The catalogues for the Southern Hemisphere’s leading breeding stock event – the Magic Millions National Weanling and Broodmare Sales – are now online.

The finest Australian and international bloodlines come together for the breed shaping auction to commence with the first day of weanlings on May 18.

The National Weanling Sale, comprising 450 outstanding youngsters, is the undisputed number one source of pin-hook success stories and racetrack stars in Australasia.

An impressive line up of 22 young stallions will be represented by members of their first crop at the sale which boasts graduates including champion sires Pierro and Zoustar as well as Ellsberg, Golden Slipper winner Stay Inside and this season’s crack juveniles Don Corleone, Veight, Princess Duhallow and Ripcord.

The National Broodmare Sale, from May 23 and with 644 catalogued lots, will present Australasia’s finest racefillies, maiden mares, young broodmares as well as proven producers.  Some 55% of all lots in the sale are either maiden mares or at first cover.

Day One of the National Broodmare Sale will feature an incredible line up of racefillies and maiden mares – a record 32% of all lots have already achieved black type.

The second and third days of the National Broodmare Sale features a catalogue covered by not only Australia’s best, but also those from the Northern Hemisphere including Frankel and Kingman.

“The National Sale has established itself as one of the world’s pre-eminent breeding auctions and the catalogue for 2023 delivers yet again – the offering will present incredible quality across all sales and markets,” Magic Millions Managing Director Barry Bowditch said.

“World class bloodstock at Australia’s holiday playground, there’s no better place to be across May than the Gold Coast,” Bowditch added. “The accompanying Queensland Winter Racing Carnival just adds to what is a spectacular time in the region.”

Recently the Magic Millions National Sale has been boosted with the announcement of the Edinburgh Park Unreserved Dispersal. The dispersal of 63 lots will be sold across the National Sale and will feature 23 weanlings and 40 racefillies or broodmares. The draft will include a dozen stakes performed mares – everything from young stakes winners, blue blooded mares and proven stakes producers.

“I’ve decided to hit the reset button and will step back for a bit,” Edinburgh’s Ian Smith reported. “Having an unreserved dispersal has been on my mind for a while and I decided now was the right time.”
