MOSSMAN'S DOUBLE BOOSTS MILLIONS SALES

A pair of three-year-old fillies by leading Vinery Stud stallion Mossman impressed in races in Brisbane in Perth and gave their sale bound half relations timely boosts in the lead up to two of the country's leading auctions.

Mossriver was the first leg of the double when she scored a brilliant win at Eagle Farm.

The win was so impressive that trainer David Murphy said the $12,000 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale graduate would immediately be tested in stakes class.

"That was a nice win but it didn't surprise me," Murphy told AAP.

"She had no luck off an awkward gate at Caloundra last start and the good alley (5) today made all the difference."

"She'll go to the Listed fillies and mares race over 1200 metres next start and if she wins or races well I'll put her away for the winter carnival next year."

"I'd like to see if she can stay next campaign."

"If she can she'll be set for the Queensland Oaks. She'll start of an Oaks campaign after she comes back from a spell."

Seasoned Brisbane rider Michael Cahill couldn't have been more impressed with the performance of the Mossman filly.

"That was one of the easiest wins from a maiden I've seen for a while," Cahill reported.

"It was amazing," he added.

Mossriver is one of two winners, from two to race, for the winning Danehill mare Flying Alice.

The latest yearling from Flying Alice, a bay colt by Husson, is being prepared by the team from Heytesbury Thoroughbreds for February's Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale.

The colt is a member of the first crop of Hussonet's Champion 2YO son Husson - a resident of Patinack Farm in the Hunter Valley.

Meanwhile, a yearling headed to January's Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale received a boost from the west when promising young galloper Charmoss won at Ascot.

A $35,000 purchase from last year's Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale, Charmoss cruised home under Paul Harvey to win by two lengths.

Former top jockey Stephen Miller was on course at Ascot today representing Carmoss' trainer Bob McPherson.

"The old boss, he's a bit sore at the moment, but I think that win today will put a big smile on his face."

Miller said connections went into today's event quietly confident their charge would be one of the horses to beat.

"She worked very well on Saturday morning and her last run was a pretty good run - she was pretty green."

"Obviously having Paul (Harvey) on, you get that experience and the way he's riding at the moment and with the way she worked on Saturday morning - it all went down good for the boss."

Charmoss, another daughter of Mossman, is a half or three quarter sister to three winners including the Singapore champion Why Be.

Why Be, a son of Success Express, won 21 races and earned over $1.6 million during his illustrious career that won him eight black type events.

Charmoss and Why Be are both from the unraced Royal Academy mare Charybdis - a daughter of the Rubiton stakes winning mare Balm in Gilead.

The latest yearling from Charybdis, an attractive bay filly by Casino Prince, is being prepared by Widden Stud for January's Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

She is one of the headline acts from the first crop of Casino Prince - a Group One winning son of Flying Spur. His half brother by Redoute's Choice is also bound for the Gold Coast's pin up auction.
