Another Group Win For Hold It Harvey

Grand New Zealand based galloper Hold it Harvey continued his great run in feature races when he thrashed his rivals in the Group Three Thompson Handicap (1600m) at Trentham today.

With regular rider Jamie Bullard in the saddle, Hold it Harvey romped home to beat Roxon by two and a half lengths, while third placegetter The Meista was another half neck further back.

A six-year-old son of South Australian based sire King Cugat, Hold it Harvey is trained by well regarded kiwi horseman Terri Rae.

The win was the eighth at stakes level for Hold it Harvey.

He has won two runnings of both the Group Three White Robe Lodge Stakes at Otago and the listed Timaru Stakes. Other feature victories include the Group Three Easter Cup, listed Ray Coupland Stakes and listed Canterbury Stakes.

All up the grand performer has notched 12 wins and 18 placings from 51 starts and earnings of over NZ$510,000.

The gelding has been a remarkable money spinner for connections after his purchase for $16,000 at the 2006 Magic Millions National Yearling Sale.

He was picked out and purchased at the sale by trainer Terri Rae from the draft of Baramul Stud.

The gelding is one of two winners, from two to race, for the twice raced Best Western mare Daly Charm.

A grandaughter of Prix Morny winner Princesse Lida, Daly Charm is a half sister to the stakes placed, nine time winner Chanted.

A half brother to Hold it Harvey, by renowned juvenile sire More Than Ready, was purchased by leading trainer Gerald Ryan for $235,000 at the recent Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

It’s been a successful week for Hold it Harvey’s sire King Cugat.

At Morphettville last Monday on Cup Day his debuting daughter Secret Status scored the most impressive of wins for the Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas stable.

Another Magic Millions Yearling Sales graduate, this time in Adelaide, Secret Status is from a Masterclass mare – the exact cross that produced the Group One winner Devil Moon – another Adelaide Sale success story.
