Henny Hughes Colt Tops Buoyant Fifth Session

A colt from the first Australian crop of former star international galloper Henny Hughes topped today’s fifth session of the 2011 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Offered for sale by Vinery Stud, as agent, the colt was snapped up by the team of BC3 Thoroughbreds for $210,000.

Not long after that colt made $210,000, a Not a Single Doubt half brother to this season’s stakes performed juvenile Eternal Revenue was sold for $200,000.

This time it was Perth based businessman Peter Caporn who held the bid on the youngster offered by Darlington Stud.

All up today some 157 lots were sold at a gross of $7,358,000 and average price of $46,866.

The gross and average price were both up on last year’s corresponding session – 10% and 11% respectively.

“The competition on quality lots was extremely strong,” Magic Millions Managing Director Stephen Silk reported.

“There was a good line up buyers who stuck around after last night’s fourth session and they were presented with a quality line up of youngsters.”

“To increase our average price and sale gross was encouraging.” he added.

“It was great to see so many people from around Australia and overseas at the complex today and bidding strongly.”

The sales ring will next be in action on Tuesday when from 1pm (Qld time) a much anticipated racehorse sale is held.

That sale received a boost today when the Williams family announced their quality draft would be sold without a reserve.

The sixth session of the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale will then be held on Wednesday.
