Unbeaten Amorino Chases Millions

Amorino sent a warning to his rivals in the upcoming BMW Magic Millions 2YO Classic with a stunning win at Rosehill today.

Trainer Gerald Ryan declared the youngster spot on for Queensland’s richest race after he showed speed throughout to lead home another Magic Millions trifecta result in the Sydney juvenile.

The two-year-old son of Snitzel had the audacity to sprint clear of the field in the straight after being involved in a speed battle with other fancied runners Kuchinskaya and Hidden Warrior.

While the other two runners dropped off over the concluding stages, Amorino was able to knuckle down again and race clear for the most impressive of wins.

“I think he’s a very nice horse,” a delighted Gerald Ryan said of Amorino.

“He had the break after his first run and he didn’t even have the jump out before the trial which I usually do.”

“He’s a nice horse who’d done nice work. He’s an athletic horse who doesn’t carry a lot of weight, hence he doesn’t cop a lot of work.”

“I’m going to the Gold Coast probably more confident than I ever have before – even with Snitzel.”

“I may have over-taxed a couple going there before – but this horse will be second up and I think there’s nice improvement (in him).”

“I think he’s a very good horse,” Ryan added.

“A good barrier (at the Gold Coast) will be good,” he added. “But he’s been a horse who’s always shown he would go well with the sit.”

Seasoned jockey Jim Cassidy said he was looking forward to the BMW Magic Millions 2YO Classic on January 14.

“It was a very impressive win today,” Cassidy said. “I knew I had a bit of quality so I used it.”

“The pleasing thing was he did it at both ends – with a big weight and he’s got some improvement,” he added.

Amorino was a $70,000 purchase from the draft of Arrowfield Stud during the fifth session of January’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Raced by the Galante family from Perth, Amorino is one of three winners for the well related Marauding mare Steal My Love.

A winner and Sydney placegetter during a short career, Steal My Love is a daughter of the stakes placed Stormy Exchange, making her a half sister to Group One winner Danendri.

It’s the same family as classy stakes winners including Zingam, Shanzero, What’s the Mail, Banc De Fortune, Copperama, Chickens and Do You Think.
