Flying Pegasus Colt Tops Final Perth Session

A colt by exciting freshman sire Flying Pegasus topped the fourth and final session of the 2011 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale at Belmont today.

Consigned by Touchstone Farm, the colt was purchased by leading bloodstock agent John Chalmers for $30,000.

Chestnut in colour, the colt is the first foal of the lightly raced Canny Lad mare Akkachar – she a daughter of the stakes performed Metal Storm mare Metal Maiden.

Flying Pegasus yearlings proved popular today with three of the top five sellers being by him.

Yesterday his daughter Western Fever made it back to back wins when she scooted home along the inside rail to win the $250,000 Magic Millions Perth 2YO Classic.

Two other colts sold for $25,000 – one a Benicio youngster from Touchstone Farm to Neville Smith for $25,000.

Smith trains the exciting, unbeaten Benicio youngster Benny’s Halo – who is the result of a Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale purchase.

All up today over $900,000 was traded on 131 yearlings at an average price of almost $7,000. The clearance rate was over 64 per cent.

“It was a real buyers market at Belmont today,” Magic Millions Acting Managing Director David Chester reported.

“Those there would have got great value and I’m sure a number of smart gallopers will graduate from today’s sale.”

“Obviously again the clearance rate was lower than we would have liked – but this has been the case at similar sessions across Australasia over the past 12 months.”

“Overall we’ve finished up with pleasing results for the entire four day sale and we’re now very much looking forward to our upcoming yearlings sales in Tasmania and Adelaide,” Chester summed up.
