Easy Successful Impressive In Classic

Quality youngster Easy Successful gave trainer Bryan Guy more reason to celebrate when he scored a dashing win in the Bruce McLachlan Classic (1200m) at the Sunshine Coast today.

Guy, still on a high after the birth of his first grandchild 10 days ago, was all smiles in the winner’s stall following the win of the talented Easy Successful.

“He went very well this horse,” Guy said. “He showed a bit of form before.”

“We had to race at the (Gold) Coast to come to town. In his first start in a race he was three deep and he ran a nice race.”

“Then the other day he was probably a little bit stiff, he got stuck in behind them and Chris said he probably should have won the race,” Guy added.

“We came here today a little bit confident. But then I seen the (original) 17 barrier and that hurt for a while.”

“He’s done a very good job today. He had to run along after getting across from the 13 barrier and he held them all off – so he’s done a great job.”

A $32,000 Gold Coast purchase, Easy Successful ($5.50) cruised home to beat Internal Revenue ($3.40-$3.50 fav) by three parts of a length, while Denwood ($15) rounded out a Magic Millions trifecta by running third, a further neck back.

Easy Successful was purchased by Guy at the last year’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale on behalf of long time client, Hong Kong businessman Stanley Chan.

The young colt is a son of popular Wattle Brae Stud based sire Easy Rocking – a sire who’s progeny are renowned for handling tracks with give.

He is the first named foal for the six time winning and stakes performed Danzero mare Brilliant Jewel.

A four time Melbourne winner, Brilliant Jewel earned black type when she ran third, beaten just half a length, in the listed Wylie Handicap at Morphettville in 2004.

As well as being a black type galloper, Brilliant Jewel is a blood sister to the two time Sydney stakes winner Vionneto.

It is the same family as fellow Australian based stakes winners Fashion News, Cheverny, Academe, La Chasseuse and Vionnet.
