Shoot Out’s group winning half sister Cassandara Shadow will go under the hammer at June’s Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale on the Gold Coast.
A Group Three winner of the Western Australian Oaks, Cassandara Shadow will be one of the star offerings at the auction – a member of the Robyn Wise draft.
By Johannesburg, Cassandara Shadow is one of two runners – for two group winners – produced by the winning Pentire mare Pentamerous.
Her other, the outstanding High Chaparral gelding Shoot Out, won his second Group One race with a sensational win in today’s Group One AJC Derby at Randwick.
The John Wallace trained Shoot Out has won two Group One races at his past three runs and he will now be spelled with Caulfield and Melbourne Cup ambitions.
“Cassandara is one of the top prospects to be sold anything in the world this year,” Magic Millions Managing Director David Chester said today.
“Shoot Out, a star Magic Millions graduate, has proven himself the best staying prospect in the country with his awesome win today and the mare going under the hammer won the Oaks in Perth.”
“Rarely does an Oaks winner come up for sale – and she’s also a half brother to a present day Derby winner who looks to have an extremely bright future.”
“There’s no doubt Cassandara Shadow would be a highlight addition of any broodmare band in the world.”
“Her dam Pentamerous, who is a half sister to Group Two winner and Adelaide Cup runner-up in Native Jazz, has just had two runners – for an Oaks winner and a Derby winner – it doesn’t get much better than that.”
Another mare with stakes winning form from Perth heading to sale and the Robyn Wise draft is Locus Standi.
A winner of the Burgess Queen Stakes and earner of well over $250,000 – Locus Standi has been racing with success over recent months in Singapore with three top class wins.
Locus Standi is a four-year-old mare by star shuttle sire Street Cry – the sire of Mark Kavanagh’s star stablemates Shocking and Whobegotyou and international champion mare Zenyatta.
The upcoming Magic Millions National Sale has attracted an outstanding catalogue of 2090 lots – a great mix of quality weanlings, yearlings, racehorses, broodmares and stallions and shares.
Another mare to receive a boost today was the Darley offering More Haste – a daughter of Brief Truce who comes to the sale after a spring serve from Nadeem.
More Haste is the dam of today’s brilliant Adelaide juvenile winner Sleepers – a member of the Lee Freedman stable who raced away to win by almost three lengths.
