Adebisi Scores Biggest Win For Connections

Quality Brisbane galloper Adebisi provided renowned horsewoman Desleigh Forster with her biggest win when he cruised to victory in yesterday’s Group Three George Moore Stakes (1200m) at Doomben.

Already a proven stakes winner in the Gold Edition Plate as a three-year-old, Adebisi notched career win six when he led home a Magic Millions first six result in Australia’s feature race run over the weekend.

“Don’t ever underestimate this bloke,” Forster told AAP.

“I think he can eventually run 1600 metres but we won’t be looking at the Bernborough Handicap later this month.”

“I’d like to run him in the Goldmarket Handicap but there’s also the Lough Neagh Stakes in two weeks.”

“I’ve won a few listed races before but it’s a good feeling to finally win a Group Three.”

“He’s had a lot of knockers before and hasn’t deserved it,” Forster added of Adebisi.

Adebisi showed his usual good speed out of the barriers and went straight to the lead and he continued on his merry way – beating Latin News by a half length.

Spirit of Boom was third ahead of Excellantes, Startsmeup and Steel Zip – all Magic Millions graduates and all likely runners on Queensland’s richest raceday at the Gold Coast on January 14.

From 21 starts of which he’s won or placed in 10, Adebisi has earned $471,000 for his jubilant connections.

That’s an outstanding return considering he cost Forster just $15,000 from the Raheen Stud at the 2009 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

One of 13 stakes gallopers for Danehill’s stakes winning son Shovhog, Adebisi is from the form smart Queensland based mare Hell fo Leather.

A daughter of Sanction, Hell for Leather won on seven occasions and is now the dam of two city winners from as many runners.

Adebisi’s stablemate The Gingermeister is a city winning full sister.

Hell for Leather is from a lightly race Vain daughter of the WA Oaks winner and Perth Cup runner-up Gay Affair.
