In a dramatic battle over the concluding stages, Amish Boy edged out the stakes performed Glenfiddich to win to the delight of connections.
After getting back in the field after a slow getaway, Amish Boy came with a strong run in the straight and lived up to his connections’ expectations with a feature victory.
“He thoroughly deserved that,” co-trainer David Eustace said. “He’d been a bit unlucky not to win a race.”
“We thought he was good enough to head to the Magic Millions 2YO Classic (on the Gold Coast) in January but he didn’t quite get there.”
“I’m delighted for the connections,” Eustace, who collected a $10,000 Adelaide Yearling Sale credit voucher, said.
Amish Boy, who’s already contested races in Melbourne and Brisbane and now Adelaide, could even head to the Harbour City for one of the country’s best races for two-year-olds.
“He’s always been a horse we considered to be of good stakes class,” Eustace added. “We could look at sending him up to Sydney for the Sires’ (Produce Stakes) – or some other feature races.”
“I knew I hit the front,” winning rider Jye McNeil said. “Glenfiddich fought back strongly on the inside but I was confident I got the bob at the right time.”
“There’s plenty of upside from my fella.”
Amish Boy is by former outstanding Magic Millions sold sire Star Witness and was a $300,000 Gold Coast Yearling Sale buy for Ciaron Maher Bloodstock from Widden Stud.
He is one of six winners for the Sydney two-year-old winning Not a Single Doubt mare Sheeznodoubt.
