Domesday Colt Tops Vibrant Adelaide Session

A colt by Domesday topped the final session of the Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale at Morphettville today.

Presented by the O’Brien family’s Lauriston Thoroughbred Farm, the colt was purchased by Victorian based operation Blue Moon Racing for $51,000.

That colt edged out a locally bred and presented youngster by Wilander who sold to Morphettville trainer Gordon Richards for $50,000.

The Wilander colt, presented by Rebecca Hodson’s RJH Racing team, is a half brother to in form three-year-old Spoilspot.

The session was a buoyant one with 82 per cent of today’s offerings sold – well up from last year’s corresponding session with 74 per cent.

Over $1.42 million was traded on 132 yearlings at an average price of $10,773. Both the sale gross and average price were up on last year’s Session Two Sale.

Astute buyers from South Australia, interstate and overseas relished the value on offer and rounded out a successful three day Adelaide auction.

“Today’s session was very vibrant,” Magic Millions’ Adelaide Representative Adrian Hancock reported. “There was a happy atmosphere around the complex and some competitive bidding.”

“It was most pleasing to see the average and gross increase from last year and the boost in the clearance rate to 82 per cent was great.”

“Some of the yearlings today sold for exceptional prices,” Hancock added.

The sale over the past few days has been a successful one for South Australia buyers, but overseas visitors have again been active with buyers today from China, Singapore, Malaysia and New Zealand.
