Buffering To Chase Interstate Riches

Quality Brisbane three-year-old Buffering booked a trip to Sydney or Melbourne for a feature race campaign with a brilliant all the way win in the $50,000 QTIS 3YO Handicap (1000m) at Eagle Farm today.

Prepared by premiership winning horseman Robert Heathcote, Buffering made it five wins from six starts when he cruised home even with the 59.5 kilogram impost.

Glen Colless sent the Mossman gelding to the front early and he held that position throughout before striding clear of his rivals when asked for an effort near the post.

It was a big effort for Buffering considering the track was rated heavy after more than 70mm of rain drenched Brisbane in the preceding 24 hours.

Heathcote was planning on running Buffering in last Saturday’s San Domenico Stakes at Randwick – but decided to stay home to avoid the wet track on that day.

And like has been with the case with a number of other likely carnival stars, Buffering’s future, whether is be in Sydney or Melbourne, will be decided by the weather.

Connections are looking at the Up and Coming Stakes (1200m) at Warwick Farm on Saturday week – but will keep an eye to the sky.

Today Buffering was racing for the first time since his only defeat, when an excellent third to Pressday and Spirit of Boom in the Group Two Champagne Classic.

The gelding has turned out to be an incredible money spinner for his connections having being purchased by leading bloodstock agent Paul Willetts for $22,000 at last year’s inaugural Magic Millions QTIS 600 Yearling Sale.

He’s already earned a staggering $366,500 from just six runs and that figure looks set to grow over the coming starts.

By Mossman, the sire of Saturday’s runaway Sydney stakes winner Love Conquers All, Buffering is one of three winners produced by Action Annie.

A Sydney winning daughter of Anabaa, Action Annie is a half sister to a swag of winners including the stakes placegetters Instant Strike and Don’t Go Crazy.

Further back it is the same family as international stakes winning stars Martha Stevens,Wait Till Monday, Relaxed Gesture and Evolving Tactics.

Buffering is another classy graduate of renowned Queensland thoroughbred nursery Racetree.

Just over a week ago another Racetree bred and sold youngster, Happy Archer raced to a comprehensive Group One win in South Africa.
