Big Increases At Opening Weanling Session


Onemorenomore-Ocean Bridge coltA colt by first season sire Onemorenomore topped a spirited first session of the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale at the Gold Coast today.

A first class buying bench of domestic and international buyers were on hand to compete for a first class line up of youngsters and when the session closed it was the Onemorenomore colt who headed the top sellers leaderboard.

Offered by Patinack Farm, as part of a quality reduction sale, the colt is the fifth foal of the former classy Melbourne based sprinter Ocean Bridge.

The colt is therefore a half brother to the Sydney based stakes winner Run for Wilson.

Magic Millions acting as agent for a New South Wales based client signed for the colt for $200,000.

He was one of eight individuals to selling for a six figure price on the opening day of the country’s premier weanling auction.

Street Cry-La Guichet coltThe second top price of the day was the $165,000 given by Magic Millions, for a Queensland based client, for the Rothwell Park Street Cry colt from La Guichet.

The youngster is a half brother to the former outstanding Brisbane based juvenile Ringa Ringa Rosie.

Throughout the day over $4.7 million was given for 146 lots sold at a healthy average price of $32,651 and improving clearance rate of over 76 per cent.

As compared to last year’s opening session the average price and gross price were both up 46 per cent. The clearance rate of 76 per cent was also up from last year’s 69 per cent.

“The figures speak for themselves,” Magic Millions Managing Director Vin Cox reported.

“The average, gross and clearance rates are all up significantly on last year.”

“It was a solid day’s selling and it was positive to see horses sold across the country as well as overseas.”

Onemorenomore-Oomph colt“We have some outstanding weanlings in tomorrow’s session and we’re looking forward to presenting them at the complex,” Cox added.
