Hit Streak Continues As Breeze Ups Commence

With the breeze ups underway in the lead up to the 2010 Magic Millions National Horses in Training Sale past sale graduates have continued their winning run around the globe.

While classy graduate Shocking ran another bottler in his preparation toward the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups, plenty of others were winning their respective races over the weekend.

In Singapore yesterday the quality galloper Alacarte bounced back to the winner’s stall in style when he flew home to win at Kranji.

The Steven Burridge trained performer, a $130,000 purchase from the 2008 sale, has won four of his 14 runs and his earnings have soared past his purchase price.

“Alacarte was a bit unlucky at his last run and fully deserves the win,” Burridge said. “He’s always run respectably against horses like Better Than Ever and he’s done a good job today.”

As well as being a five time winner, Alacarte also earned black type when he ran second to Better Than Ever in the Group Two Singapore 3YO Classic.

A start before that he was fourth in the Group One Singapore Guineas behind Better Than Ever and last start group winner Always Certain.

At Doomben on Saturday the Horses in Training Sale graduates Startsmeup and Pyramids both scored impressive victories.

Pyramids, a son of Anabaa trained by Gerald Ryan, got home in a thrilling finish to beat Kneel and Raise and Agnes Dream.

Just over half an hour later the Magic Millions carnival bound Startsmeup continued the red hot run for Bruce Hill and Paul Hammersley with a three length romp.

Dancing Fox showed the value of buying from the sale when he scored an impressive debut win at Devonport yesterday.

He was purchased for a mere $1,500 from last year’s sale – and already he’s earned almost $8,000 from just the one start.

The first of two sessions of breeze ups is being held today at the Gold Coast Turf Club – the second commences at 10am tomorrow.

Seymour will host a session comprising 88 youngsters on Thursday at 10am – before the attention switches to Rockhampton at th same time on Friday.

Other recent graduates of the National Horses in Training Sale include Graceful Anna, Whipsaw, Viva Pronto, Fifteen Carat, Masquerador and Singapore’s best juvenile Gingerbread Man.
