) for the grand producing Pentire mare Pentamerous.

She is also the dam of the Western Australian Oaks winner Cassandara Shadow.

The mare's latest yearling, a black or brown filly, is by exciting young Queensland based sire Ferocity - already the sire of seven first crop winners.

Earlier this year the filly's full sister made $160,000 at the Gold Coast and this was before Shoot Out had won twice at Group One level.

Shoot OutThe filly heading to this January's sale will be prepared by renowned horsewoman Robyn Wise.

Magic Millions Managing Director David Chester said the filly would be yet another highlight lot at Australia's most popular thoroughbred auction.

"She's a smashing filly," Chester said. "A really lovely individual and she comes with one heck of a pedigree."

"In recent times Shoot Out has proven himself one of the great gallopers of the region with many great wins and he's on track for the Cox Plate in October."

"To be offering his half sister at our sale in January is a great honour and I can't wait to see how she continues to develop between now and then."

The half sister to Shoot Out joins a growing list of outstanding entries for this premier thoroughbred event - with the half brother to Starspangledbanner booked in to the sale along with the first foal of champion mare Miss Andretti.

Also heading to the sale is the outstanding full sister to Saturday's Group One Golden Rose winner Toorak Toff - highlighting a quality draft from Glenlogan Park.

And Strawberry Hill Stud will present the half sister to the outstanding mare More Joyous by champion sire Redoute's Choice.

GOLDSTONE STARS ON DEBUT FOR BART

The legendary Bart Cummings stable looks to have unveiled a stakes winner of the future at Warwick Farm this afternoon.

Goldstone, a three-year-old colt by Shamardal, impressed connections and racegoers alike when he won the Members' Terraces Handicap (1150m) on debut.

While Cummings himself is sidelined with a broken pelvis, his horses have continued on their merry way and Goldstone is the latest likely prospect unleashed on the racetrack.

Goldstone (inside)Cummings selected and purchased Goldstone for $220,000 from the Segenhoe Stud draft at last year's Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

The legendary trainer's grandson and foreman James Cummings said connections had always had a good opinion of the exciting three-year-old.

"We sent Kudakulari down to Melbourne and he'll go towards the (Caulfield) Guineas and thought we might keep this bloke around for the Spring Champion Stakes."

"He's in the race and I think when he gets up in trip he might even be more dynamic."

James Cummings"He's produced a very good turn of foot today and he's built upon what he's shown us at the trials."

"Hopefully he continues to improve and reach some pretty high levels in his first preparation."

Goldstone is by the same sire as Cummings' VRC Oaks winner Faint Perfume.

"He's by Shamardal and we've got a pretty good mare in the stable by him."

"Hopefully he (Goldstone) might reach her heights," Cummings wrapped up.

Winning rider Tim Clark likened Goldstone to one of the stables other three-year-old Group One winners from last season.

Goldstone"We've done plenty of work on him at home and he's always impressed me."

"He'll only improve from that too. He reminds me a lot of Rock Classic."

"Hopefully he can go on from here - but I think he might have a nice, bright future," Clark commented.

Goldstone, by Giant's Causeway's hot sire son Shamardal, is the second winner produced by the once winning Peintre Celebre mare La Camille.

A half sister to two stakes performers including the Silver Shadow Stakes winner Katima, La Camille is also the dam of the twice Hong Kong winner Brave Heart.

SHELLSCRAPE GETS HIS DESERVED GROUP ONE

Winner: Shellscrape (Dane Shadow-Kisma)
Race: AJC Galaxy Stakes G1 (1100m)
Sold for: $40,000
Sale: 2007 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale
Vendor: Kitchwin Hills (As Agent)
Buyer: Vin Cox Bloodstock
Earnings: $710,500
Owner(s): GL & Mrs M Grimish & GJ & Mrs LM Loiero
Trainer: Chris Waller (Rosehill)

ShellscrapeClassy sprinter Shellscrape has been credited with a deserved Group One win following a stewards inquiry in Sydney today.

Ortensia has been stripped of her win in the Group One Galaxy Stakes at Randwick on April 17 after an inquiry into her returning a positive swab.

Stewards, fronted by chairman Ray Murrihy, disqualified the mare and promoted Shellscrape to first place - followed by Swift Alliance (2nd) and Styker (3rd).

The win made history with Shellscrape the first Group One winner for his sire, the Kitchwin Hills based Dane Shadow.

Shellscrape had prior to the Galaxy also won the Group Two Roman Consul Stakes, Group Three San Domenico Stakes and listed Australia Post Stakes.

His record is enhanced to now read out at six wins and nine minor placings from 21 starts and earnings of over $710,000.

Shellscrape was purchased by leading Sydney based bloodstock agent Vin Cox for $40,000 at the 2007 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale at the Gold Coast.

ShellscrapeKitchwin Hill's Mick Malone was glad the result of the inquiry had finally been announced over four months after it was run.

"It's been a long wait," he said. "It's a very deserved Group One win and we're glad the horse has been recognised now."

"Shellscrape has form around so many of the great horses - horses like Starspangledbanner and Headway."

"And that day in the Galaxy he copped a check as well as was pretty unlucky and the margin wasn't much on the line."

Malone said the result would help Dane Shadow continue his rise through the siring ranks.

"We're really excited about his future," Malone said. "Now is certainly the time to be considering Dane Shadow."

"Last season he served his best ever line up of mares - mares like Eskimo Queen, Dan Baroness and Shady Stream - the dam of Takeover Target and Predatory Pricer."

Shellscrape"Each crop has been better for Dane Shadow. His crop who've just turned two are from better mares, they're nicer horses, there are more of them and they are with better trainers."

"He's really getting the recognition he deserves - and we're certainly looking forward to the next couple of seasons."

Malone said his team is looking forward to January's Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

"We're looking at having our biggest ever draft for the Gold Coast," he said. "We have some serious yearlings set to head north."

Today's announcement of the amended Galaxy result enhanced the outstanding 2009/10 racing season for Magic Millions graduates.

Some 5,214 races in Australia were won last season by graduates of Magic Millions sales and those wins collected for their connections well over $84 million.

Shoot Out's barnstorming 2009/10 racing season was capped on Saturday night he was crowned Queensland's Horse of the Year.

The connections of the outstanding four-year-old were presented with the major award at the glittering function at Sofitel Brisbane.

Adding to the Horse of the Year honour, the trainer and regular rider of Shoot Out, John Wallace and Stathi Katsidis, swept away with the major trainer and jockey awards.

A few hours before being crowned Queensland's best, Shoot Out ran an eye catching third to Cox Plate winner So You Think in the Group Two Memsie Stakes at Caulfield.

Despite covering more ground than any other runner, Shoot Out was able to produce the quickest final 200 metres in the race.

Shoot OutIt was Shoot Out's efforts during the recently completed 2009/10 racing season that saw him win Sasturday night's major award.

He won four races during the season including the Group One double of the Randwick Guineas and AJC Australian Derby.

CAULFIELD CUP PLANS FOR SPACECRAFT LIFT OFF

Winner: Spacecraft (Galileo-Demanding)
Race: SAJC Penny Edition Stakes LR (1400m)
Sold for: $85,000
Sale: 2008 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale
Vendor: Racetree
Buyer: Peter Caporn
Earnings: $163,238
Owner(s): PR & Mrs KJ Caporn & BL & Mrs JM McRostie
Trainer: Mick Price (Caulfield)

SpacecraftCaulfield Cup ambitions for classy four-year-old Spacecraft received a great boost on Saturday when he won the listed Penny Edition Stakes (1400m) at Morphettville.

An entire by Galileo, Spacecraft gave his connections plenty to cheer about when he notched his first stakes success at his second start for a new stable.

He was sent out one of the leading chances in the race after an eye catching first up effort in the recent Aurie's Star Handicap at Flemington.

New trainer Mick Price, watching from Caulfield, was impressed with the win and also the heady front running ride from Group One winning hoop Dean Holland.

"He's only an 85 rate - he was in a 1400 metre handicap here (at Caulfield) and he didn't get a run so that (in Adelaide) was our back up race," Price said.

Spacecraft"I've got a good opinion of him. Now being a weight-for-age winner I'm hoping his rating goes up so that he can get off the minimum in handicaps."

"I think his best distance is 2000 metres and I'm hoping it's 2400 metres."

"Hopefully I can find a 2000 metre handicap race for him and then get a run in the Caulfield Cup - that's the way I want to go."

"He's a lovely Galileo galloper. He's good winded. It was a really good in today."

Price was impressed with the way Dean Holland rode his four-year-old in the Adelaide feature.

"We drew 10 and I wanted to be outside the speed. And he said, what about if we lead."

Spacecraft"I said - I'm pretty sure that will be okay because from memory he's not a stargazer when he's out in front."

"We've spent a lot of time in getting him to relax - he's a very tenacious horse when you work him with company."

Spacecraft ($4.60) cruised home to beat Magical Pearl ($11) by a length and three quarters.

Viking Turf Belle ($21) was third home, a further length and a quarter back.

Xaieta ($10) was fourth ahead of last year's Melbourne Cup favourite Alcopop ($6.50) while the favourite Majestic Music ($3.20) paddled in the straight to finish seventh.

Spacecraft was purchased by senior part owner Peter Caporn for $85,000 at the 2008 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Spacecraft and Dean Holland returnThe Racetree sold youngster has already earned over $163,000, is still a colt and has Group One spring features on his radar. He certainly looks another great value buy from the Gold Coast.

Spacecraft is one of two stakes winners for his dam, the twice Perth winning Octagonal mare Demanding.

As well as Spacecraft she is the dam of the dual stakes winner and WA Derby placed Phenomenons.

Demanding herself is a half sister to three stakes gallopers including multiple stakes winner Victory Dash. She is from a stakes winner in Sydney as well.

Her latest yearling, a filly by Danehill's record breaking sire son Rock of Gibraltar, has been entered for the 2011 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale by the team from Racetree.

SNOW ALERT TOO GOOD IN PREMIER'S CUP

Winner: Snow Alert (Red Ransom-Flurry)
Race: STC Premier's Cup LR (1800m)
Passed for: $190,000
Sale: 2007 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale
Vendor: Stratheden Stud
Reserve: $200,000
Earnings: $395,180
Owner(s): Stratheden Stud Syndicate (Mgr: CB Marheine)
Trainer: Chris Waller (Rosehill)

Snow AlertRed hot Sydney trainer Chris Waller thinks talented performer Snow Alert could be a Group One contender following an easy win in today's $100,750 listed Premier's Cup (1800m) at Rosehill.

A winner of the listed Rowley Mile earlier in the year, Snow Alert is set to be tested over longer distances by his trainer as he looks to the future.

"We were very positive today from a bad barrier," Waller said.

"He was used up early. He had to get going a little early and he was probably out of his comfort zone but he fought on very well."

"Everything's coming together with him and if he can get past 2000 metres he might be able to be a Group Two or Group One horse."

Snow Alert"The better track today certainly helped him and hopefully we can get a few more," Waller added.

Waller said the gelding was an entry for the Wyong Cup, but thought a race like the Metropolitan could suit.

"He is nominated for Friday at Wyong, but we don't have to go backing him up so early this prep - so we'll see."

The Newcastle Gold Cup is a race connections are seriously considering prior to any decision on the Metropolitan.

In the race to the line this afternoon Snow Alert ($5) had a length margin over the early leader and favourite Scouting Wide ($3.50).

Abitofado ($10) edged out Gergis ($10) to snatch third place, a half head behind the runner-up.

Snow AlertA graduate of the 2007 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Snow Alert has sent his earnings soaring to almost $400,000 - not bad considering he could have been yours for just $200,000.

By former leading international sire Red Ransom, Snow Alert is one of two stakes winners and four winners produced by the Groom Dancer mare Flurry.

A two time winner and twice stakes placed mare in her own right, Flurry is also the dam of the international stakes winner Fidelio's Miracle.

A daughter of the Leopardstown stakes winner Snowtop, Flurry is a half sister to Snowdrift - the dam of Australian based stars Snowland, Portillo and Snippetson.

It is also the same family as Group One winners including Prix Morny winner and exciting young stallion Myboycharlie.

TOORAK TOFF MAGIC IN GOLDEN ROSE

Winner: Toorak Toff (Show a Heart-Orong)
Race: STC Golden Rose Stakes G1 (1400m)
Sold for: $135,000
Sale: 2009 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale
Vendor: Glenlogan Park
Buyer: Bill Van Rooy
Earnings: $975,645
Owner(s): RG Hore-Lacy, W Van Rooy, T Morrissey, P Coffey, P McNamara, S Cheng & Shandy Kristo Syndicate
Trainer: Rick Hore-Lacy (Caulfield)

Toorak ToffToorak Toff confirmed his status as one of the new stars of the Australian turf with a brilliant second up win in today's $1 million Group One Golden Rose (1400m) at Rosehill.

Sent out as one of the fancied runners after a brilliant last to first win in the recent Vain Stakes at Caulfield, Toorak Toff made the step to racing's elite level in style.

Trainer Rick Hore-Lacy has always spoken highly of Toorak Toff, thinking he could be the best horse he's ever trained.

He shot to prominence last season when he scored a brilliant win in the Magic Millions Adelaide 2YO Classic.

Toorak ToffToday at Rosehill he was able to notch up a third stakes win in a third state with his outstanding half neck win.

The entire by Show a Heart will now return to Melbourne and be set for his ultimate aim this spring, the Group One Caulfield Guineas (1600m).

A $135,000 purchase by part owner Bill Van Rooy at last year's Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Toorak Toff has now earned over $975,000.

"He's a very good horse," Hore-Lacy told reporters after the race.

"His next major aim is the Caulfield Guineas - he'll probably run in the Guineas Prelude and then the Guineas."

Toorak ToffHore-Lacy had the season's first Group One race on his radar quite some time ago and admitted to having something on him in the early markets.

"One of the owners got $20 about him about a month ago, so I had something each way on him."

When asked what he thought Toorak Toff's pet trip would be - Hore-Lacy was quick to respond.

"I think 1600 (metres). He'll really enjoy the mile."

Damien Oliver, who notched a treble in winning the Group One feature, was delighted with the win.

"It was a great effort," the champion Melbourne jockey said. "He was chasing some pretty smart horses there."

Toorak Toff and Rick Hore-Lacy"There wasn't a lot left in the tank at the finish there but that's the true sign of a very good horse - when the chips were down he kept answering to the challenge."

"He's a strong horse and he's got a good turn of foot. He finished right over the top of them."

"This horse has always shown a lot of promise and he's starting to fulfil it now and all credit to Rick he can certainly find a good horse."

The result confirmed the status as the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale as the value sale of the world.

As well as the winner, who cost $135,000, it threw up the runner-up Squamosa, a $140,000 purchase for Star Thoroughbreds.

The two which cost a combined $275,000 have already earned a staggering $1,347,395 - and both have only had a handful of starts. And also importantly for connections both are still colts and look to be exciting sire prospects.

Rick Hore-LacyThe win of Toorak Toff capped a magnificent day for Queensland's Glenlogan Park Stud.

The win was the fourth on the day for their resident sire Show a Heart. Another of his winners was the Caulfield stakes victor Rightfully Yours.

They were also cheering home Ringa Ringa Rosie, by Bradbury's Luck, to a brilliant win at Doomben.

And the breeders of Toorak Toff have plenty more to look forward to.

Glenlogan are preparing a full sister to the Golden Rose winner for January's 2011 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

"She's a magnificent individual," Glenlogan's Steve Morley reported.

"She doesn't have the same big baldy face as Toorak Toff, but she's very much in the same mould."

"A real dead spit for her brother - the same physique - a really lovely filly who is sure to appeal to buyers and trainers," Morley added.

ANGEL SPROUTS WINGS IN MCNEIL

Winner: Sistine Angel (Testa Rossa-Famous Painter)
Race: MRC HDF McNeil Stakes G3 (1200m)
Sold for: $60,000
Sale: 2009 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale
Vendor: Alwyn Park Stud (As Agent)
Buyer: Andrew Noblet
Earnings: $98,050
Owner(s): D Thomas & T Curnow
Trainer: Andrew Noblet (Caulfield)

Sistine AngelSistine Angel's march toward the Group One Thousand Guineas kicked away in style when she scored a brilliant win in the Group Three HDF McNeil Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield today.

Facing the starter for the first time since three unlucky runs in the autumn, Sistine Angel has always been a filly held in high regard by her trainer Andrew Noblet.

The West Australian bred and sold group winner earned black type as a two-year-old when she ran third in the Blue Sapphire Stakes.

Today at her first run as a three-year-old, Sistine Angel produced an outstanding burst in the straight to come from last and give her rivals a start and a beating.

"It was a hard task first up," Noblet said. "She's come back from her last preparation really well and to do that first up is a great effort."

Sistine AngelNoblet said the filly should not have been going into today's event as a maiden.

"She copped a big knock here one day and probably could have nearly won."

"And then at Flemington they went really slow up front and she got back and ran on well."

The future looks bright for the Testa Rossa filly with Noblet saying she would make plenty of good natural improvement.

"She's come back pretty well. But she's got a bit of improvement in her."

"Her coat still has to come through. So hopefully she progresses well."

"I'm glad she got a bit of an infection in her leg last week as we could have run her at the Valley and she would have had no hope."

Sistine Angel"We landed here in a red hot race and it's surprised me how well she's gone first up."

"She's a nice horse and hopefully she can go a long way."

"The Thousand Guineas is her main aim. The Oaks isn't really in her plans."

"We might wait for the autumn before we look at a longer trip."

"She's got a good constitution. She's a tough little horse."

Noblet purchased the filly in Perth last year and said she was one of the nicest fillies at the Belmont Park based auction.

"I bought her in Perth and she's come a long way back here. It's nice to have a nice horse."

Andrew NobletAt the post Sistine Angel ($12-$15) held a widening head margin over the runner-up Servant ($17-$13).

Another half length back in third place was Gold Coast Yearling Sale graduate Intencion ($51).

Bred by Warren Gellard in Kalgoorlie, Sistine Angel was purchased by Noblet for $60,000 at last year's Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale.

Sistine Angel, by leading Vinery Stud stallion Testa Rossa, is one of two winners, from two runners, produced by the unraced Peintre Celebre mare Famous Painter.

Famous Painter is a daughter of the stakes winning and top producing Rancher mare Rancheetah - making her a half sister to the stakes winners Gallopini and Land Speed Record.

Her latest yearling, an attractive chestnut colt by AJC Sires' Produce Stakes winner Excites, is being prepared for February's 2011 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale.

Andy WilliamsLovetorn sent her broodmare value soaring in South Africa overnight when she steamed home to win the listed Jockey Club Stakes (2000m) at Arlington.

An Australian bred mare by Giant's Causeway, Lovetorn finished too well for the favourite Miss Scaramanga to win by a length and a quarter.

Muzi Yeni was aboard the Gavin Smith trained mare in the feature event for fillies and mares.

A $60,000 purchase for Douglas Taft at the 2007 Magic Millions National Yearling Sale, Lovetorn is part owned by Magic Millions' South African agent, World Wide Bloodstock's Andy Williams.

WAVE DANCING IMPRESSIVE AT GOSFORD

Raw ability carried promising filly Wave Dancing to victory when she broke through in the Tasman KB Plate (1600m) at Gosford this afternoon.

A lightly raced daughter of Danehill Dancer, Wave Dancing produced a strong performance to come from off the speed and win in good style for the Anthony Cummings stable.

Cummings' son and foreman Edward was impressed with the win and suggested there was more to come as the filly continued to develop.

She's still learning and I think that's what we'll take out of today."

"She's got a good motor. We' never had much doubt about that."

"Today is about getting her educated - she's learning and improving all the time."

"Just having a look at her now coming back in she's still a bit all over the place."

"She's still got a long way to go."

Wave Dancing is a graduate of the 2008 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale at the Gold Coast.

There she was offered for sale by Coolmore Stud and she made $75,000 to the bid of Lake View Stud.

With a win and a placing from just three starts, the future looks bright for the filly.

Wave Dancing is a daughter of Danehill Dancer - the sire of stars including Mastercraftsman, Private Steer, Choisir, Again, Anna Pavlova and Super Satin.

Her dam, the Justice Prevails mare Sweet Revenge, was a smart racehorse in New Zealand winning five races and placing in four stakes events.

Sweet Revernge is a half sister to the New Zealand stakes winner Coil Collection.

Meanwhile, the Kris Lees trained and Andrew Gibbons ridden El Tegra made it back to back wins in the very next event.

A four-year-old son of More Than Ready, El Tegra is another quality graduate of Prime Thoroughbreds.

An $80,000 graduate of the 2008 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, El Tegra is from the Group Two winning and Group One placed Jeune mare Jameela.

YOUEFFOH: AN IDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECT

Youeffoh as a yearling

Youeffoh is an identified flying object. Well she was today at Geelong anyway.

The nicely related Starcraft filly gave connections plenty to look forward to when she romped home in the Luxbet.com Plate (1000m).

Racing for just the second time, the Lee Freedman prepared filly showed she had a bright future ahead when she finished over the top of the field in an authoritative performance.

The filly's only previous run was a sixth, when beaten just three lengths, by subsequent Blue Diamond Stakes winner Star Witness in the listed Talindert Stakes at Flemington in January.

Part owner John O'Neill said the promising filly was raced in similar interests to former superstar galloper Mummify.

"We bought the filly as a yearling on the Gold Coast with a few friends - Mark Pejic and Billy Pearce and Danny Upfal."

"And I'm happy to get Dan (Nikolic) back on the horse.
We had a great association with him."

O'Neill said the stable has for quite a while held a good opinion of Youeffoh.

"Lee has certainly taken his time with her and hopefully we can go on and win some better races over the spring," he said.

"We had some issues first up with her and she's had some issues in work. We'll just continue to battle on - Lee will work it out."

Winning rider Danny Nikolic predicted bigger and better things from the filly - suggesting once she learned to settle in her races she would improve to another level.

"Lee's got a good opinion of her and he told me to try and find a bum - sit second or third."

"The tempo was okay early. She did start to switch off but once she learns to settle she's going to be above average."

"There was plenty there. I just let her move up coming to the turn and let her find her gait."

"When she balanced up I put a couple around her tail and she really hit the line. Today was a much better effort than the other race in town in good class."

"I think she's got the makings of a nice filly. But she's just got to learn to relax and breath," Nikolic summed up.

When the finish line was reached Youeffoh ($1.70 fav) held a two and a quarter length margin over African Heat ($7).

Another two and a quarter lengths back in third place was Wild West ($4).

By Star Witness' sire Starcraft, Youeffoh is one of four winners produced by the black type performed Danehill mare Ribot's Secret,

Twice a winner in the Northern Hemisphere, Ribot's Secret was second in a Group Three Princess Margaret Stakes at Ascot and third in a Group Three Railway Stakes at the Curragh and Group Three Senorita Stakes at Hollywood.

She was also fourth in two other group races at the Curragh.

Ribot's Secret's other three winners are also multiple victors in Japan and one of her daughters is also a proven winner producer.

DOLL PROVES HER CLASS IN TOWN

Dancing Doll notched a valuable metropolitan win in Sydney on Wednesday when she flew home to win at Canterbury.

Under the urgings of Rod Quinn the well related mare was able to rattle home on the inside rail to grab the lead and win impressively.

Winning trainer Guy Walter was delighted the daughter of Danehill Dancer was able to capture her first city race.

"She certainly appreciated being back on the dry track," Walter pointed out.

"She showed a really good turn of foot. It was the best run of her life by far."

"Rodney rode her beautifully, I was a bit concerned about her coming to the turn - at Canterbury and getting shuffled back."

Dancing Doll was purchased by Jamie Walter's Proven Thoroughbreds for $100,000 at the 2007 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

"I'm very happy," Jamie Walter said. "That's our first city winner for the season actually."

"She cost $100,000 and was bred by Gerry Harvey's Baramul Stud and as you can see she's a beautiful type."

Winning rider Rod Quinn was taken aback by the way Dancing Doll sprinted when asked after straightening for home.

"She didn't have the best winning strike rate going in - but I just said to Guy when she wins she doesn't mess around."

So fast was Dancing Doll ($7.50) finishing that she raced away to beat Dunrossil ($5.50) by two and a quarter lengths.

Elstrata ($5.50) was another short neck back in third place.

By Choisir, Private Steer and Light Fantastic's sire Danehill Dancer, Dancing Doll is one of three winners produced by the former smart Adelaide racemare Nassi Doll.

A daughter of the group performed Bletchingly mare Flash Doll, Nassi Doll made history when she became the first thoroughbred in Australia to wear earmuffs in a race. That occurred at Cheltenham on March 25, 2000.

At stud the group performer is proving a decent producer for Baramul Stud.

As well as Dancing Doll she is the dam of the six time winning and stakes placed Queensland stayer Don Vito.

NEDIYMS RULER THUMPS RIVALS IN PERTH

Followers of the powerful Dan Morton stable in Perth were cheering when Nediyms Ruler romped home in the Westspeed Handicap (1400m) at Belmont today.

After drifting to $12 from his opening quote of $9, the money came in thick and fast and bookmakers were forced to tumble his price into $5.50.

Allowed to cruise along at the front of the field by talented Perth based apprentice Campbell McCallum, Nediyms Ruler raced clear of his rivals at the top of the straight and established a winning break.

The youngster by General Nediym held a five length margin over runner-up Wild Charger at the post, while Kilat was another length and three quarters back in third place.

Bred by Ron Sayers' Yarradale Stud, Nediyms Ruler is by  former Magic Millions flagbearer General Nediym.

He was purchased by Grant Burns' Premium Bloodstock Services for the Morton stable for $95,000 at last year's Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale at Belmont.

Morton, best known as the trainer of Group One winning Magic Millions graduates Scenic Blast and Scenic Shot, came to the track knowing his charge would be hard to beat.

"Last time out he had a couple of little excuses we discovered after (the race)," Morton said.

"I was happy with him going into today. He was pretty impressive in the end."

"I thought the 1400 (metres) would suit today, so I was really looking forward to it."

Morton said it was always the plan for the three-year-old to be up near the lead throughout the race.

"I said to Cam(pbell) that he didn't necessarily have to be right there, but be good enough to hold his barrier."

"There wasn't a lot of speed in the race and he just controlled it."

Nediym Ruler's dam, the Marauding mare Endesa, is a Perth winner at two and is from the stakes winning two-year-old Rory's Jester mare Livelihood.

That makes Endesa a half sister to the stakes winners Living Spirit (dam of Blue Diamond Stakes placegetter Maka Ena) and Only She Can.

It is also the family of the Group Two winning sire Happy Giggle, Singapore sensation Recast and stakes winning sire Gonski.

Another member of the family, the Melbourne stakes winner Immortality, made it back to back wins in Adelaide on Saturday.

BLACKFRIARS COLT TOO GOOD FOR DIVA'S BOY

All eyes turned to Geelong this afternoon to see the debut run of Makybe Diva's first foal Rockstardom and while the son of Galileo ran an encouraging race he was no match for another debutant Eclair Surprise.

A member of the powerful Peter Moody stable at Caulfield, Eclair Surprise came from near last on the corner, weave between runners while losing momentus, but still proved too good for a field of promising youngsters.

Eclair Surprise, a $65,000 purchase from last year's Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale, still has plenty to learn - but according to winning rider Luke Nolen he has a bright future.

"He's a nice enough horse," Nolen said. "When he came off the bridle chasing them there he got a little lost."

"Once he knuckled down he kicked nicely - went through a gap, but then after he came through he had a look around."

"When he works it out he'll be a nice horse," he added. "He's shown nice ability at home."

Nolen said it was always the plan to let the promising three-year-old find his feet early before asking him for an effort over the concluding stages.

"From that gate we were always going to have to give them a start."

"I think if he's allowed to race a bit closer and come home uninterrupted he might have won that by a couple (of length)."

"If he continues to mature we might have a bit of fun this prep."

Luke NolenEclaire Surprise ($6.50) held a short head margin on the line over the warm favourite Pitt Street ($2.25 fav).

Condahussler ($6.50) was another three lengths further back, just ahead of Rockstardom ($5).

The only foal to date produced by the Scenic mare French Scene, Eclair Surprise is a son of Danehill's Victoria Derby winner Blackfriars.

French Scene, who is a daughter of the Group Two Winterbottom Stakes winner French Sound, won two races to 1400 metres - importantly one of her wins was at the Perth track of Belmont.

The win was a nice pointer for next year's Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale - which has been the subject of outstanding entries.

One sire well represented with entries is Eclair Surprise's sire Blackfriars.

With 10 stakes winners already including the likes of Mansion House, God Has Spoken, Majar and Simply Adorable, Blackfriars is one of Western Australia's most popular sires.

Blackfriars stands alongside Brocco, Hurricane Sky and freshman Universal Ruler this spring at Durham Lodge at Muchea, just north of Bullsbrook.

IlluminatesIlluminates bowed out of racing in style when she gave her rivals weight, a start and a beating in the listed Toy Show Handicap (1400m) at Warwick Farm today.

Booked to fly to New Zealand on Monday night to kick away her breeding career, Illuminates came from last, down the outside of the track to win the feature mares event in great style.

The spritely six-year-old mare is set to be served in the coming weeks by the former Group One winning sprinter Swiss Ace at Westbury Stud on the outskirts of Auckland.

Prepared by leading trans-Tasman horseman Graeme Rogerson, Illuminates was able to win her fourth stakes race and sent her earnings soaring past $880,000.

IlluminatesStable foreman Roger Elliott was all smiles in the winner's stall, but admitted to some regret that the mare would be leaving after a fruitful career.

"She always gives 100 per cent and tries real hard," Elliott said moments after the race. "She just keeps trying."

"She goes on Monday night, but she's done a good job and she's been really good for me."

Claire Bird, Racing Manager for owner Gerry Harvey, was delighted with the effort of the gallant mare.

"We were a little worried about the 60 kilos and the (relatively) dry track," Bird said. "But she's got such a big heart and she tries so hard."

Illuminates"She's booked to fly out on Monday night. I'm going to try and talk Gerry out of sending her - but we'll see."

Successful rider Blake Shinn said the mare travelled well throughout the race and on straightening he knew he was going to be in the finish.

"The track thankfully still had some give, which is important for this mare," Shinn said.

"She had the 60 kilos, but there's a reason for that - she was the best horse."

"She tracked into the race nicely. Once she got balanced she really quickened well and did a good job."

Roger ElliottThe outstanding mare was bred by Gerry Harvey's Baramul Stud and sold to trainer Graeme Rogerson for $86,000 at the 2006 Magic Millions National Yearling Sale.

Harvey recently brought the mare when offered by Dormello Stud at June's National Broodmare Sale for $460,000.

The daughter of Strategic has now notched 10 wins and along with 17 minor placings she's earned a massive $882,750.

She is one of two winners produced by the unraced Danzero mare Dazzle Light - a half sister to Stoway and daughter of Group One winner Travel Light.

STAR'S HALF BROTHER HEADING TO MAGIC MILLIONS

Purrealist-Gold Anthem colt

The world renowned Magic Millions Yearling Sale in January has received a tremendous boost with news the yearling half brother to international sensation Starspangledbanner will go under the hammer at the Gold Coast sale.

The team from Makybe in Victoria has made the decision to sell the star offering at the famous Queensland auction.

The colt, a September 3 foaling, is the latest yearling product of the exceptionally bred and top producing Made of Gold mare Gold Anthem.

The youngster is a member of the first crop of Makybe's resident young sire Purrealist, a brilliantly bred son of champion international sire Tale of the Cat.

Magic Millions' South Australian and Victorian Manager Tim Brown has inspected the colt and was suitably impressed.

"He's got plenty of size and scope," Brown said. "Come January he's going to look a very mature yearling."

"He is sure to appeal to every trainer."

"The colt is in the same mould as his outstanding half brother. He is likely to show ability at two, but he looks a great prospect to train on at three."

As well as Starspangledbanner's half brother, Brown has inspected a number of youngster by Makybe's exciting young sire Purrealist.

"I have seen a number of Purrealist yearlings and I've been impressed by their quality and attitude," he added.

Starspangledbanner shot to prominence in Australia by winning five races including the Caulfield Guineas and Oakleigh Plate when prepared by Leon Corstens.

Purchased by the powerful Coolmore Stud operation, Starspangledbanner was transferred to Aidan O'Brien where at his past two runs he's won the Golden Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot and the July Cup at Newmarket.

Starspangledbanner wins at Royal Ascot

The son of Choisir is one of the world's most valuable gallopers and is set to have a big future at stud in both hemispheres.

Gold Anthem, the dam of Starspangledbanner and the Gold Coast bound yearling, was purchased for Tony Santic by John Foote for just $40,000 at the 2001 Adelaide Yearling Sale (the sale where Mummify was purchased for just $41,000).

She was a smart racehorse - winning two races at two and earning black type when narrowly beaten into second place in a listed Balcrest Stakes at Victoria Park.

At stud she's proven to be a sensation and aside from Starspangledbanner she has produced the five time winner and Dermody Stakes placegetter Gold Chant.

Only last week she presented the Makybe team with a colt foal by Redoute's Choice.

Meanwhile, Gold Chant produced a colt by Lonhro in her first season at stud and was served last season by Starspangledbanner's sire Choisir.

Magic Millions Managing Director David Chester said outstanding entries were flowing in for the pin-up Gold Coast sale.

"We've been thrilled with both the quality and quantity of entries received to date for our major sales for 2011," Chester said.

"And to receive the entry from Tony and Deslee Santic for the half brother to Starspangledbanner is fantastic."

"There's no doubt this colt will be one of the most valuable youngsters in the country and we're sure he'll be an admired yearling here in January."

"He would be a stand out at any yearling sale in the world - being a half brother to one of the best sprinters in the world."

"The efforts of the Makybe operation were recognised at Caulfield on Saturday when the won the Outstanding Achievement in Breeding Award for 2009/10."

The 2011 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale will be held from January 12 to 21.

The five-year-old hadn't raced since finishing fifth in the CS Hayes Memorial Cup - a short autumn campaign after missing last year's spring carnival through injury.

Rebel RaiderLindop, who'd ridden the son of Reset to his wins in both the Victorian and South Australia Derbies, was delighted to see one of her favourite horses back to his best.

"I was a little bit surprised I guess," Lindop said. "But I did give him a good chance - particularly when the field dropped away at acceptance time."

"He'd been working well and I think he's better now than he has been for a couple of years."

"Obviously he's had his share of problems so it was great to see him perform like he did today."

Rebel RaiderLindop said co-trainers Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas would wait a few days at least to see where their star will race next.

"I know that the Penny Edition in Adelaide was always on the agenda - but Leon and Andrew will see how he pulls up - he might even wait three weeks between runs and head to the Makybe Diva Stakes."

A graduate of Mill Park in South Australia, Rebel Raider was purchased by Macdonald for $150,000 at the 2008 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

The outstanding galloper has won six of his 19 starts and earned his connections over $1.393 million.

Five of Rebel Raider's wins have been at stakes level.

By Zabeel's unbeaten sire son Reset he is one of three winners, from three runners, for the Dehere mare Picholine.

A winner in Brisbane and Sydney, Picholine was second in a Group One Flight Stakes and third in a Group Three Spring Stakes at Newcastle.

As well as Rebel Raider, Picholine has produced the Group Three Norman Robinson Stakes winner Shamoline Warrior.

Further back it the same family as Queensland Oaks winner A Little Kiss and Hong Kong superstar Able One.

Rebel Raider's sire Reset has been represented by no fewer than 121 winners including fellow stakes winners Set for Fame, Saxford, Likefatherlikeson and Moulin Lady.

Buyer: Star Thoroughbreds

SquamosaSquamosa extended his unbeaten run to three when he led home a Magic Millions quinella result in today's Group Three $125,950 Run to the Rose (1300m) at Rosehill.

Ridden perfectly on the speed by red hot apprentice Blake Spriggs, Squamosa kicked clear with a furlong to run and held out the previously unbeaten Masquerader to win by a half length.

Winning trainer Gai Waterhouse was delighted with the performance and said the colt was the horse to beat in the Group One $1 million Golden Rose in a fortnight.

"He is a terrific horse and he keeps improving," Waterhouse beamed from the winner's stall.

Squamosa"He has speed from the gate and then a second turn of foot up the straight."

Waterhouse described Spriggs as a "star - a genius like the horse."

"He's on track for the Golden Rose now and too right he'll be hard to beat," she added.

Spriggs, who hit the headlines recently when he won five races on a Sydney card, notched stakes win number two in the Group Three feature.

"When they came at him he really let down," the apprentice commented. "He's a nice horse."

Squamosa"It was great to be on him because Gai Waterhouse doesn't usually put apprentices on in big races," Spriggs added.

Squamosa, a graduate of Arrowfield Stud, was purchased by Denise Martin's Star Thoroughbreds for $140,000 at last year's Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

He's already earned over $171,000 for his Malaysian based connections.

David Payne, who prepares the runner-up Masquerader, a National Horses in Training Sale purchase, was very happy with the run of his charge.

"They'll meet on level terms next time," Payne said. "It was an excellent run for his first run back."

"He will be a couple of lengths better next time with fitness - so I'm very happy."

Squamosa, a colt by former classy Magic Millions graduate and Not a Single Doubt, is a half brother to classy stablemate Flying Success.

They are both from the twice New Zealand stakes winning and Melbourne winning Success Express mare Class Success.

Further back it is the same family as international stakes winners including Vidor, Jo Knows, Semillon, Petite Fantasy and Desert Fantasy.

Not a Single Doubt, who won the Canonbury Stakes and placed in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic, had already been represented by no fewer than nine stakes performers with just two crops to race.

Despite covering extra ground throughout, Shoot Out was able to storm home on the outside of runners and win impressively.

Moments after the race Wallace sent a message to his likely Cox Plate rivals suggesting his star would still make great improvement this preparation.

Bookmakers reacted to the outstanding win with Betstar cutting his Cox Plate quote from $9 to $6. He's now a clear favourite for the 2040 metre Moonee Valley feature.

"He's a good horse mate and he really knows how to win," John Wallace beamed.

Shoot Out"I was thinking, how wide can this bloke get, but he knew what he was doing. He's a real racehorse."

"He loves to win and I'm just so proud of him."

"This horse will get better," Wallace said without hesitation. "I'm telling you, lookout!"

"He's nowhere near ready. I've just been playing about with him."

"He'll win the Cox Plate," Wallace stated.

When asked whether he would continue to a Melbourne Cup if he won the Cox Plate he answer "yep."

Shoot OutAnd would he win - "we'll see. I won't run him unless I think he's ready for it. I can promise you that."

Prior to any crack at the Cox Plate, Shoot Out will have other races - including the Memsie Stakes (1400m) in a fortnight - in that race he will clash with the Australian Horse of the Year favourite.

"He might find it a bit hard next start to beat Typhoon Tracy over 1400 (metres). But after that, look out when he goes a bit further."

"(Peter) Moody (trainer of Typhoon Tracy) is my mate so I want to have a go at him."

Shoot Out ($2.50-$3 fav) had a head margin on the line over Predatory Pricer ($6-$7), while the runner up's stable mate Heart of Dream ($6-$5.50-$6) was another two and a quarter lengths back in third place.

PANIPIQUE DOWNS SLIPPER WINNER IN QUEZETTE

Winner: Panipique (Testa Rossa-Our Quivira)
Race: MRC Quezette Stakes LR (1100m)
Passed for: $240,000
Sale: 2009 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale
Vendor: Turangga Farm (As Agent)
Reserve: $250,000
Earnings: $85,288
Owner(s): Ramsey Pastoral Co Pty Ltd Syndicate (Mgr: SB Ramsey)
Trainer: Peter Moody (Caulfield)

PanipiqueFavourite punters were left reeling at Caulfield today when well bred filly Panipique overcame troubles to beat hot favourite Crystal Lily in the listed Quezette Stakes (1100m).

Punters sent out Crystal Lily, the reigning Golden Slipper winner, as a red hot $1.70 favourite and she appeared to be cruising at the corner just behind the leaders.

But no sooner had the daughter of Stratum struck the lead, that Panipique, who had to overcome losing its running at the hands of the favourite, switched off her heels and came with a charge.

At the winning post Panipique ($11-$15) held a widening three quarter length margin over Crystal Lily ($1.70-$1.75-$1.70 fav).

PanipiqueThey spaced the rest of the field, with third placegetter Enzed Girl ($11-$15) another four and a quarter lengths back. Second favourite Shaaheq ($5.50-$6.50) was fourth, a nose behind.

Winning trainer Peter Moody said the filly had come on well after a last start sixth behind Streetcar Magic in the listed Dermody Stakes in Adelaide a fortnight ago.

"She had no luck in Adelaide," Moody said. "We had to go back from a wide gate and she hit the line really well."

"She was much better suited today. Barriers are a big thing."

"She's got plenty of ability and we had a number of nice two-year-olds (last season) we can line up with Curtana."

Panipique"This filly was able to work with her on Tuesday morning. And in fairness to this filly, she has always been able to."

"That gave us a good feel until we saw a Golden Slipper winner in the field."

"I think she's done a damn good job. She had no luck in Adelaide at all and today she had to check and come around the second horse's heels but was still able to nail her."

"We had the run under our belt and that's obviously held us in good stead," Moody added.

"We've always thought she had the ability but early on she just lacked a little bit of physical strength."

Panipique holds an entry for the Group One Thousand Guineas and she's likely to have two more runs before that October feature.

"Mum was a ripper up the straight, so we'll probably go to the Danehill (Stakes) and then back here for the Guineas Prelude."

A daughter of leading Vinery Stud stallion Testa Rossa, Panipique is raced by her breeders, the Ramsey family.

Peter MoodyThey put her up for sale at the 2009 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale but took her home when bidding stopped $10,000 shy of her $250,000 reserve price.

As well as having already earned over $88,000 from just four runs, Panipique is a valuable broodmare prospect for Turangga Farm looking into the future.

Panipique is one of two named foals produced by the group winning Spinning World mare Our Quivira.

Also prepared by Moody, Our Quivira won twice at stakes level - in the Group Three Dermody Stakes in Adelaide and the listed Kensington Stakes at Flemington.

She in turn is a daughter of the stakes performed Umatilla mare Wichita and is therefore a full sister to the Toy Show Handicap winner Kishkat.

Further back it is also the family of the Group One winners Deck the Halls and Above Deck.

TOORAK TOFF RULES IN VAIN STAKES

Winner: Toorak Toff (Show a Heart-Orong)
Race: MRC Vain Stakes LR (1100m)
Sold for: $135,000
Sale: 2009 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale
Vendor: Glenlogan Park
Buyer: Bill Van Rooy
Earnings: $304,250
Owner(s): RG Hore-Lacy, W Van Rooy, T Morrissey, P Coffey, P McNamara, S Cheng & Shandy Kristo Syndicate
Trainer: Rick Hore-Lacy (Caulfield)

Toorak ToffToorak Toff confirmed his status as one of the country's best three-year-olds with a stunning first up win in today's $100,500 listed Vain Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield.

In storming home to beat a cracking field, Toorak Toff booked a trip to Sydney to run in the $1 million Group One Golden Rose in a fortnight.

And the Caulfield Guineas, a race dear to the heart of his trainer Rick Hore-Lacy, is well and truly in his thoughts.

Right from the time of his first start as a two-year-old, Hore-Lacy wasn't afraid to spruik the stunning chestnut youngster.

And while plenty of trainers talk the talk, Hore-Lacy's judgement has been proven spot on - with Toorak Toff proving himself in quality company ever since.

Toorak ToffHore-Lacy took a shine to Toorak Toff at the 2009 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale and stable client Bill Van Rooy went to $135,000 to secure him from the draft of Glenlogan Park.

"I've always thought he was pretty good," Hore-Lacy said. "But they still have to come out and do it."

"He's a very good colt though."

Hore-Lacy went into today's race knowing Toorak Toff would acquit himself well, but wary knowing the quality opposition and how much improvement was in his charge.

"There's not many better three-year-olds around that didn't turn up today."

Toorak Toff"But he made it look easy. He's come from last and just gone around them."

"I need an oxygen mask. My heart's going boom, boom, boom."

"I knew he was a very good horse and I've ended up having something each way on him."

"I've got a theory that if you're not prepared to have something on your best horse you shouldn't be having a bet on anything."

"I thought he could win - so I had something each way."

Hore-Lacy said bigger and better things were in store for the current stable star.

"We'll go to Sydney now and run in the Golden Rose and eventually come back here and run in the Caulfield Guineas."

"We'll pop him around somewhere in between - maybe in weight-for-age."

Rick Hore-LacyToorak Toff not surprisingly returned the best figures of the race - the fastest sectionals for every split of the race - the only horse to break 35 seconds for the final 600 metres.

At the post, despite getting a little weary according to Oliver, Toorak Toff ($7-$9) held a head margin over Soul ($7.50-$10-$9.50), with fellow Magic Millions graduate, Blue Diamond Stakes winner Star Witness ($3.80-$4-$3.90 fav) another half length back third.

The rest of the field was headed by General Truce ($14-$16), who was another three lengths back.

An entire by leading Glenlogan Park sire Show a Heart, Toorak Toff is the only named foal to date for the unraced Grand Lodge mare Orong.

A daughter of the Group Two Sandown Guineas winner Blixen, Orong is a sister to the multiple stakes winner Avilde.

NIBLICK STARS AT GEELONG

Well bred four-year-old Niblick looked a likely type for the future when he demoralised his rivals at Geelong this afternoon.

Sent out the favourite in his first run since running second at his only start in September last year, Niblick led throughout for the easiest of wins.

His margin at the home turn of a length was soon extended when he was asked to accelerate.

At the post Niblick ($2.50-$2.25 fav) held a massive seven length magin over a wall of horses headed by Alpha Tango Sierra. The runner-up was relegated to fourth after a subsequent protest heading.

Winning rider Nicholas Hall couldn't help but be impressed with the effort of the Robert Hickmott trained Encosta de Lago gelding.

"He's got good natural speed, so I used that to my advantage today," Hall said after the race.

"He showed a good turn of foot, he added.

Niblick was a $220,000 purchase by Nick Williams from the draft of Swettenham Stud at the 2008 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

BUFFERING TO CHASE INTERSTATE RICHES

Quality Brisbane three-year-old Buffering booked a trip to Sydney or Melbourne for a feature race campaign with a brilliant all the way win in the $50,000 QTIS 3YO Handicap (1000m) at Eagle Farm today.

Prepared by premiership winning horseman Robert Heathcote, Buffering made it five wins from six starts when he cruised home even with the 59.5 kilogram impost.

Glen Colless sent the Mossman gelding to the front early and he held that position throughout before striding clear of his rivals when asked for an effort near the post.

It was a big effort for Buffering considering the track was rated heavy after more than 70mm of rain drenched Brisbane in the preceding 24 hours.

Heathcote was planning on running Buffering in last Saturday's San Domenico Stakes at Randwick - but decided to stay home to avoid the wet track on that day.

And like has been with the case with a number of other likely carnival stars, Buffering's future, whether is be in Sydney or Melbourne, will be decided by the weather.

Connections are looking at the Up and Coming Stakes (1200m) at Warwick Farm on Saturday week - but will keep an eye to the sky.

Today Buffering was racing for the first time since his only defeat, when an excellent third to Pressday and Spirit of Boom in the Group Two Champagne Classic.

The gelding has turned out to be an incredible money spinner for his connections having being purchased by leading bloodstock agent Paul Willetts for $22,000 at last year's inaugural Magic Millions QTIS 600 Yearling Sale.

He's already earned a staggering $366,500 from just six runs and that figure looks set to grow over the coming starts.

By Mossman, the sire of Saturday's runaway Sydney stakes winner Love Conquers All, Buffering is one of three winners produced by Action Annie.

A Sydney winning daughter of Anabaa, Action Annie is a half sister to a swag of winners including the stakes placegetters Instant Strike and Don't Go Crazy.

Further back it is the same family as international stakes winning stars Martha Stevens,Wait Till Monday, Relaxed Gesture and Evolving Tactics.

Buffering is another classy graduate of renowned Queensland thoroughbred nursery Racetree.

Just over a week ago another Racetree bred and sold youngster, Happy Archer raced to a comprehensive Group One win in South Africa.

MAGIC SUCCESS ON SHOW

It's not only on the racetracks that Magic Millions graduates are making headlines.

Queensland's focus this week has been on the Royal Queensland Show and horses with strong ties to Magic Millions have been starring in the show ring.

The Champion Stallion crown, Australia's premier thoroughbred show award, was yesterday awarded to Linda Powell's Regal Banquet.

A five-year-old entire by King's Best, Regal Banquet was selected and purchased by the Powells with a show career in mind for $5,000 at the 2006 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale.

Regal Banquet has also been shown successfully under saddle and will eventually become a much sought after equestrian stallion.

A graduate of Bridgeview Stud, Regal Banquet is a half brother to five winners including Raid and Rule (12 wins) and is from the unraced Lunchtime mare Vanity Time.

Vanity Time is a full sister to Magic Night Stakes winner Fickle Hostess (dam of Abeel Hostess) and half sister to four time group winner Zabarra and the stakes placed juvenile Name in Vain.

Meanwhile, three thoroughbreds heading to an upcoming Magic Millions auction were also winners at the prestigious event.

A colt by Elusive Quality, who is being prepared by Peter Strong for the National Horses in Training Sale in October, walked away with the Champion Thoroughbred 2YO Exhibit award.

The handsome chestnut is from an unraced Success Express half sister to stakes winner Snippets' Crown - the dam of Group One winner Unearthly.

Another Strong youngster heading to Australia's premier breeze-up style sale, a two-year-old filly by Bel Danoro, won a second ribbon in the 2YO filly class.

Rounding out a big day for the Strong stable, the Youthful Legs mare Miss Linkin won a blue ribbon at the event.

In foal to exciting first season sire Publishing, Miss Linkin will go under the hammer as lot 101 at Sunday's August Thoroughbred Sale at the Gold Coast.

"It appears it's not only on the racetracks that Magic Millions graduates are starring," Magic Millions Managing Director David Chester said.

"There is a big market for thoroughbreds in equestrian fields and yesterday's results from the Royal Queensland Show emphasise this."

"It's great to see that our clients are enjoying success away from the track and sale ring."

"Magic Millions sales around the country are renowned for variety and value and when we see success like this, it's no wonder why!"

Love Conquers AllRising sprint star Love Conquers All made the rise to weight for age with ease at Randwick today with a demolition of his rivals in the Group Three $125,000 Missile Stakes (1200m).

An outstanding son of Mossman, Love Conquers All cruised home to beat the multiple Group One winners Danleigh and Sniper's Bullet in a dominant performance.

Now the winner at his three runs since a slashing third in the $1 million Magic Millions 3YO Trophy in January, Love Conquers All is set to head to Melbourne to clash with the best sprinters in the land.

"Today was the tell tale run in weight for age," co trainer Michael Hawkes said after the race.

Love Conquers All"He just puts himself in the right spot and he's a real genuine racehorse."

"It was always going to be an acid test for him. It was his first time at weight for age."

"The best part about this horse is he puts himself there. Danleigh was just stalking him."

"I told Jimmy (Cassidy) not to go before the rise and he just waited. Once he balanced up he really lengthened."

"He's just an athlete. That's the best word to describe him. He's only getting better."

Hawkes said the four-year-old would be competitive in any race they set for him and it looks like his upcoming main targets would be in Melbourne.

Jim Cassidy"Honestly, today was the first step to see how he'd handle the weight for age and we'll just see how he pulls up."

"We can go anywhere with him. He's pretty adaptable."

The stable has had a long association with Love Conquers All's owner Nick Moraitis and Michael Hawkes said it was great they had another star for the high profile businessman.

"He's been with us a long time. He's puts a lot in (to the industry) and deserves to get a lot back and I'm just glad we've got another good one for him."

Moraitis, who purchased Love Conquers All through John Hawkes for $400,000 at the 2008 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, was a relieved man in the winner's stall after the race.

"There's always a bit of pressure when you have a horse that much under the market. Everyone is expecting him to win and thank god he got home."

Love Conquers AllWinning rider Jim Cassidy said the exciting galloper was a little restless in the barriers, but once racing he was always cruising.

"He was a bit fresh today - a bit bouncy. He's a stallion and you don't want to be annoying him too much."

"I was only worried about how far I was meant to win by," Cassidy summed up.

A son of the Group One winning mare She's a Meanie, Love Conquers All is the highest priced yearling ever sold by his sire Mossman.

He is a half brother to former stakes winning juvenile She's Meaner - a filly who was narrowly beaten by Augusta Proud in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic.

The win of Love Conquers All continues the incredible big race run of horses who raced in January's Magic Millions 3YO Trophy.

Eight of the first nine horses over the line have subsequently won at stakes level - the other was Group One placed behind another of the same group.

COOKE'S MAGIC CITY DOUBLE

Renowned West Australian horsewoman Quona Cooke notched a career first at Belmont today when she saddled up a winning double.

Howbadisthat scored an impressive first up win in the Willoughby Maiden (1200m) and then stablemate Sound System made it a double when he cruised home in the Westspeed Handicap (1000m) in the very next event.

Cooke, who prepares a team at Carinya Park in Upper Swan, is best known for preparing young horses prior to export to countries including Malaysia and Singapore.

She is a regular visitor to the winning stall at tracks around the state, but today achieved a remarkable first.

"I'd never even taken more than one horse to a city meeting before," a delighted Cooke said.

"So to take two to the races and have them both win is a great thrill," she added.

Cooke is a long time client of Magic Millions and purchased both of today's winners from a Magic Millions Yearling Sale.

Howbadisthat, a four-year-old gelded son of Dash for Cash, was purchased for $40,000 from the Three Bridges Thoroughbreds draft at the 2008 Adelaide Yearling Sale.

With comeback apprentice Duncan Miller in the saddle, Howbadisthat ($21) came with a strong burst in the straight to reel in the favourite Amberstroem ($2.80) and race away to win by a length.

"He's had his share of problems and I've had to be very patient with him."

"He's never been pushed and we never push our horses. I've still got five unraced four-year-olds at home - if they need time that's what they get."

Cooke feels that Howbadisthat had a nice future and should be winning again soon and Miller agrees.

"He is a nice horse and is still learning," Miller commented. "I think he can go on with it from here."

The milestone double for the stable was achieved just over half an hour later when the promising three-year-old Sound System made it back to back city wins.

A son of Stromberg Carlson, Sound System was purchased for just $10,000 from the draft of Raheen Stud at the 2009 Magic Millions QTIS 600 Yearling Sale.

"I'm never in a rush to send my horses to Saturday races, but I might head that way with this bloke now."

"He's done a good job and won his past two races well. He shows a lot of fight - I quite like him."

Lucas Camilleri, the winning rider of Sound System, said the promising youngster would continue to improve.

"He wanted to star gaze a little once he hit the front," he commented. "But I got stuck into him again and he was never going to lose."

"He is continuing to improve with each outing."

IGLESIA TOPS MILLIONS WINNING LIST

Former top Oaklands Stud sire Iglesia has topped the list of wins with Magic Millions graduates during the 2009/10 racing season.

General Nediym's stakes winning MM graduates starring during the season included Military Rose and So Anyway.

Sequalo's highlight performers included stakes winners Bold Glance, Burdekin Blues, Secrets Untold and Spirit of Boom.

Despite his winter campaign being cut short by injury, versatile galloper Black and Bent, has earned the honour of being Magic Millions' most winning graduate during the 2009/10 racing season.

KATSIDIS CLINCHES TWO MAGIC PREMIERSHIPS

Note: Photos attached for publication - captions at bottom of release

Stathi Katsidis

Outstanding Brisbane jockey Stathi Katsidis capped a memorable 2009/10 racing season yesterday when he clinched two of the three Magic Millions Jockey Premierships.

It was a memorable afternoon for Katsidis - having swept away with the feature race of the day, the Group Three Bletchingly Stakes at Caulfield aboard star Gold Coast galloper Shoot Out.

Katsidis also rounded out the season by winning the Australian Jockey Premiership and also sharing the Brisbane title with Larry Cassidy.

But it was his effort to win two of the inaugural Magic Millions Premiership that had him smiling from ear to ear and $4,000 richer.

Katsidis won 79 races around Australia aboard Magic Millions graduates to win the Leading Jockey Premiership by an eight win margin over Brisbane rival Jim Byrne.

Perth's Shaun O'Donnell was third with 62 wins.

And with a barnstorming late season charge Katsidis nabbed Gold Coast's Daniel Griffin to win the non-metro division of the premiership by one victory - 42 wins to 41.

Katsidis was presented with his cheques and prizes yesterday at Caulfield by Magic Millions Media Manager Greg Irvine.

Stathi Katsidis and Greg Irvine

"This is a great honour and a real thrill," Katsidis said. "It is great to see Magic Millions supporting trainers and jockeys with these innovative premierships."

"I've had a great season and Magic Millions graduates have provided me with so many of my winners - particularly in feature races with horses like Shoot Out and Military Rose."

Katsidis spent one eye yesterday on the races from Doomben to see if he could win or share the Brisbane premiership as Larry Cassidy made a late season charge. Cassidy rode one winner to share the Brisbane title with Katsidis.

"It's great to hang on and share that premiership - but I must say I'm absolutely thrilled to win these two Magic Millions premierships - it's a great incentive and means a lot to me."

The other inaugural Magic Millions premiership winners will be announced soon.

Sold for $23,000

Vendor: Racetree
Buyer: Mark Terry
Owner(s): Mr SM Nathan
Trainer: Sean Tarry (South Africa)

Happy Archer as a yearling
Happy Archer as a yearling

Happy Archer confirmed her status as one of the rising stars of South African racing with a thrashing of her rivals in Saturday night's Group One Durban Thekwini Stakes (1600m) at Greyville.

Sent out the favourite after a pair on impressive wins at her previous two outings on the track, the Dubawi filly relished the extra journey in the feature two-year-old contest and she cleared away for an easy win.

Star jockey Anton Marcus allowed Happy Archer to settle back in the field, in between runners, before making his move approaching the home turn.

Marcus was able to get the filly to the outside of runners in the straight and from there she was able to reel in the leaders and race to the front.

Happy Archer, a graduate of renowned Queensland thoroughbred nursery Racetree and half sister to this season's Queensland stakes winner Femina Fashion, is trained by Sean Tarry.

She was purchased for just $23,000 at last year's Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale by Tarry's brother and regular Gold Coast buyer Mark.

The exciting youngster is the 12th individual stakes winner for her sire - Dubawi, the Irish Two Thousand Guineas winning son of Dubai Millennium.

Her dam So Tempted, a winner in Adelaide over 1250 metres, is from the stakes performed and six time winning Semipalatinsk mare Hutt Star.

So Tempted, by Melbourne Cup winner Jeune, is therefore a full sister to Wakeful Stakes winner and VRC Oaks placegetter Lolita Star and a half sister to Adelaide Guineas winner Berezny.

So Tempted is doing a great job at stud and her two named foals to date are both stakes winning fillies.

As well as Happy Archer she is the dam of the Gold Coast Bracelet winner and Doomben Roses runner-up Femina Fashion.

Prepared at the Gold Coast by Trevor Whittington, Femina Fashion is a winner from 1200 to 1800 metres and has already earned her connections $189,800.

SHOOT OUT BACK WITH A BANG

Winner: Shoot Out (High Chaparral-Pentamerous by Pentire)
Race: MRC Bletchingly Stakes G3 (1200m)
Sold for: $15,000
Sale: 2008 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale
Vendor: Oaklands Stud
Buyer: Linda Huddy
Earnings: $1,439,950
Owner(s): GL & Mrs LF Huddy
Trainer: John Wallace (Gold Coast)

Shoot OutOutstanding three-year-old Shoot Out made a stunning return to the racetrack at Caulfield today when he brilliantly won the $125,750 Group Three Bletchingly Stakes (1200m).

At his first run since winning the Group One AJC Derby, Shoot Out raced near the lead throughout, before kicking strongly in the straight and holding out his rivals for an impressive half length victory.

Trained on the Gold Coast by John Wallace, Shoot Out has been in Melbourne for a couple of weeks preparing for a long spring.

Nominated for the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups and the Cox Plate, Shoot Out was sent out a drifting $6.50 chance in his return to the track.

Shoot OutThe $15,000 bargain buy from the 2008 Magic Millions Yearling Sale has now won two of his three first up runs and last campaign he won the Royal Sovereign Stakes when fresh.

Wallace sent a warning to his potential spring carnival rivals by saying the rising four-year-old would make massive improvement in his coming races.

"He was nowhere near ready. He continue to improve and improve - I think he's really, really good."

"He's done things that I've never seen horses do. He's just a superstar horse - I love him so much."

Shoot OutFrom the inside barrier regular rider Stathi Katsidis was able to position Shoot Out on the inside near the lead throughout and when asked for the effort he kicked strongly in the straight to win.

"I was a bit surprised when he was up there like that, but I told Stathi to just ride his own race," Wallace added.

"I said it's up to you mate - he's a good horse."

The Liston Stakes in a fortnight, over 1400 metres, would be the next start for the son of High Chaparral.

"We'll just take it as it comes. We're not gonna kill him. We want him up there for a while."

"We'll run him here in a fortnight - he didn't seem to have any trouble here - he might like Melbourne!"

Wallace said he wasn't concerned with those who thought the gelding was back in work too early for his spring campaign.

John Wallace"He had five weeks off and I've brought him along quietly. I haven't galloped him that much. He's done a lot of evens and steady work and he swims alot. He's enjoying life."

Wallace declared the horse was "by far" the best he's had anything to do with during his long training career.

Raced by Graham and Linda Huddy, Shoot Out is a graduate of Oaklands Stud and was purchased for just $15,000 from the Gold Coast by Linda.

"We looked at the catalogue and picked him out - he was QTIS and that quited us - and he was a lovely horse - so we got him," Linda Huddy said.

"He's the best $15,000 I've spent - that's for sure."

"Johnny has done a great job training him and he said he would run well today - and the horse has done such a great job," she added.

Winning rider Stathi Katsidis said the star Queensland galloper had come back "bigger and better" than ever.

Stathi Katsidis"He's a special horse to me and that was a fantastic win," Katsidis said after the race. "I knew when I rode him in a trial the other day he was going well."

"Hopefully when he stretches out (in distance) later in the preparation he can settle well and then he will be able to unleash his blistering finish."

A half brother to the West Australian Oaks winner Cassandara Shadow, Shoot Out is from the grand producing Pentire mare Pentamerous.

Four tomorrow, Shoot Out boasts an outstanding record of six wins and two minor placings from just 12 starts. He's earned $1.439 million.

MM SWEEP: TEN 2YO WINNERS IN 3 DAYS

Market On Open continued the remarkable late season run of Magic Millions juvenile graduates when he cruised home in the $65,000 Two-Year-Old event in Singapore on Friday night.

The More Than Ready youngster, an $85,000 buy from last October's National Horses in Training Sale, made up for a recent unlucky debut effort with a brilliant three and a half length success.

Trainer Michael Freedman was glad to see the youngster but his best foot forward at his second start.

He elected to not take on Gingerbread Man and co in the recent Magic Millions Juvenile Championship and instead felt Friday night's event was a better goal.

"He had a pretty torrid run on Derby Day and I didn't want him under too much pressure too soon," Freedman said.

"I've had a pretty high opinion of him right from the day he came into work and there is still plenty of time for him to run in the better races."

"I certainly class him up there with some of the better ones in the stable."

A Baramul Stud graduate as a yearling, where he made $65,000, Market On Open then made $85,000 when resold by Niara Lodge last October on the Gold Coast.

By the outstanding Vinery Stud stallion More Than Ready, he is a half brother to five winners including smart Sydney galloper Gangitano.

Dam Time for Bed is a daughter of the Group One Queen Elizabeth Stakes winner Dinky Flyer.

Market On Open made it 10 two-year-old winners for Magic Millions graduates in just three days in a barnstorming conclusion to the 2009/10 season.

The other nine were in Australia and included the impressive youngsters Private Label, Decided, Auburn Streak, Stellar King, Elusive Bounty and Temple Court.

Magic Millions two-year-old graduates have won no fewer than 338 races in Australia alone this season including 21 at stakes level.

The highlight gallopers have included the likes of Star Witness, Military Rose, Motion Pictures, Toorak Toff, Masquerador, Brightexpectations and Ringa Ringa Rosie.

WORLDWIDE STREAK FOR HIT GRADUATES

The barnstorming worldwide winning run of graduates of Australia's leading breeze up style sale has continued over the past week.

With entries for the 2010 Magic Millions National Horses in Training Sale closing tomorrow, past graduates continued to register impressive wins around the globe.

Fifteen Carat led the way for past graduates when on Saturday the outstanding three-year-old beat the older horses in the listed Tattersall's Mile at Eagle Farm.

A day later the Shamardal youngster Gingerbread Man continued the run with an incredible victory in the Group Three Magic Millions Juvenile Championship at Kranji in Singapore.

Gingerbread Man looks a rising star and his trainer Bruce Marsh has no doubt he will be even further suited at longer trips as a three-year-old next year.

The budding champion of Singapore wasn't the only Horses in Training Sale graduate in the winner's stall at Kranji on Sunday - there were four in all.

Gingerbread ManSeize the Day, a $130,000 purchase last October, cruised home in his two and three-year-old event for Steven Burridge and Ronnie Stewart.

The Happy Giggle gelding hails from the family of Intergaze and was originally sold at the Adelaide Yearling Sale for $30,000.

Trustee, a gelding by Irish Royal and graduate of the 2004 HIT sale, notched career win number seven when he scored a thrilling win in the Class 5 event over 1400 metres.

Trained by Don Baertschiger and with John Powell in the saddle, Trustee sent his earnings past the $200,000 barrier with his latest success.

Completing the four win haul was Esteem Power, a $16,000 Adelaide Yearling and $70,000 Gold Coast HIT purchase, in the last of 10 races.

Another member of the Steven Burridge stable, Esteem Power is one of two winners produced by the Dolphin Street mare Dolphin Miss.

At the corresponding meeting in Malaysia on Sunday another three Horses in Training Sale graduates were winners.

ShockingDon't callme Uncle (Stromberg Carlson-Saljen; $42,000 at 2008 HIT sale), Glory Kingdom (King Cugat-Glory Girl; $47,500 at 2005 HIT sale) and Good Impression (Untouchable-La Beguine; $46,000 at 2008 HIT sale) all had their connections cheering with impressive wins.

"Over recent years the National Horses in Training Sale has confirmed its status as the number one breeze up style sale in the region - whether judged by vendor or buyers numbers or by the success level of graduates,"  Magic Millions Managing Director David Chester said.

"Our buyers at past sales will all be back in October to compete for the top racetrack prospects being offered this time around."

"Virtually every day of the week we see graduates of this sale winning somewhere in the world - and you saw on Sunday we had four winners in Singapore - three in Malaysia and that came hot on the heels of a stakes winner in Brisbane on Saturday."

"Buyers now know this sale is the leader of the field and vendors also would be aware that this sale is the place to be selling their quality athletes."

At the 2007 sale Laurence Eales bid to $64,000 to secure a Street Cry colt from the draft of Washpool Lodge.

ShockingThat colt is better known as Shocking and last November he won Australia's richest and most famous race, the $5 million Melbourne Cup at Flemington.

Shocking's trainer Mark Kavanagh reports that the entire is back in work and will be aimed at defending his big two mile win later in the year.

The sale has also produced the outstanding Macau galloper Viva Pronto - a star galloper trainer by Gary Moore who has notched numerous big wins in Macau and also popped across to win at group level in Hong Kong.

Entry forms for the National Horses in Training Sale, as well as the major 2011 Magic Millions Yearling Sales, are available to be downloaded from the homepage of the Magic Millions website.

STRONG SELLING AT WINTER SALE

Top selling was the order of the day at the 2010 Magic Millions Perth Winter Thoroughbred Sale today with solid increases across the board.

Almost $800,000 was traded on 145 lots at an average price of $5,475 - up over 12 per cent from last year's figure of $4,883.

The draft from Peters Investments Pty Ltd proved popular and kicked away the sale on a very positive note.

Grey Monarch, catalogued as lot three, topped the day's selling when snapped up by local Allan Barnes for $65,000.

A last start winner just over a week ago, Grey Monarch is a winner of six of his 35 starts to date and earned $243,100.

The Verglas gelding gained black type when he ran a close second in the listed Aquanita Stakes to Famous Roman.

Another Peters Investments offering, Challis made $50,000 to the bid of Hong Kong based Ng Muk.

Magic Millions Perth Manager Murray Tillett was pleased with the results from today's sale.

"We had a great line up buyers represented at the sale," Tillett reported. "And the quality lots of the sale were well sought after."

"The Winter Thoroughbred Sale has proven popular over the years and it's encouraging to see the average price continues to rise each year."

Gingerbread ManGingerbread Man confirmed his status as Singapore's best two-year-old with a stunning win in the $200,000 Group Three Magic Millions Juvenile Championship (1200m) this evening.

An Australian bred and sold youngster by Shamardal, Gingerbread Man overcame the outside barrier and a torrid run to race to the lead in the straight and then fly clear.

A $30,000 purchase for Joe Singh at last year's Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Gingerbread Man not only swept away with the first prize cheque - but also a $50,000 bonus from Magic Millions.

Trainer Bruce Marsh, like most on course, was almost lost for words after the dynamic performance.

"He was very impressive," Marsh said. "He's a very good horse."

"It was always the plan to drop him back if the others were quicker, but I have to say I was very concerned when I saw him caught wide."

"But he gave such an extraordinary kick in the home straight. It just smashed them - unbelievable!"

"I didn't really rate him as a sprinting type two-year-old and we've always ridden him back a bit."

"He's a very good horse."

Marsh went into the race with a great deal of confidence, knowing he had the favourite and the horse to beat.

"The way I look at it is in a way, he coming a little down in class after than race in Open company," he reported.

"Only the barrier was a concern but he's handled it very well. He's deserved a little rest and his goal will be the Three-Year-Old challenge next year."

"He's such a lovely laid back individual and I have no doubt that he will be able to get more ground."

Connections of Gingerbread Man"The owner Joe Giovanni bought him at the Magic Millions sale at the Gold Coast. I then helped him get a group of people to get some shares in him."

Winning rider Barend Vorster couldn't help but be impressed with the performance of Gingerbread Man.

"What can I say about this horse? He was put against the wall and he's fought back to win in a style that speaks volumes about his potential."

"I bouned him out well so I could make up my mind if I could lead or ease back," Vorster added.

"When the other two horses on the inside proved faster, I decided to drift and follow Strata Star, whom I know has a good pace and could give me a good cart."

"But then he kept changing his legs at the home turn, and I thought I was in trouble. But once he got on his left leg and I asked the question, he just pulled away."

"I think in a funny sort of way, he's still very immature but at the same time when he was able to get back on his right leg, it showed he was mature as well,"  Vorster summed up.

Gingerbread Man, a graduate of Rothwell Park, is by the Darley shuttler Shamardal, and is from the lightly raced Hurricane Sky mare Quaffle.

Quaffle, whose other runner is also a winner, is a half sister to the stakes winning Unbridled's Song mare Golden Snitch.

Gingerbread Man's third dam is Spyglass, the Group One winning dam of Epsom Handicap hero Iron Horse.

FIFTEEN CARAT TO HUNT EPSOM

Winner: Fifteen Carat (Show a Heart-Brynica)
Race: Qld Tatt's RC Tattersall's Mile LR (1600m)
Sold for $22,000
Sale: 2008 Magic Millions QTIS 600 Yearling Sale
Vendor: Warrandale Stud
Buyer: Robert Stewart
Passed for $70,000
Sale: 2008 Magic Millions Horses in Training Sale
Vendor: Robert Stewart
Reserve: $75,000
Earnings: $241,900
Owner(s): Mrs BA Bates, R Merkur, PA Kaljo, Ms M Jackson & RC Maddison
Trainer: Howard Wilson (Gold Coast)

Fifteen CaratQuality Gold Coast three-year-old Fifteen Carat will be tested at racing's elite level following an impressive win against his older rivals in the listed Tattersall's Mile (1600m) at Eagle Farm today.

Trainer Howard Wilson, who has prepared multiple group winners, has no doubt Fifteen Carat is the best horse he's trained.

And he's chosen the Group One Epsom Handicap as the new goal for his star galloper following his latest stakes victory.

"He's a very good horse," Wilson told AAP.

"He'll have three weeks off and I'll get him ready for the Epsom."

"That's my plan - we started him today to make sure he'd get a run in the Epsom and that's where he's going."

Fifteen Carat"I've hardly ever had many runners in the big races," Wilson said. "I've never had a Group One horse but this bloke might be the one."

"He's a better horse than my (previous two) Villiers winners and the best horse I've had."

Glen Colless picked up the ride on Fifteen Carat with regular rider Stathi Katsidis struck down with a bad case of the flu.

Katsidis' fiancee Melissa Jackson, a part owner of the three-year-old, was also not on track - she was at home cheering while "playing nurse."

"Three-year-olds don't beat the older horses very often and the horse he got past is a good old horse," an impressed Glen Colless said.

"They've got to be a fair bit above average to do it and he stuck to his guns really well."

Fifteen Carat"He's a very nice horse but the thing I like about him is he's just a really relaxed horse.

In a thrilling run to the line Fifteen Carat ($3 fav) finished too well for Bold Glance ($4.80) and at the line a short head separated the pair.

The rest of the field was headed by Deacon ($11), who was another length and three quarters back.

A $22,000 purchase for Robert Stewart from the draft of Warrandale Stud at the 2008 Magic Millions QTIS 600 Yearling Sale, Fifteen Carat is turning out a great value buy.

With three wins and five minor placings from just 14 starts, Fifteen Carat has already earned his connections an impressive $241,900.

As a two-year-old Fifteen Carat was also put through his paces at the 2008 Magic Millions National Horses in Training Sale at the Gold Coast.

On that occasion his bidding stopped $5,000 short of his $75,000 reserve and was retained by the vendor.

The winner is a gelded son of Show a Heart - a former outstanding racehorse and winner of the Caulfield Guineas - who is now a leading sire based at Glenlogan Park in Queensland.

He is one of 18 stakes winners for his sire, following in the hoofsteps of stars including Heart of Dreams, Mimi Lebrock, Toorak Toff, Rightfully Yours and Gotta Have Heart.

Fifteen Carat is the first winner for the Snippets mare Brynica, a daughter of the stakes winning Polish Patriot mare Little Pattie.

It is the well known Just Now family that includes the stakes winners McClintock, Telltina and Lolita Star.

PICS - Dan Costello.

JORDAN EYES RICH SPRINTS AS STAR FILLY SHINES

Star Perth three-year-old For Your Eyes Only is set to be aimed at the big summer sprints of the west after upstaging her older rivals in today's $75,200 listed Beaufine Stakes (1000m) at Belmont.

In a remarkable training achievement by Paul Jordan, For Your Eyes Only was able to reel in Ma Ma Machine in the dash before racing clear for an emphatic win.

Just two runs back the brilliant filly contested the Group Three West Australian Oaks over 2400 metres.

Jordan elected to keep the filly in the stables over the winters months and today she notched her third stakes victory.

"She's a superstar," Jordan said. "We love her, she's just great."

"She's won 10 races and she's just been terrific. She'll have one more run and then she'll go out."

Jordan was happy with how the race unfolded for him watching from the grandstand.

"We got a nice run. Ma Ma Machine went out really fast and Jimmy's horse went really hard and we had the sit on them."

A winner of the Magic Millions Perth 3YO Trophy earlier in the year, For Your Eyes Only will most likely have one more run before a stint in the paddock.

"We might run in the Newmarket - I'll talk to the owners," Jordan commented.

Jordan said the Winterbottom Stakes at Group Two level would be a major goal for the Bletchley Park filly at the end of the year.

It was announced during the week that the race, which in recent years has been won by Takeover Target and Ortensia, would be worth $750,000 this year.

For Your Eyes Only"Any race that she runs in she will be a chance,"  he summed up.

Jordan was quick to point out that the boost in money for the Winterbottom would mean stakes for other feature races would be reduced.

"She can then have a break and come back for the race they upped the ante with - but took the stakes from other races to do it."

"Perhaps that will get reported in the week."

The win of For Your Eyes Only was celebrated by Rob and Jodie Gray of Rangeview Stud, who bred and sold the youngster for $23,000 from the 2008 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale.

Her impressive record now reads out at 10 wins and four minor placings from just 19 starts. Her earnings have shot to an imposing $548,800.

The filly is raced by a large group headed by Harvey Crossman's Lima Syndicate.

A daughter of the four time winning Key Business mare Communique, For Your Eyes Only is one of the most valuable horses in Perth.

Her dam, who won three on Perth tracks, is a half sister to the group performed five time winner Dead Eye Dick.

Further back it is the family of stakes winners including Dr John, Mr Cube and Paris Moon.

DIAZLING FIRST BUY FOR OLIVER

History was made at the 2008 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale when a Sequalo filly from the draft of Furlong Stud was sold for $23,000.

The filly, catalogued as lot number 1072, was the first yearling ever purchased by talented young Caulfield trainer Luke Oliver.

Oliver, who made his name by patching up "cast off" gallopers from other stables, went to the Gold Coast that year with enough money to buy one horse.

The Sequalo filly, who is now known by her racename of Diazling, provided Oliver with a great thrill when she won the Leslie Short Memorial Handicap (1600m) at Moonee Valley today.

"It means a lot to me for this filly to win," Oliver said. "She's the first yearling I ever bought and I've always had a soft spot for her."

"I went to the Magic Millions a couple of years back and had enough money to buy one horse and I was able to get her for $23,000."

"She wasn't a real big yearling, but I knew the dam - who was raced by some friends of mine."

Right from the time the filly was first tested at her Caulfield stables she showed she had aboave average ability.

Oliver took the Sequalo filly to Horsham for her debut late last year and she did the job in great style - racing away to win by almost two lengths over 1200 metres.

Immediately spelled she returned in May and ran an eye catching third at Seymour prio to an unplaced effort at the same track.

Given a let up, Diazling returned brilliantly with a close up third at Sandown earlier in the month.

Now a winner of two of her five runs (she's placed in another two) Diazling has already won her connections $53,367.

"She's pretty effective on the wet tracks, her dam handled those tracks as well," Oliver said. "We'll probably give her a break now."

Oliver said Diazling would more than likely have a lightly summer preparation prior to a winter campaign next year.

Diazling is a daughter of Lyndhurst Stud favourite Sequalo and is from Miss Diaz, a five time winning daughter of Success Express.

Miss Diaz's dam, the once raced Water Mill mare Mystic Mill is from a stakes performed full sister to Tontonan - a former chmpion two-year-old.

FIVE HUNT $50,000 BONUS IN SINGAPORE

Five exciting youngsters will be racing for a $50,000 bonus in Singapore on Sunday when the Group Three Magic Millions Juvenile Championship (1200m) is run at Kranji.

Magic Millions will give the owner of the winner the bonus if that horse is a graduate of one of their sales.

The eligible runners for the bonus are Gingerbread Man, Biggest Secret, Strata Star, Top Venture and Aradea.

Gingerbread Man is set to start one of the favoured runners in the feature stakes event after four excellent runs in his career to date.

Prepared by Bruce Marsh, Gingerbread Man has two wins and two seconds to date and locals are tipping him as the horse to beat in the Championship.

A son of Shamardal, Gingerbread Man was knocked down to Magic Millions Bloodstock Consultant James Dawson for $30,000 at last year's Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Dawson purchased the youngster for Joe Singh while on the phone to the Singapore based owner.

Singh will be hoping the lucky run continues - having purchased another four lots at the recent National Yearling Sale through Dawson.

Michael Freedman saddled up Always Certain to finish second in the Juvenile Championship last year and is hoping to go one better with the unbeaten Biggest Secret.

By Secret Savings, Biggest Secret was purchased from last year's Gold Coast Yearling Sale for $130,000. He's raced twice - for two eye catching wins.

"He's a horse who has never stopped improving physically since his debut win," Freedman said. "I would say his second win was a much better effort than his first."

"Since then, he's been showing he was well within himself and seems in good order going into Sunday's race."

"He has a nice temperament for a two-year-old and he looks to have a nice future here."

Stratum has taken all before him in Australia this season with the likes of Crystal Lily and on Sunday he will be represented in Singapore's biggest juvenile race by Strata Star.

A $70,000 purchase by trainer Michael Clements at last year's National Horses in Training Sale, Strata Star has raced just once.

At that outing, on July 2, he put up a big performance to win on debut from an outside barrier in a 1200 metre juvenile event.

Prior to his impressive debut win Strata Star looked an exciting prospect with a pair of barrier trial victories.

Strata Star was a member of the Symphony Lodge draft at the Horses in Training Sale last October - being sold on behalf of well known Queensland based horseman Edward O'Dwyer.

Top VentureFirst season trainer Theo Kieser will saddle up his first black type runner in the Championship with promising youngster Top Venture.

A Baramul Stud graduate, Top Venture ran second on debut before racing away at his most recent outing for an eye catching win.

The Flying Spur youngster was purchased by his trainer for $80,000 at October's National Horses in Training Sale.

Kieser, a former South African, has spent a lifetime around racing and is best known in recent years as the long time foreman for Laurie Laxon.

"He's very lazy and laid back but puts it together on raceday", Kieser said. "Around the stable you can do anything with him."

"You can walk into his stable, pull his ears, move around him without any problem."

"He switches on come raceday and has a really good temperament for racing."

Rounding out the runners chasing the $50,000 bonus is the John O'Hara trained Aradea.

A gelded son of Johannesburg, Aradea was purchased from the draft of Holbrook Thoroughbreds for $65,000 at last year's Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

He is a well bred youngster - his dam being the stakes winning Beautiful Crown mare Bella Corona.

Aradea has raced on just one occasion and he finished third behind Api Api on July 9.

The Magic Millions Juvenile Championship is the eighth race at Kranji on Sunday and will jump at 7.40pm (AEST).

STALLION NOMINATIONS FOR A GREAT CAUSE

The sale of 22 stallion nominations for the 2010 breeding season in aid of a great cause will be a highlight of the upcoming Magic Millions August Thoroughbred Sale.

A selection of studs and breeders around Australia have kindly donated the nominations to go under the hammer with all proceeds going to the Yeomans family.

Earlier this year Jye Yeomans was diagnosed with leukaemia and as a result his parents, former Magic Millions groundsman Scott and his wife Youlah, have not been able to work due to the time required for Jye to be in Brisbane at the Childrens' Hospital.

As a result of this financial strain the thoroughbred industry has rallied and will at the August Thoroughbred Sale offer an outstanding line up of stallion nominations.

"We would like to sincerely thank all of the studs and breeders who have generously donated these nominations - all proceeds from the sales will do direct to the Yeomans family," Magic Millions Managing Director David Chester reported.

"We encourage all breeders around Australia to compete for at least one of the nominations for a great cause."

"The stallion nominations on offer represent a wide variety of leading stallions standing at stud in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria,"  Chester added.

The nominations include proven Group One producing sires Danzero, Monashee Mountain and Octagonal and promising first season sires Hidden Dragon and Jet Spur.

Vendor: Attunga Stud (As Agent)

Owner(s): R Plersch
Earnings: $720,000 (approx)

War Artist (black)Globetrotting sprinter War Artist will chase one of France's feature sprints after he cruised to victory in the Group Three Prix de Ris-Orangis at Maisons-Laffitte overnight.

An Australian bred Magic Millions Yearling Sale graduate, War Artist is one of the world's best and toughest sprinters - having won group events in four countries.

Under champion French jockey Olivier Peslier, War Artist lengthened over the concluding stages of the seven furlong feature to win by a half length.

Sent out the 4/5 favourite after running an eye catching fifth in the Golden Jubilee Stakes, War Artist led home a quinella for trainer Alain de Royer-Dupre with stablemate Tiza second.

"War Artist is not yet at a peak and there is still room for improvement," the trainer told Racing Post.com.

"He now goes for the (Group 1) Prix Maurice de Gheest at Deauville where the extra half-furlong should not be a problem."

Olivier PeslierConnections were impressed with how War Artist quickened over the concluding stages considering he was giving weight to all of his rivals.

Bred by Steve Kirkham, War Artist is by Orpen and from the good producing Brocco mare Royal Solitaire.

His half sister Sashenka was Group One placed prior to selling for $420,000 as a breeding prospect at the 2009 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale.

War Artist himself was purchased by Andy Williams'  World Wide Bloodstock for $57,500 from the 2005 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Having kicked away his career in South Africa, where he won at Group One level, the gelding has won the equivalent of over $700,000.

5000 NOT OUT: ANOTHER MAGIC MILESTONE

Australia's most winning thoroughbred sales company Magic Millions celebrated another major seasonal milestone today.

Que's win in the Singapore Turf Club Handicap at Fannie Bay in Darwin was the 5000th success by Magic Millions graduates for the 2009/10 racing season.

Prepared by renowned Territory horseman Kerry Petrick, Que cruised home under Paul Denton to win by a length and three quarters.

The tally of Magic Millions wins in Australia started the day on 4972 and rose throughout the day with a number of impressive winners.

Among them were Crossbow, Triumphant Choice, Atomic Force, Cold Handel, Mr Unforgettable, Changing Eyes, He's Here, Summery, Underline, Last Curtain and Tonic.

When the day's racing was completed with the final event at Toowoomba the win haul had reached 5008.

"That's quite an incredible figure," Magic Millions Managing Director David Chester said.

"We know we've also had many hundreds of winners overseas - so who knows how many winners we've had around the globe."

"But in reaching 5000 wins for the first time in Magic Millions history is a great achievement."

"Racing is about winning and winning is something that our graduates know plenty about."

The 2009/10 racing season still has two weeks to run.

The prizemoney earned from the 5000 plus wins is just $50,000 shy of $81 million.

UNFORGETTABLE DAY FOR SPRIGGS

Vendor: Corumbene Stud (As Agent)
Buyer: Vin Cox Bloodstock

Mr UnforgettableMr Unforgettable capped a magnificent day in the saddle for 18-year-old apprentice Blake Spriggs when they teamed up to win the listed Winter Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill.

One of five winners on a memorable afternoon, Mr Unforgettable got him a driving finish to win in a race record time.

Spriggs' other winners on the day were Crossbow, African Prince, Atomic Force and Miss Independent.

But it was his win aboard the Kevin Moses trained Mr Unforgettable at stakes level that was his most impressive.

Mr Unforgettable"Blake is riding very well and should continue to do so," Moses told AAP.

"And it's great to see Mr Unforgettable win again.

"I took him to Queensland because I thought he would be a chance in the Stradbroke.

"But he got sick with a really bad virus. He ran fifth in a lead-up race and the vet who looked at him after the race couldn't believe he'd been able to do that.

"We left the horse up there to recover and I really have to thank (trainer) Alan Bailey who looked after him at his place."

Mr UnforgettableMr Unforgettable, who's run at the last three Magic Millions racedays on the Gold Coast, is by Rubiton and was purchased as a yearling in 2006 for $62,500.

He won his first race when at three he won the $100,000 Magic Millions Maiden Plate.

A year later he was back at the Gold Coast where he ran fifth in the Class Six Plate won by Zero Rock.

And earlier this year he ran an excellent third to subsequent group winner Walking or Dancing in the $500,000 Magic Millions Cup.

The Corumbene Stud graduate was purchased from the Gold Coast sale ring by leading Sydney based bloodstock agent Vin Cox.

In winning the Winter Stakes, Mr Unforgettable added more black type to a family well proven at stakes level.

His dam, the unraced Luskin Star mare La Marama, is a half sister to three stakes performers  - two in Australia and one in South Africa.

Another half sister Creola is the grandam of another current Magic Millions star Tallow - a winner this season of the Group Three Vanity Stakes at Flemington.

Mr Unforgettable is the 40th individual stakes winner for Rubiton - a Cox Plate winner as a racehorse and sire.

NO DENYING CROSSBOW THIS TIME

After being robbed of a debut win at Gosford recently, Crossbar officially kicked away his career in style with a dazzling win in the Upstream 'Print Less' 2YO Handicap (1100m) at Rosehill today.

A beautifully related son of Redoute's Choice, Crossbow led early and held that position until the home straight when he accelerated away from his rivals for an emphatic victory.

Crossbow, a dual trial winner at Warwick Farm, first "raced" at Gosford on June 23 and in what is best described as a farce, the youngster had his win revoked.

The $300,000 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale purchase was the most affected in a patchy start and when it was discovered the gates opened without being activated by the starter stewards declared the event void.

CrossbowIncredibly the false start system wasn't alerted and riders, after their initial concerns, continued to race.

In what was an outstanding performance Crossbow game from last on the corner, weaved between runners and raced clear for a brilliant win.

This time around and with no starting bungles, Crossbow was able to get a clean getaway and the result was never in doubt.

Trainer Gai Waterhouse, who selected and purchased the youngster from the Grange Thoroughbreds draft at the Gold Coast, has always held a big opinion of Crossbow.

Gai WaterhouseAssistant trainer Tania Rouse was pleased to see the blueblood score a deserved "debut" win.

"He did everything right," Rouse noted. "And Blake (Spriggs) rode him beautifully."

"Gai's always had a big opinion of Crossbow and he looks to have a nice future," she added.

Winning rider Dale Spriggs, son of gun NSW rider Dale, is riding in great form and the 18-year-old is hoping to be crowned Sydney's champion apprentice nest season.

The Waterhouse stable is a fan of Spriggs and if he continues to ride in similar fashion there's no doubt he'll pick up more rides for Australia's most famous horsewoman.

"He rode him cleverly in the front and the horse raced away well when he asked him to quicken," an impressed Rouse noted.

Blake SpriggsBy Redoute's Choice, who at the end of this season is set to clinch the Champion Australia Sire title, Crossbow was the second lot offered and sold at last year's Magic Millions Yearling Sale.

His dam Rainbow Bubbles, a stakes winner in Melbourne and placegetter in the Coolmore Classic, is a full sister to the former Group One winner El Mirada.

El Mirada won seven races during his career, five at stakes level, and earned over $1.13 million.

Gayle's Glance, the dam of El Mirada and Rainbow Bubbles, also produced the multiple Tasmanian stakes winner Castlegayle.

MIEKO'S DIAMOND SPARKLES FOR WALLACE

Talented juvenile filly Mieko's Diamond gave the Wallace family plenty to cheer about when she flew home between runners to win at Ipswich today.

Owned and trained by John Wallace, Mieko's Diamond made it two wins in her first season of racing when she edged out Dulacca Jet and General Almighty.

The win continued a great run for graduates sold by Magic Millions - with all three placegetters plucked from the famous Gold Coast sales ring.

Mieko's Diamond, a daughter of exciting Oaklands Stud first season sire Ferocity, was purchased from the draft of Southern Cross Breeders for $85,000 at the 2008 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale.

Riding the filly to victory was Wallace's son, promising apprentice Brad - thus giving the family more reasons to celebrate.

"I thought she was a good thing today," John Wallace said after the race. "Everyone before the race thought the favourite was - but I still backed her."

Wallace said the filly was sent for a short break following her last start effort when she finished at the back of the field in Brisbane.

"She was five to six deep outside the leaders - you just had to forget she ever went around," he noted.

"We gave her a short spell after and this time in she's really improved."

Wallace Jnr predicted more wins into the future for the well bred youngster.

"She's going to be a pretty good horse I think," the winning rider noted. "She will get over a bit more distance as well."

"I ride her in her trackwork and knew she was a great chance going on her work," he added.

Mieko's Diamond is the first runner for the former top class Danzero mare Sharp.

A winner at two, Sharp trained on to win a Group Two Light Fingers Stakes and listed Satellite Stakes prior to her retirement to stud.

The mare was in the news recently when her latest weanling, a colt by Encosta de Lago, sold for $300,000 - topping the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale.

Mieko's Diamond's sire Ferocity, a winner of the Ascot Vale Stakes and Magic Millions Adelaide 2YO Classic for Danny O'Brien, has sired five first crop winners.

As ell as today's winner, Ferocity is the sire of Gentle Giant, Sticksy, Silveton and Vexed. He has another handful of runners who've already placed.

Meanwhile, Wallace said stable star Shoot Out was on track for a Melbourne campaign and would kick off in the Bletchingly Stakes at Caulfield in 15 days time.

Wallace said the last start AJC Derby winner, a $15,000 Gold Coast bargain buy, would be aimed at the Cox Plate and Melbourne Cup.

INTENCION IMPRESSES BOSS ON DEBUT

Champion jockey Glen Boss has predicted a bright future for Intencion, an impressive winner of the Lamby's Tavern 2YO Plate (1000m) at Geelong today.

Boss didn't hestitate in suggesting the Commands colt would race through his grades and be a classy sprinter/miler.

Intencion was sent to the front early by Boss and he held that position throughout, easily holding out his rivals to win on debut.

"This is a real nice horse I think," Boss said. "He seems like he has a bit of presence about him."

"As soon as you get on him he feels like a real nice horse."

"He's got a really good action and he's well educated, but on the other hand he's still very raw."

Boss said the son of Commands travelled well in the lead.

"He had them covered throughout. He would have held them off for another lap. He was kidding to them."

"He's a horse you can probably stick with and follow - he's going to win a fair few races."

Tony Vasil"He's probably going to look a nice sprinter and miler," Boss said of the juvenile who's trained at Caulfield by Tony Vasil.

Intencion, who is from the Group Two placed Pins mare Acupuncture, was knocked down to Magic Millions' Singapore agent Wade Burridge for $200, at last year's Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale for owner Masatsugu Otani.

Otani, who is based in Singapore, has thoroughbred interests in Australia, Singapore, Europe and the United States as well as his native Japan.

"He was a lovely colt at the sale and well presented by Willow Park Stud," Burridge said.

"We picked out three at the sale and were underbidders on the other two - but thankfully he was the top pick."

"He's shown Tony some good ability and it's nice to see him win today. Hopefully he has a bright future - and he's still a colt."

MAGIC $80 MILLION MILESTONE AS KASHINITE WINS

Well bred galloper Kashinite notched a major milestone for leading Australian thoroughbred sales compay Magic Millions when he scored a thrilling win at Balaklava this afternoon.

The Danzero gelding led from the barriers in the 1057 metre contest and then showed great fighting capabilities to hold out the heavily backed odds on favourite Raven Ready.

In winning and collecting the first prize cheque for his connections, Kashinite pushed the season earnings of Magic Millions winners in Australia over the $80 million barrier.

Kashinite is another successful Adelaide Yearling Sale purchase for Melbourne Cup winning trainer Mark Kavanagh.

Kavanagh purchased Kashinite for $120,000 from the draft of Trevenson Park Stud at the 2008 Morphettville based auction.

Kashinite, by Danehill's Golden Slipper winning son Danzero, is from the dual city winning and twice stakes race fourth placegetter Voilet Tints.

The Export Price mare is one of 11 winners produced by the recently retired broodmare Lady Violet.

Violet Tints is therefore a full sister to Salinger Stakes winner Notoire and half sister to three other stakes performers including Magic Millions 3YO Trophy heroine Tempest Tost.

Another of Lady Violet's daughters Springburn is the dam of the current stakes winner Happy Hippy.

Magic Millions graduates have enjoyed a wonderful season around Australia and today the earnings from wins alone in Australia has passed $80 million.

"That is quite remarkable considering more of our horses sold each year are being sought by international clients,"  Magic Millions Managing Director David Chester said.

"It is great to see our Australian clients enjoying great success and our graduates will pass the 5000 win mark within the next week."

"There's no better feeling than when your horse wins a race and this season Magic Millions graduates have won more races than in any season in history."

MAGIC DOUBLE FOR PERTH JUVENILES

Lexdane and Sound System looked bright prospects for the future when they clinched the two juvenile races at Belmont in Perth this afternoon.

The Danewin youngster Lexdane kicked away the nine race card when he scored a thrilling win in his 1400 metre event.

Prepared by Kylie Dowling, Lexdane led home a Magic Millions trifecta when he edged out Miss Vinnoire by a nose, while Chiron was another length and a half back in third place.

The gelding was backing up after running a close up fourth to Cool Handel at the corresponding meeting last week.

Dowling had no doubts that the colt would handle the seven day back up and suggested the extra 400 metres was the key to success.

"He's a pretty strong horse and I knew he could handle it,"  she said.

"I was just getting used to him a bit. He's a different kind of horse to train."

"He gets heavy really easily and that's why the distance is good."

Dowling praised Link Robertson for his heady ride aboard the juvenile colt.

"It was a good ride. He looked pretty keen early. Link was having to hold on a fair bit but he was in the right spot."

Lexdane is one of five winners for the good producing Sackford mare Sister Klaire.

She had already proven herself a quality producer when Lexdane was purchased for $50,000 from the Emirates Park draft at last year's Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale.

Her Snaadee son Toy Warrior shot to prominence by winning the Group Three Juvenile Sprint Trophy in Hong Kong.

And Lexdane's full sister Shurooq earned black type with placings in a PJ Bell Handicap (second) and James HB Carr Stakes (third). She also won in Sydney.

From just five runs, for a win and two placings, Lexdane has earned his connections $28,300. The future certainly looks bright for the rising three-year-old.

Meanwhile, Sound System broke his maiden status in brilliant style when he drew clear for an eye catching win in the Westspeed Nursery Handicap (1000m).

A gelded son of Raheen Stud based Stromberg Carlson, Sound System was purchased and is trained by renowned West Australian horsewoman Quona Cooke.

The gelding, with Lucas Camilleri in the saddle, sat off the speed before coming with a barnstorming run through the field to win stylishly.

"It's good to get a result for Quona," Camilleri said. "We've put a lot of time into the horse and we've always liked him."

"He's only a little package - but he's always shown a bit."

"He had trialled well and then great the other day and it was good to see All Friared Up win on Saturday - the form stood up and I was quite confident coming here today."

Camilleri said everything went to plan during the race and when he asked the gelding to quicken he did it in grand style.

"There was quite a bit of speed, but I was happy with that as he likes to get just in behind them and chase. "

Cooke purchased Sound System for just $10,000 from the draft of Raheen Stud at last year's Magic Millions QTIS 600 Yearling Sale.

He is the first winner for his dam, the lightly raced and placed Sanction mare Sarani.

His is the family of prolific Adelaide winning sprinter Taos Pleasure (20 wins and over $500,000) and multiple group winner and Group One placegetter Diplomatic Force.

WET TRACK NO WORRY FOR WHINER

Promising three-year-old Whiner didn't have conditions to suit in today's Fire Band Handicap at Sandown, but that didn't stop her scoring a valuable metropolitan success.

A member of the powerful John Thompson stable, Whiner sat at the head of the field throughout before skipping clear in the straight and winning by over a length.

Raced by Nathan Tinkler's Patinack Farm operation, Whiner was twice placed in Melbourne prior to her breakthrough success this afternoon.

Glen Thompson, foreman for his brother John, was impressed with the performance of Whiner considering she was more effective on firmer tracks.

"She's not 100 per cent on a wet track, so it was a good effort for her to come out and win today."

"It's a bad time of the year for her to be racing," Thompson added. "She's never far away, she's very consistent."

There are no major plans for Whiner - but connections are confident she will continue to march through the grades - particularly in races when she is on top of the ground.

"We'll take one race at a time at this stage - we don't want to get too far ahead of ourselves."

The win continued the good run for the Patinack Farm operation and lightweight Melbourne senior jockey Dean Holland.

Earlier in the year Holland notched a Group One breakthrough win in the same colours in the Australasian Oaks in Adelaide.

"He's a great little rider and very rarely rides a bad race," Thompson said of Holland. " While he's riding like this I'm sure he will be a part of the team."

Owner Nathan TinklerMoments after unsaddling Holland said he was surprised a little how well Whiner had handled the rain affected track.

"I just tried to cuddle her as long as I could so she wouldn't have to let down in (the going) for too long."

"I had a handful of horse and she let down pretty good on it."

Whiner was purchased for the Patinack Farm team by Jamie Nielsen for $30,000 at the 2008 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

She's already earned  over $50,000 and importantly is a Melbourne winner with her residual value in mind.

A daughter of Street Cry, the sire of Zenyatta and Shocking, Whiner is from the Brisbane winning Hurricane Sky mare Dedee Truitt.

As well as Whiner, Dedee Truitt has thrown the Korean winner Cheongwang (Zariz).

Dedee Truit, who all up won four races up to 1200 metres, is from a winning half sister to American stakes galloper Lord Gordon.

The family further back is proven internationally. Whiner's third and fourth dams were both stakes winners in the United States.

FLYING SPUR JUVENILE STARS IN SINGAPORE

The winning run of graduates of the Magic Millions National Horses in Training Sale in Singapore continued today when promising juvenile Top Venture scored in style at Kranji.

Prepared by first season trainer Theo Kieser, Top Venture raced clear in the straight for an almost three length win.

Kieser, a former South African who was a foreman for Laurie Laxon, is now training in his own right and he's found a likely type in Top Venture.

Top Venture, a son of Flying Spur, took the eye of Kieser when he went through his paces when offered by Baramul Stud at last year's National Horses in Training Sale.

He went to $80,000 to buy him when he went through the ring last October.

"I liked him straight away when I saw him at the Ready To Runs in the Gold Coast last year," Kieser said.

"I immediately rang Mr Chua and asked him if he was interested and he agreed on the spot."

The gelding was having his second lifetime start following an eye catching third on debut recently.

"At his debut I thought he was tailed off too far back and got caught in too much traffic. I told Joao to ride him a lot handier - once he gets him out, ride him in midfield and it’s paid off."

"I think Joao also watched the video to get a better idea how to ride him."

Top Venture is a chance of lining up in the Magic Millions Juvenile Championship on July 25.

"He’s still a big baby but he’s definitely not without ability. I am definitely considering the Juvenile for him, but I’ll have to discuss with the owner first."

Moreira was impressed and suggested that longer trips would suit the promising youngster.

"He was very green. I had to ride him out to keep him rolling forward," Moreira said.

"That tells me he will be even better over long distance. I’m not sure if how far he will go but he will definitely win some more races here and that’s good news for Theo."

Top Venture is a juvenile gelding by leading Arrowfield Stud based sire Flying Spur - a Golden Slipper winner as a racehorse and sire.

Dam Points, a lightly raced daughter of Canny Lad, is a half sister to the stakes winners Pasta Express and Stella Maree.

It is the same family as Australian stakes winners Twirled, Noted, Classy Fella, Time Out, Legally Bay, Grand Connection, Vestey, Rutherford Eagle, La Chatelaine and Ideal Planet.

MILLION DOLLAR RECORD FOR SOME ARE BENT

Grand jumper Some Are Bent sent his earnings past the magical million dollar barrier when he scored a brilliant win in the $100,000 Tom Corrigan Hurdle (3550m) at Warrnambool today.

Victoria's most popular cross country galloper, Some Are Bent notched career win 14 when he held out a class field for a determined success.

The win delighted his connections, in particular his trainer, white hot horseman Robert Smerdon.

"That was more relief than anything,"  he said following the With the focus on the jumps and with a horse like him everyone is watching him."

Some and Bent and Brad McLeanSmerdon said it was a great thrill to be play his part in making Australian racing history.

"I realise the money has gone up over the years but he's the first to win over a million dollars over jumps in this part of the world."

"It's a big achievement for him and it's testament to his longevity I guess."

And the rising nine-year-old is sure to add to his bank balance with more feature jumping events on his agenda.

"We'll continue on hurdling and probably head back toward the National."

"I thought it was a good effort (today) because he walked out of the gates, which he normally doesn't do. He had to do a little bit of work to get there - and then fought them off."

Robert Smerdon"He'd been five and a half weeks between runs so he should be improved off that - there's nothing like match practice."

Regular rider Brad McLean heaped praise on the horse who's given him his biggest thrills in racing.

"He's just a star. I think today is my 10th win on him and it takes a special horse to win ten races for you."

"He was a bit slow out. He plays around a bit in the gates these days and in a way it was a blessing in disguise. It made him relax the first 1000 metres."

"He was jumping nice I let him stride up to them and that's when he races best and he jumped grouse."

"All up it was a top effort," McLean summed up.

Some Are Bent has been an incredible money spinner for his connections after his purchase by the Aquanita Racing team at the 2003 Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale for $36,000. He's now earned $1,021,598.

The Distorted Humor gelding was bred and sold by Rob and Maureen McBryde's Summerset Park Stud on the outskirts of Gumeracha in the Adelaide Hills.

His younger half brother Black and Bent has emerged from Some Are Bent's shadow to emerge as a star of the turf.

The outstanding flat track and jumps performer was beaten a nose at his most recent outing and was found to have suffered a serious leg injury.

Prior to that he'd notched up six straight wins.

Bold GlanceFormer champion rodeo rider Norm Hilton continued his remarkable season with stable sprinter Bold Glance today cruising home to win the listed $75,000 Ascot Handicap (1200m) at Eagle Farm.

Hilton, one of Toowoomba's best known and most astute horsemen, was all smiles in the winner's stall following the win of his $21,000 bargain buy from the 2007 Magic Millions Premier Yearling Sale at the Gold Coast.

The Sequalo gelding, who was his trainers first ever stakes winner when successful in another listed event a year ago, cruised home to beat fellow Magic Millions graduate Joint Chiefs by two and a quarter lengths.

In all Hilton has won four stakes races - and Chris Munce, who partnered Bold Glance today, won three of them.

"He's been a good money-spinner for us," Hilton told AAP.

"We only paid $20,000 for him at the Magic Millions sales during EI."

Bold Glance"The horse gave me my first Listed win last year when Kristy Banks won on him in the Queensland Day Plate," he added.

"But I have to say Chris is my favourite jockey. I've won three more Listed races since then and Chris has been on them all."

Hilton said he wasn't sure what Bold Glance's future held in relation to upcoming races.

"I'm not sure what's next for him but he races best with a gap between his runs."

A graduate of the Kruger family's Lyndhurst Stud Farm, Bold Glance is a son of their star resident sire Sequalo.

JACK ATTACK: NO DOUBTING WINTER ROMP

Winner: Doubtful Jack (Not a Single Doubt-Toosie Roll)
Race: VRC Winter Championship Final LR (1600m)
Sold for $100,000
Sale: 2008 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale
Vendor: Millbrook
Buyer: Peter Moody Racing
Owner(s): AJ Meads
Earnings: $362,165
Trainer: Peter Moody (Caulfield)

Doubtful JackDoubtful Jack raced into contention for Group One features during the Spring Carnival after he demoralised his rivals in today's $200,000 listed Winter Championship Final (1600m) at Flemington.

Ridden confidently by Luke Nolen, Doubtful Jack sat just off the speed for much of the race before steaming through between runners and then racing away for the most impressive win in the history of the time honoured feature event.

Winning trainer Peter Moody, who purchased the Not a Single Doubt galloper for $100,000 from the 2008 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, was delighted with the six and a half length rout.

"I think he's booked himself a spring carnival," Moody said. "He couldn't have been more impressive the last three (furlongs)."

Moody said the gelding, who is now the winner of six races and over $373,000, had always shown ability, but in recent weeks had taken major strides forward.

Doubtful Jack"I'm not surprised. I've always thought he was a horse with good ability."

"But the leap he has made in the last six weeks has been phenomenal."

"It's seemed so effortless for him when he stepped up to the 1400 (metres) the other day and the mile today."

"It's been a great transition so I' think we'll go home, sit down and reasses with him now."

"His only two real disappointing runs have been in Sydney and the Gold Coast - racing in the other direction."

"And he may not have been mentally quite there (then). He's matured nicely off that summer break and he's come back a much better horse."

Doubtful JackIn the $1 million Magic Millions 3YO Trophy at the Gold Coast in January Doubtful Jack finished ninth - without doubt the form race of the current racing season.

And back in his home state of Victoria the rising star has taken another step forward with his form continuing to improve.

"That form (today) is good enough to win a nice race in the spring, but if he improves again he might win a real good one in the spring."

"My initial thought was with that kind of horse you'd tackle a couple of those early weight for age races when the other horses aren't up to their mark."

"But the way he's dealt with them there today we might have to give him a bit of a break and look at a race like the Toorak (Handicap) or something."

"You'd get into a race like that with a very low weight and putting in some sort of performance like that - you'd go close to winning it."

"Allan has been a client for four or five years. He's got a few handy horses - Al's Best Mate and a couple of nice young ones as well."

"He's in Brisbane with his daughters today and I'm sure he's having a nice ale up there."

Doubtful Jack ($1.60-$1.70-$1.60 fav) raced clear in the straight and despite being eased down by Luke Nolen he still had a six and a half length margin over Pinnacles ($21-$26).

Another half length back in third place was the last start winner Riceman ($10-$14).

The first stakes winner for his sire Not a Single Doubt, Doubtful Jack is a half brother to two winners including the four time victory Furla.

That daughter of Spartacus is the dam of current day Gold Coast trained speedster Fab Fevola - a recent winner and stakes placegetter in Queensland.

Doubtful Jack's dam, the unraced Marscay mare Tootside Roll, is a full sister to the Adelaide group winner Honour Code.

DEMANDING PREP ENDS IN STYLE

Quality filly Demanding Miss will head to the paddock for a well deserved spell after a comprehensive win in the Spring Carnival Package on Sale Handicap (1400m) at Randwick today.

The Commands filly bounced back after a horror run in the recent Group One TJ Smith at her home track of Eagle Farm to win the Sydney juvenile in great fashion.

Demanding Miss has always been held in high regard by leading Brisbane trainer Barry Baldwin and she made a booming start to her career when in October when won at Eagle Farm.

She ran second in the listed Calaway Gal Stakes, fourth in the listed Bruce McLachlan Stakes and third in the $2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic at her next three runs - in each race she chased home the star filly Military Rose.

"She's had a tough time," Baldwin said. "She was in Brisbane and then came down to Sydney, went back home and then is back down here again."

Demanding Miss"Last time out in the TJ Smith she had a bad run and she pulled up a bit stressed and had to barrier trial."

"So she's done a pretty good job," he added.

Baldwin said the twice stakes placed and Brisbane and Sydney winning filly would head to paddock for a well deserved spell.

The filly, earlier sold at the 2008 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale by Attunga Stud, was purchased as a yearling at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale for $50,000 from the draft of Widden Stud.

Demanding Miss has already won her owner, former country jockey David Woodhouse, $263,300.

Demanding Miss is the only named foal to date for the three time winning and Brisbane and Sydney placed mare Agony.

Demanding MissA daughter of influential international sire Royal Academy, Demanding Miss is a three quarter sister to stakes winner Portsmouth (Helene Momentum in Hong Kong) and half sister to former outstanding filly Angst.

Other stakes winners in her family include the likes of Melodie Belle, Harmony Boy and Feel the Noise.

Meanwhile, moments later in Adelaide the excellent first season run for Lyndhurst Stud sire Hidden Dragon continued when Obsidian Dragon won the juvenile race at Morphettville Parks.

With Clare Lindop in the saddle, Obsidian Dragon showed plenty of speed and then plenty of fight in the straight to draw clear of Novaspirit and win in great style.

Trainer David Balfour selected and purchased Obsidian Dragon for $23,000 from the Lyndurst draft at the 2008 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale.

She has already earned $68,800 from just a handful of starts and she looks to have a bright future ahead.

KUDETA ANOTHER CLASSIC BUY FOR VERN

Renowned mudlark Kudeta gave the team from Classic Bloodstock Services plenty to cheer about when he cruised to victory at Sandown today.

Relishing the heavy track conditions, Kudeta cruised home for a soft win as a wall of horses tried in vain to chase - but they were no match for the winner.

Trainer Heath Conners said the Snowland gelding came into his own during the winter months.

"He's a really honest horse and he loves these heavy track - a nine or ten (rating)."

"You go to the races and you know you can tell your owners to put a couple of dollars each way and you know he's going to be competitive."

Conners said the classy type was much better suited today than at his last run when the Sandown meeting was switched to the synthetic track at Geelong.

"We went to the races the other day at Geelong - he tries his heart out but it's too firm for him."

"It's good to see him back in the winner's stall here today with Eddie (Cassar) on him."

"They get on very well and he'll be sticking on for sure."

Conners paid tribute to Vern Rayner - a long time supporter of his family over many years.

"I've been in Melbourne for 12 years and he's been with us that long and as soon as I got my licence seven years ago he stuck with me."

"I get half a dozen horses of Vern every year and he gives me good quality horses."

The win gave seasoned Victorian rider Eddie Cassar a well deserved metropolitan success.

Cassar and Kudeta have teamed up on eight occasions with the outstanding record of five wins and two second placings.

"I wish they could all do that."

Cassar said there was "nothing special" as to the reason why the pair have such a wonderful record together.

"I think I just get on him at the right time."

"Heath seems to have him Mickey Mouse when I've been given the opportunity to ride him."

"I'm just fortunate that he's one of the few people who will leave me on them when they come to town."

Kudeta was purchased by Rayner, one of the country's best value buying syndicators, for just $15,000 from the draft of Middlebrook Valley at the 2006 Magic Millions National Yearling Sale.

His record now reads out at nine wins and nine minor placings from 35 starts and earnings of over $140,000.

By the former outstanding sprinter Snowland (Snippets), Kudeta is a lightly raced Puissance mare Cyanic.

Cyanic, who is from the top producing Rascolnik mare Delicious Blue, is a half sister to five stakes gallopers including Memphis Blues, Palatious and Evasion.

The Perth Cup and CB Cox Stakes winner Palatious is the dam of Group One winner Danelagh - she in turn the dam of globetrotting star Vengeance of Rain.

STORM BURST OFF TO PADDOCK IN STYLE

Storm Burst will be sent to the paddock with black type races in mind after a narrow, but impressive win at Sandown this afternoon.

Sent out at extremely short odds following a runaway win last time out at Cranbourne, Storm Burst came back from what looked to be certain defeat to win in good style.

No sooner had the Danehill Dancer filly skipped clear of her rivals in the straight, than the lighter weighted Melted came storming home down the outside of the track.

Showing great fight, Storm Bust fought back, regained the lead and edged clear, much to the delight of her connections and a large band of punters.

"It was a good tough win,"  winning trainer Peter Moody said. "The other horse (Melted) was the one to beat and at the weights I certainly had concerns about it."

"It was a good gutsy effort and with the weight different it was probably better than it looked."

Moody said today's race was a bit of a bonus - as he planned to send her for a break following her previous Cranbourne win.

But he decided to give her a chance at being a city winning juvenile prior to the break and she did the job.

"I think she might be a nice horse in the autumn. She's got good upside - she's a good doer."

"She might be back in late spring for a little campaign - but I think in the autumn she will be worth chasing better races."

Winning rider Luke Nolen, who like Moody will be a premiership winner in Melbourne at the end of the season, also predicted a nice future for the well related filly.

"She's a winner. All of her runs this time in have been good."

"She didn't win with the ease she did last time - but with the handicap conditions she was weighted up to her best but still won."

Luke Nolen"She might have got a bit complacent. I think she will make a nice autumn filly - there's plenty of upside."

Moody knew of the good ability of Storm Burst and went to the Gold Coast to the recent Magic Millions National Yearling Sale and went to $200,000 to secure her three quarter sister from the draft of Redbank North.

That filly is a daughter of Fastnet Rock and she was one of the top priced lots at the auction.

Moody purchased Storm Burst herself from the same ring for $60,000 at the 2009 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the draft of Coolmore Stud.

By the same sire as Private Steer, Choisir and Light Fantastic, Storm Burst is from an Oaks and Derby placed daughter of Thunder Gulch.

Storm Fille, her dam, won two races at two and trained on to finish second in a WA Oaks before an excellent third in the WA Derby.

A winner of over $150,000, Storm Fille has produced three winners including seven time victor Greatwall of China.

She is also a half sister to the five time stakes placed Suave Dancer mare Chestnut Dream.

It is also the same family as kiwi stars Maze and Penitentiary and their Aussie based half brother Barlinnie.

SQUAMOSA STARS ON DEBUT

Gai Waterhouse and Denise Martin unearthed yet another likely stakes performer of the future at Randwick today with Squamosa winning brilliantly on debut.

A two-year-old son of Not a Single Doubt, Squamosa was sent out the hot favourite after a pair of brilliant trial wins at Warwick Farm and he lived up to the trials with a poweful on speed performance.

All smiles in the winner's stall after the impressive was the colt's purchaser, leading Sydney syndicator Denise Martin of Star Thoroughbreds.

"He's a really smart colt," Martin beamed. "He's got a stack of ability."

"He's owned by the same family in Malaysia who race Gigas so they're in with another great chance of high class racing with this colt."

SquamosaMartin purchased Squamosa from the draft of Arrowfield Stud at last year's Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale for $140,000.

In the run to the line Squamosa cruised home to beat fellow Gold Coast graduate Sabeen by three lengths.

The rest of the field, headed by Noble Romp, was another two and three quarter lengths back.

Winning rider Nash Rawiller couldn't help but be impressed with the easy victory.

"He's a young colt and probably a bit cheeky. He's got really nice ability."

"He's the sort of horse who I thought would get through this sort of ground."

"He's got a future," Rawiller summed up.

Not a Single Doubt, who won the Canonbury Stakes and placed in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic, had already been represented by no fewer than seven stakes performers with just two crops to race.

Sale: 2007 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale
Vendor: Alwyn Park Stud
Buyer: KL Chong
Owner(s): Milton Stable
Earnings: M$1,209,825
Trainer: KL Chong (Malaysia)

Captain Obvious stamped himself as the best sprinter in Malaysia with an awesome twelve length win in the M$1 million Astro Wah Lai Toi Sprint Trophy (1400m) in Penang today.

A member of the KL Chong stable, Captain Obvious led home a trifecta clean sweep result for Australia's leading thoroughbred sales company, Magic Millions.

The gelded son of Verglas beat home Happy Victory (King's Best) and Impact (Eternity Range) in the classic sprint contest.

Magic Millions Managing Director David Chester was at the track to witness the most dominant Sprint Trophy win ever.

"Captain Obvious treated his rivals with contempt - it was awesome stuff," Chester said. "It was a remarkable performance and a great advertisement for the Western Australian industry."

"Every placegetter was bred in Australia and sold by Magic Millions - it was a great result to further confirm our status as the region's leading exporter of quality bloodstock."

"KL Chong - a long time visitor to Perth for our annual Yearling Sale - purchased Captain Obvious for $24,000 from the 2007 sale."

He was bred and sold by Alwyn Park Stud, the property of WABBA Vice-President John Andrew.

"John is here at the races today to see Captain Obvious win and he's right now down at the trophy presentation - he's delighted as you could imagine," Chester commented.

"When you convert Captain Obvious' earnings back he's earned well over $440,000 - not bad for a $24,000 buy - and he's only had 12 starts."

With Benny Woodworth in the saddle, Captain Obvious held a twelve length margin on the line over Happy Victory (Samsir), while Impact (Chavez) was another two and a half lengths back.

Captain Obvious has now won eight of his 12 runs in Malaysia and shot to prominence when earlier in his career he cruised to victory in a Malaysian Magic Millions Classic.

By former smart French group winner Verglas, he is one of three winners produced by the Tirol mare Shathor.

Shathor is a half sister to the Group One Karrakatta Plate winner and sire Umah.

The race's runner-up Happy Victory was purchased for just $21,000 from the draft of Collingrove Stud at the 2006 Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale.

Third placegetter Impact, a Mungrup Stud graduate, cost $22,000 at the 2005 Magic Millions Perth Horses in Training Sale.

ROSE AND SIVADIO: BLOOMIN' GOOD PAIR

Talented Melbourne apprentice Nathan Rose scored the biggest win of his career when he partnered Sivadio to victory in today's $100,000 CRV Community Cup (2000m) at Ballarat.

Rose ws able to have the gelding in the running line on the outside of runners for much of the race, before he worked up the leaders shortly after straightning for home.

He skipped clear in the straight and established a winning break and cruised to the line a length clear of Streaky Fella.

A $120,000 purchase from the draft of Eureka Thoroughbreds at the 2005 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Sivadio is a talented galloper who has an exceptional record when ridden by Rose.

"Being a $100,000 race, it would be the biggest race I've won, so it's a big thrill."

"It's all really about this horse," a delighted Rose said. "I've had six rides on him now for four wins, a second and a third."

"He's been fantastic to me and it's great to have Stephen (Theodore, trainer) supporting me as well."

Rose, apprenticed to Cranbourne father-daughter training partnership Colin and Cindy Alderson, was happy with how the gelding kicked in the straight.

Stephen Theodore"From the outside gate we were always going to have trouble getting in. I would have liked to have been in about fourth, one out and one back in an ideal world."

"But we got trapped three deep for the trip, but with cover and coming to the 500 the leaders starting stopping."

"Once I balance him up and ask him to go - he just goes."

Sivadio has raced on 37 occsions for seven wins and nine minor placings and earnings now of an ever increasing $133,477.

The gelding is a full brother to Scenic Peak - a winner of the Group One Emirates Stakes and earner of $963,000.

Their dam Chesapeake, an unraced daughter of Marscay, is also the dam of the winner Shirbelle, who in turn is the dam of Tasmanian stakes winner Personal Peak and Melbourne stakes placegetter Bodgie.

Chesapeake is a half sister to the stakes placed duo Birch Bark and Real Dream.

RAMORNIE NEXT FOR RED HOT WOORIM

Winner: Woorim (Show a Heart-Wabble)
Race: SCTC Glasshouse Handicap Cup LR (2400m)
Passed for $65,000
Sale: 2007 Magic Millions National Yearling Sale
Vendor: Glenlogan Park (As Agent)
Reserve: $75,000
Owner(s): Showtime Breeding Pty Ltd Synd (Mgr: R Cutts)
Earnings: $311,200
Trainer: Robert Heathcote (Eagle Farm)

WoorimWoorim will head to Grafton for the Ramornie Handicap after a brilliant win in the $176,000 listed Glasshouse Handicap (1400m) at the Sunshine Coast this afternoon.

Ridden from the back of the field in the feature sprint, Woorim flew home between runners in the straight to get up and beat last start Eye Liner Stakes winner Adnocon by a length.

Another three parts of a length back was New Zealand based Group One winner King Mufhasa.

The win, the third in a row for the four-year-old, was welcomed by leading Eagle Farm trainer Robert Heathcote who has worked hard on the gelding who's had hoof troubles for quite some time.

Woorim"He's got very flat feet and they bruise very easily," Heathcote told AAP.

"So we're constantly working on his feet. We soak his feet in Epsom salts morning, midday and afternoon."

"We pack his feet with special clays and poultices to take the bruising out of his soles and we're seeing the results."

Woorim was locked in between runners for a period that seemed an eternity to Heathcote.

"I was just saying to myself, 'Get out Stathi, get out'," Heathcote said.

Woorim"He's a great rider and that's why you put these blokes on because they never panic at crucial stages."

Katsidis said Woorim's reluctance to take tight runs, saw him switch to the inside of runners in the straight.

"There was always a run there. But he's a big chicken and when I saw the run come on the inside I thought I'd switch back and take the safer option," Katsidis said.

"But he still had to pick up and go after being held up - the horse is just absolutely flying."

Happy connectionsWith six wins now and earnings of over $315,000, Woorim is a great conveyance for his connections.

The prizemoney haul is impressive considering he could have been yours at the 2007 Magic Millions National Yearling Sale for just $75,000.

By leading Glenlogan Park stallion Show a Heart, Woorim is one of three winners, from three to race, for the Canadian Silver mare Wabble.

As well as Woorim, Wabble is the dam of My Limit, another son of Show a Heart, who's a six times winner and Group Three placegetter.

Buyer: Brian Jenkins
Owner(s): I Burford, Strawberry Hill Stud (Mgr J Singleton), M McKeough, D McKeough, A Margan & D North
Earnings: $254,450
Trainer: Gerald Ryan (Rosehill)

IronsteinLong term Cup plans are on the agenda for progressive stayer Ironstein following his impressive win in today's $202,000 listed Caloundra Cup (2400m) at the Sunshine Coast.

A $250,000 graduate of the 2007 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Ironstein made it three straight wins in his first run in Queensland.

Prior to the Caloundra Cup he scored impressive back to back wins at Rosehill when partnered by top Sydney apprentice Blake Spriggs.

This time around seasoned Queensland senior rider took the mount and he rode the four-year-old brilliantly.

IronsteinThe gelding shot to the front shortly after straightening for home after racing just off the speed throughout the mile and a half contest.

While the margin was being cut near the line by kiwi stayer Tinseltown, the neck victory was an impressive one.

Winning trainer Gerald Ryan said the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups could be a major goal for the son of Zabeel - but it won't be in 2010.

"There was some talk about him running this spring but he won't go," Ryan told AAP.

Ironstein"I won't be surprised if the two Cup races are on his agenda next season when he'll be a six-year-old."

"When he first came to me from Melbourne he had no form and had a bad reputation."

Ryan said connections were now looking at the possibility of running Ironstein next in the Grafton Cup.

"Ever since Jim Cassidy rode him and put half a wrap on him when he ran third at Rosehill we picked out the Caloundra and Grafton Cups," Ryan said.

"All the boys (who own him) are looking forward to him running at Grafton and now they'll have a bit of confidence."

Ironstein, by champion Cambridge Stud based sire Zabeel, is the first foal of the former outstanding race mare Gentle Genius.

The Danehill mare won at stakes level but is best remembered for almost beating the champion Sunline in a Group One Coolmore Classic.

Sadly Gentle Genius died last year.

Trainer: Howard Wilson (Gold Coast)

Fifteen CaratStathi Katsidis got an extra buzz out of winning today's listed Sunshine Coast Guineas (1600m) at Caloundra aboard promising three-year-old Fifteen Carat.

The three-year-old gelding is part owned by Katsidis' fiancee Melissa Jackson and Katisidis is predicting a bright future for the son of Show a Heart.

"He's very good but right now I'd rate him a Group Two or Group Three horse," Katsidis told AAP.

"But I think he can go to the next level with a little more improvement," he added.

Trainer Howard Wilson said Fifteen Carat would be sent for an immediate spell before connections choose a program of feature races for later in the year.

"He'll go for a spell now and then go to Sydney for the spring, but I honestly don't know for what races."

Fifteen Carat"I was thinking about Melbourne, but that's off the agenda now," he added.

Wilson has always held a high opinion of the three-year-old, who was originally this preparation on a Queensland Derby preparation.

"He ran a great race to finish third in the Queensland Guineas behind Rothesay but I still think he could have beaten him if he could have been a little closer."

A $22,000 purchase for Robert Stewart from the draft of Warrandale Stud at the 2008 Magic Millions QTIS 600 Yearling Sale, Fifteen Carat is turning out a great value buy.

With three wins and five minor placings from just 14 starts, Fifteen Carat has already earned his connections an impressive $192,400.

Fifteen CaratAs a two-year-old Fifteen Carat was also put through his paces at the 2008 Magic Millions National Horses in Training Sale at the Gold Coast.

He is the 18th stakes winner for his sire, following in the hoofsteps of stars including Heart of Dreams, Mimi Lebrock, Toorak Toff, Rightfully Yours and Gotta Have Heart.

Fifteen Carat is the first winner for the Snippets mare Brynica, a daughter of the stakes winning Polish Patriot mare Little Pattie.

It is the well known Just Now family that includes the stakes winners McClintock, Telltina and Lolita Star.

Meanwhile, earlier in the day there wasn't a dry eye in the winner's stall when Gentle Giant won the inaugural running of the Bruce McLachlan 2YO Classic.

Jason McLachlan with Gentle GiantPrepared by McLachlan's son Jason, Gentle Giant was named after his father, who died last year.

McLachlan told AAP the win provided him with his biggest thrill in racing.

"This means more to me than anything, and I mean that. It means more than the Golden Slipper and the Magic Millions put together."

"It's just great to be able to win it and to do it for these owners and my mother is an overwhelming experience.

"My mother's my life and to share it with her makes it more special," he added.

ILLUMINATES SHINES IN CIVIC

Winner: Illuminates (Strategic-Dazzle Light)

Vendor: Baramul Stud
Buyer: Graeme Rogerson
Sold for $460,000
Sale: 2010 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale
Vendor: Dormello Stud
Buyer: Baramul Stud
Earnings: $813,750
Owner(s): G Harvey
Trainer: Graeme Rogerson (Randwick)

IlluminatesThe immediate racing future of classy mare Illuminates is set to be decided in a couple of weeks following her impressive come from behind win in today's listed Civic Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill.

Owner Gerry Harvey is set to give the daughter of Strategic another run in stakes company before he decides whether she races on or is sent to stud.

"She'll probably run in the Winter Stakes in a couple of weeks,"  Harvey's racing manager Claire Bird said. "And from there a decision will be made as to whether she heads straight to stud or she stays in work another season."

If the mare is retired she will be mated in her first season at stud with the Group One winning sprinter Swiss Ace.

Swiss Ace was recently acquired by Harvey and will stand at his New Zealand based stud of Westbury.

IlluminatesHarvey bred Illuminates and sold her for $86,000 to trainer Graeme Rogerson at the 2006 Magic Millions National Yearling Sale at the Gold Coast.

He kept a share in her after the sale and recently secured 100 per cent of the mare when she was put up for sale at June's Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale. Harvey went to $460,000 to buy her last month.

A grand race mare, Illuminates is now a three time stakes winner - having won the Aspiration Handicap and Angst Stakes at black type level.

She turned in one of the best runs of her career when she beat all but champion mare Typhoon Tracy in the Group One Queen of the Turf Stakes earlier this preparation.

The Strategic mare has either won or placed in 11 stakes races and she's earned a staggering $813,000.

IlluminatesHer win today was one of four on the card for Melbourne Cup winning jockey Corey Brown.

"I was telling Claire (Bird) after the race that Illuminates is a funny little thing," Brown said.

"She's a great ride but she gives you a bit of a false feel, you're not really sure how well she is going to quicken and how she'll hit the line."

"She took a bit of winding up in the straight but once she did, she let down really well and I'm not saying it was all over but I knew I had Blake covered."

Illuminates is one of two winners produced by the unraced Danzero mare Dazzle Light - a half sister to group winner Stoway and daughter of Group One Queensland Oaks winner Travel Light.

Also in the family are Group One winner Only a Lady, group winners Roman Candle and Dream Machine and listed winners Redwood Falls and Lisson Grove.

HIT GRADUATES STAR IN SINGAPORE

The winning streak of graduates of the Magic Millions Horses in Training Sale continued in Singapore on Friday night with a pair of brilliant winners.

Bionic Boy led the way with a track record breaking win in the $125,000 Open Classic Stakes (1000m) on the Kranji Polytrack.

The Stephen Burridge prepared son of Falvelon was caught deep for much of the race, but under Mark Gallagher he picked up strongly and hit the line first in a thrilling finish.

The winning time of 58.07 seconds took two tenths off Break Free's track record.

A $35,000 purchase from the draft of Robyn Wise at the 2007 Magic Millions National Horses in Training Sale, Bionic Boy has won five races from 14 starts and earned almost $300,000.

Burridge was a happy man in the winner's stall - impressed with the finishing burst from the Australian bred gelding.

"He probably needed the run last time after being caught wide," Burridge said. "We thought he had some chance tonight but again he was caught wide."

"But they went mad up in front and with him liking it a bit further he was able to drive hard to the line."

Burridge said he would "keep raising the bar" with Bionic Boy following his first success in open company.

Strata StarEarlier in the night Australia's champion first season sire Stratum was in the news when his promising juvenile Strata Star won on debut.

Prepared by Michael Clements, Strata Star was a $70,000 purchase from last October's Horses in Training Sale, purchased from the draft of Symphony Lodge.

He was being sold on behalf of well known Queensland based horseman Edward O’Dwyer.

Clements is aiming the speedy customer at the Group Three Magic Millions Juvenile Championship (1200m) on July 25.

"He has shown excellent trial form, winning two from two, but he's obviously still very green."

"Joao (Moreira, rider) told me he kept jumping shadows, and that was why he had to push him out early around the home turn to get him away from the other horse."

"On that run he had to be serious contender for the Juvenile. I bought him myself at the Magic Millions Breeze-Up last October."

Bionic Boy and Strata Star weren't the only Magic Millions graduates to impress at Kranji last night.

Model Citizen (Honours List), Golden Spirit (Saratoga Springs) and Summer in the City (Great Dane) were also visitors to the winner's stall.

SPIRITED EAGLE DOES IT AGAIN

Promising juvenile Spirited Eagle will head to the paddock with bigger races in mind after a thrilling win at Moonee Valley this afternoon.

The Not a Single Doubt two-year-old notched career victory three and make it back to back Melbourne wins when he edged out Hovercraft by a short half head.

"I thought he got there, but he was in a bit of trouble near the turn and he got into a bit of a bumping dual. I think he will be better suited on a bigger track."

"With the big weight and on the rain affected track he's done a good job."

"I've always thought the horse was a very smart horse. And I think he will get a fair bit further in the future even though he is by Not a Single Doubt."

Macdonald said the gelding had done enough this preparation and he would be immediately heading to the paddock.

"We might see him a bit later in the spring, but we might give him a nice long spell and get him ready for the autumn."

"But we'll work that out, Wolf (Blass, owner) and I," he added.

Winning rider Clare Lindop made the trip across from Adelaide to partner the talented youngster and she predicted bigger and better things from the $85,000 Magic Millions Yearling Sale purchase.

"He's a beautiful horse to handle," Lindop reported. "But in his races he does like to charge a bit."

"We're trying to get him to settle because we want him to stay a bit."

Clare LindopThe juvenile gelding was purchased by renowned Adelaide horseman and bloodstock agent Adrian Hancock for $85,000 at last year's Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Hancock took a shine to the youngster from the Arrowfield Stud draft and purchased him on behalf of well known businessman and thoroughbred lover Wolf Blass.

The promising youngster has already earned the Blass' over $132,000 from just six runs.

The two-year-old gelding is a son of the Magic Millions 2YO Classic runner-up Not a Single Doubt - an exciting young sire son of Redoute's Choice standing at Arrowfield.

His dam Rezidencia, a daughter of Carnegie, won two races, including one at Moonee Valley and is a daughter of the triple group winner an Stradbroke Handicap runner-up Society Bay.

Rezidencia is therefore a half sister to three stakes performers including the New Zealand Group Two and Brisbane Group Three winner Society Beau.

Another half sister, the winning mare Logical Lady, is the dam of the dual New Zealand Group One winning and American Group Two winning filly Final Destination.

It is also the family of the Hong Kong Champions Mile winner Sight Winner and AJC St Leger winner Duanette's Girl.
