Exceptionally bred sire Patronize topped Sunday’s Magic Millions Winter Thoroughbred Sale at Belmont.
A two time winner on the track, Patronize was purchased by locally based buyer Premium Bloodstock for $60,000.
A son of Redoute’s Choice, Patronize has made a positive start to his career as a sire with six winners from just 16 starters including four city winners headlined by black type performer Jestpatim.
Patronize is a Redoute’s Choice three quarter brother to this season’s Champion Australian Sire Exceed and Excel.
The second top price for the day came for the lightly raced three-year-old filly Selecting.
Offered by Parnham’s Racing Stable, Selecting was purchased by Andrew Webster for $28,000.
Selecting is by globetrotting sire Choisir and from the stakes performed, grand producer Dewamar, making her a half sister to Group One winners St. Basil and Pantani.
Another of the Parnham’s Racing Stable offerings to attract good interest was another three-year-old filly, Futurism.
A winner this season over 1200 metres and fourth in the listed Raconteur Stakes, Futurism was knocked down to Premium Bloodstock for $17,000.
Futurism is a daughter of last season’s champion sire Lonhro and is from a Sydney winning Hurricane Sky half sister to Melbourne and Sydney stakes winner Antiquity.
All up yesterday 94 per cent of all offerings were sold helping produce a sale gross of $270,550 and average of $2,848.
