Adelaide Sale Juvenile Streak Continues

Nordic Empire has continued a dream start for graduates of this year’s Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale.

A brilliant debut winner at Caulfield on Saturday for the Mick Price stable, Nordic Empire became the third Melbourne winner and fifth city winner overall for the sale which was held less than nine months ago.

They are outstanding figures considering just 15 individual graduates from the sale have faced the starter since the juvenile races began this season.

Nordic Empire, a son of former outstanding two-year-old Wilander, was bred by the Mann family’s Tosca Farm near Angaston and sold to BC3 Thoroughbreds for $75,000.

The $2 million Jeep Magic Millions 2YO Classic is the main mission for the youngster following his win over a $1.5 million son of Fastnet Rock.

Already in Melbourne this season the 2013 Adelaide Yearling Sale had produced the high class stakes winners Moonlight Hussler and Golconda.

Moonlight Hussler won the Debutants Stakes at Caulfield for David Hayes after the Lindsay Park Bloodstock team purchased the son of Hussonet for $42,500 from the Glenelg Park draft at Morphettville.

Golconda, the top priced filly of the auction at $145,000, emerged as a leading Blue Diamond contender with a brilliant win in the recent Desiree Gill Tribute Stakes at Caulfield.

That daughter of Snitzel was purchased by Robbie Laing from the draft of Baramul Stud in Adelaide.

Throw in the impressive unbeaten Adelaide winners Duckworth and Kapaulenko  and the sale’s reputation for quality and value has again come to the fore.

“The sale has without doubt the best figures of any Australian yearling sale in 2013 to date,” Magic Millions Adelaide Representative Adrian Hancock said.

“While some sales are yet to boast a city winner this season, Adelaide has five from just 15 starters and two of them were black type winners over the spring carnival.”

“It is great to see those clients who supported the sale this year being rewarded and we look forward to that support to continue and strengthen in 2014,” he added.

The 2014 Adelaide Yearling Sale will be at Morphettville from March 10 to 12.
