El Milagro Dazzles In Singapore Debut

Red Dazzler youngster El Milagro made a bright start to his racetrack career when he scored an eye catching win at Kranji tonight.

Sent out the favourite in the 1000 metre dash, El Milagro was flicked up early by rider Barend Vorster to hold a forward position and despite being pressured throughout he was able to win stylishly.

The flashy youngster was able to draw clear of eventual runner-up Magical Sunset and win by a length and a half for the Don Baertschiger stable.

“I wasn’t sure whether he would find a lot under pressure,” Baertschiger said.

“He had a high head carriage and did quite a few things wrong in his trials, but he was a lot better out there tonight.”

“It was a good ride from Barend to stand over him and make him stretch out. He really didn’t flatten out until Barend got to the bottom of him,” he added.

“He’s going to get a lot of improvement from that. He hadn’t been pushed in his trials and the way he finished it off I think he’s going to even appreciate 1200.”

“He was quite green out there and will only get better,” he summed up.

Raced by the Bingo Stable, El Milagro was purchased by Baertschiger for $100,000 at last October’s Magic Millions National Horses in Training Sale.

He caught the eye of his trainer when he ran his 200 metre breeze up in a slick 10.45 seconds at the Gold Coast track a month before the popular breeze-up style sale.

In an all Magic Millions finish, El Milagro pulled clear over the concluding stages to beat another debuting juvenile Magical Sunset.

The runner-up by Hussonet and from former group winner Magically was purchased for $47,000 from Baramul Stud at last year’s National Yearling Sale at the Gold Coast. He is trained by Brian Dean.

El Milagro is the sixth first crop winner for Red Ransom’s Group One winning sire son Red Dazzler.

The young Eureka Stud based sire has made a bright start to his siring career after a first class record on the track for trainer Mick Price.

El Milagro’s dam, the twice New Zealand winning Stravinsky mare Vinzky, is a full sister to five time winner and triple stakes placed Muzdaher.

Vinzky is from a winning Snaadee daughter of VRC Oaks and Thousand Guineas winner Tristanagh.
