Four Stakes Wins on Big Boxing Day

Star Queenslanders Zelady’s Night Out and Madotti confirmed their places in the multi-million dollar feature races on Magic Millions raceday when they won black type events on Boxing Day at the Gold Coast.

Zelady’s Night Out extended her unbeaten run to three when she beat the boys and delighted her connections by winning the BJ McLachlan Stakes at Group Three level. The Myboycharlie filly, who cost $65,000 from the draft of Yarraman Park Stud at last January’s Gold Coast Yearling Sale, is eligible for the $500,000 Magic Millions Racing Women bonus – it could be a massive payday in just over a week for her connections if she was to win the $2 million Jeep Magic Millions 2YO Classic. Zelady’s Night Out is trained by Tony Gollan who is looking at having a strong team at the $10 million raceday on January 9.

Madotti meanwhile emerged as one of the leading local challengers for the $2 million Gold Coast Magic Millions 3YO Guineas when she finished too well to win the Group Three Vo Rogue Plate. Part owned by trainer Matthew Dunn, Madotti was purchased for $80,000 at the 2014 Magic Millions Gold Coast March Yearling Sale from the Glenlogan Park draft. The Falvelon filly finally had luck on her side in the Vo Rogue and the win was a valuable one – her first at group level.

Bachman completed a big day at the Gold Coast for Magic Millions purchases when he rattled home to win an emotional listed Goldmarket Handicap – the last event to be called by legendary local commentator Alan Thomas. By former Gold Coast graduate All American, Bachman is trained by Gerald Ryan and was purchased for $180,000 from the Arrowfield Stud draft at the 2013 Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Quality Sydney mare Cradle Me made it back to back features when she capped the big day for Magic Millions graduates by winning the listed Canterbury Classic. Trained by David Pfieffer, Cradle Me (Easy Rocking) finished too strong on the inside on the track to win on ground through unsuitable for the in form galloper. Cradle Me was sold by Magic Millions as a yearling at the Gold Coast for $3,000 and then $28,000 at the 2YOs in Training Sale from the same ring about 8 months later. Her vendors on those occasions were Wattle Brae Stud and Pointon and Howard Racing respectively.
