Bunbury based businessman Daniel Love made his presence felt during a spirited day’s selling at the Magic Millions Perth Winter Thoroughbred Sale at Belmont Park.
Buying under Mega Holdings Pty Ltd, Love signed for 25 lots including the two top sellers of the sale.
As expected the unreserved dispersal draft from Durham Lodge attracted strong interest – 17 of the top 20 sellers were members of the quality weanling draft.
Topping proceedings was the Blackfriars-Idyllic Doll colt – purchased by Love’s Mega Holdings for $85,000.
A three quarter brother to Group One winner Playing God and Group Two winner God Has Spoken, the colt is the first living foal of a twice raced Scenic mare.
Love also secured the second top seller of the day, another Blackfrairs weanling colt from the draft of Durham Lodge.
Knocked down for $48,000 that colt is from an unraced Scenic sister to Oroya Gold and three quarter sister to Group One winner Shame.
During the day over $980,000 was traded on 171 lots sold at an average price of $5,733 at a healthy clearance rate of over 87 per cent.
Compared to last year’s Winter Thoroughbred Sale, the average rose 129 per cent, the gross soared 134 per cent and the clearance rate jumped from 77 to 87 per cent.
