Group One Producer Stars At Patinack Broodmare Sale

Group One producing mare Midnight Ballet was the star of the show at the Magic Millions Patinack Farm Unreserved Broodmare Sale on the Gold Coast today.

Spirited bidding from a healthy buying bench saw the unreserved auction return pleasing results.

Offered as lot 610, Midnight Ballet attracted an opening bid of $100,000 before selling for $240,000. She was sold with a Onemorenomore colt at foot and is in foal to leading young sire Husson.

Leading bloodstock agent Colm Santry, who placed the winning bid on behalf of Tom Magnier, said the mare was the real stand out of today’s sale.

“It’s a rare opportunity to have such a quality mare offered,” Santry said. “She is a proven Group One producer, a quality individual and we’re delighted to buy her.”

“She will visit Fastnet Rock next spring and produce a full relation to Rock Classic,” Santry added.

All up today the 191 mares offered were sold for a sale gross of $2,779,750. The average price was a healthy $14,554.

“The sale has exceeded everyone’s expectations,” Magic Millions Managing Director Vin Cox said. “We are delighted with the participation from buyers right around Australia and overseas.”

“The results tell us that the industry is in a buoyant state despite these difficult times.”

“The success of this sale can largely be attributed to the organisation and manner in which the Patinack Farm staff conducted themselves.”

“Full credit to Ben Lawrence and his team,” Cox added.

Lawrence said the team from Patinack Farm were pleased with the way the day unfolded.

“We were very happy with the turn out,” Lawrence said.

“A lot of people questioned the timing of the sale and today has proven a lot of people wrong as the sale was well supported and there was very strong bidding.”

“The sale was a genuine reduction sale – the first time the farm had reduced its stock outside of a usual sales draft.”

“We had great support from many loyal Patinack Farm clients and it was encouraging to see so many different buyers from around Australia and abroad.”

“We really thank Magic Millions for their wonderful efforts – thanks to Vin Cox and David Chester and their team for what turned out a great success,” Lawrence said.

The selling action at the Gold Coast continues tomorrow with the first of two sessions compising the National Horses in Training Sale.
