Viscount Filly Tops Perth Sale Opener

A filly by Rocket Man’s sire Viscount topped the opening session of the Magic Millions Perth Winter Thoroughbred Sale this evening.

The filly, a half sister to the Magic Millions Perth 2YO Classic winner Rose of Thunder, was purchased by local Nicky Brown for $21,000.

She was the clear top lot during the session, in which only weanlings were offered.

Over $100,000 changed hands for 50 lots sold at a healthy clearance rate of 81 per cent.

The top priced offering, catalogued as lot number 24, was offered by Oakland Park Stud, as agent.

She is the latest youngster produced by the Conquistarose mare Zanta Rose – a half sister to New Zealand based stakes winner Stone Rose.

Zanta Rose has produced three winners, from four to race, including the black type performer Rose of Thunder – a winner of six races and over $170,000.

Rose of Thunder is best known these days as the dam of the city winning and stakes performed Oratorio galloper Wizards Point.

Viscount, the sire of tonight’s top selling filly, is a former champion racehorse who has been in the news in recent years through the exploits of his champion Singapore based son Rocket Man.

A graduate of Magic Millions, Rocket Man is the best horse to have ever raced in Singapore and he’s being prepared for upcoming Group One features in Japan, Hong Kong, Dubai and Singapore.

The sale will conclude on Sunday when a quality line up of race horses, fillies and mares will go under the hammer.

The session will commence at 11am with the latest reduction sale from Peters Investments and continue through the day with some good prospects.
