Wynyard Hall Tops Perth Sale

Stakes performed mare Wynyard Hall topped Sunday’s Magic Millions Perth Autumn Thoroughbred Sale at Belmont.

A daughter of leading WA based sire Blackfriars, Wynyard Hall was snapped up by Victorian based Mileshan Nominees for $130,000 after a flurry of bids.

The mare was the star of the unreserved dispersal of Durham Lodge.

A black type performer in her own right, Wynyard Hall is a full sister to Saturday’s Group Two WA Derby winner Rohan.

She has already proven herself as a top producer with her first named foal being the recent Magic Millions Perth 2YO Classic and Gimcrack Stakes winner Darlington Abbey.

Bidding for the mare started at $30,000 and rose quickly to $60,000 before a flurry of bids pushed her price over the $100,000 barrier. The hammer fell at $130,000 – $35,000 more than any other lot on the day.

Wynyard Hall’s dam Voltage Pak – the dam of Rohan carrying a full relation to that star galloper – was the third top price of the day.

She made $90,000 to the bid of local William Robinson.

Splitting those two was the stakes winning galloper Morant – purchased by Cranbourne based trainer Damien Williams for $95,000.

The gelding was one of a select group of racehorses sold by the Peters Investments group.

All up on Sunday some 150 lots were sold at an average price of $7,436. The clearance rate was a lofty 96 per cent.
