Dazzling Trial Efforts From Red’s First Runners

The progeny of Eureka Stud’s freshman sire Red Dazzler have made a bright start to the new season with a barnstorming week at trials around Queensland.

Four Red Dazzler two-year-olds have trialled in the past few days – for three wins and a second.

All four triallers to date are graduates of the McAlpine’s Eureka Stud and were sold as yearlings by Australia’s top thoroughbred sales company Magic Millions.

Scarlet Witch, a filly from Big Pretzel, led the way with an impressive heat win at Toowoomba for leading local trainer Michael Nolan.

With Norifumi Yamada in the saddle, Scarlet Witch cruised home to beat the Hidden Dragon youngster Sistabella by two lengths.

Scarlet Witch was purchased for $11,000 from March’s Magic Millions QTIS 600 Yearling Sale at the Gold Coast.

At Rockhampton a pair of Red Dazzler youngsters impressed when they stepped out in public on the first occasion this week.

Takotna, a colt from Bubbles of Joy, cruised home in his 450 metre heat for a two and a half length win.

The Julie Green prepared youngster, who cost Mundi Gully’s owner Ron White $11,000 at thr QTIS 600 Yearling Sale, was ridden in the trial by Shane McGovern.

Another youngster by Red Dazzler sold at the same sale, a colt from Silver Lion, now known as Weona Dazzler was also a trial winner at Rockhampton.

The $14,000 QTIS 600 Yearling is trained by by Tom Bourke and he cruised home under Donna Philpoy yo win his 450 metre heat by a length and three quarters.

Daytime Dazzler, a $160,000 Gold Coast Yearling Sale graduate, went close to making it a perfect four for four result when he finished second in a Doomben trial.

The Col Williamson prepared gelding is raced by Graham and Linda Huddy – best known through their exploits of their multiple Group One winning star Shoot Out.

A winner of the Group One Toorak Handicap during an illustrious racing career, Red Dazzler was prepared by master Caulfield horseman Mick Price.

A winner at his only start at two, the son of Red Ransom competed in 17 stakes race – he won or placed in 15 of them.

Three two-year-olds by Red Dazzler have recently breezed up in great style in the lead up to next month’s Magic Millions National Horses in Training Sale.

One of his colts to go under the hammer ran a slick 10.45 seconds in his 200 metre timed sectional at the Gold Coast recently.

And the cream of his second crop will be going under the hammer at a string of Magic Millions Yearling Sales kicking away at the Gold Coast in January.
