Hoss Amor All Class In Lancaster

Quality filly Hoss Amor added a second stakes success to her impressive record with a comprehensive win in today’s listed Lancaster Stakes (1200m) at Eagle Farm.

Prepared from Randwick by John O’Shea, Hoss Amor tracked the leaders throughout before bursting to the front in the straight and winning easily.

At the post Hoss Amor ($4.20-$4.60) held a two and a quarter length margin over the Gillian Heinrich trained Sunset Affair ($31), while kiwi visitor Saturn Rock ($10-$11-$10) was another long neck back in third place.

One of 40 stakes winners for Magic Millions champion General Nediym, Hoss Amor is one of two winners, from three named foals, for Melbourne two-year-old winner With Love.

It capped a big week for connections after their filly was awarded the listed Hampden Stakes after the original winner Noogoora Burr was disqualified.

“It was a really good win and a lovely J Cassidy ride,” O’Shea said.

“She looked a really good chance being third up and last run we took the blinkers off and it didn’t quite work as planned.”

“The blinkers going back on today was the key – especially dropping back to 1200 metres – that was the key,” he added.

“All credit to the winner the other day (Boban) – he beat her easily, but this filly should have finished closer and now she’s now got two listed and three wins from five starts.”

Hoss Amor carries the colours of Champion Thoroughbreds after that outfit purchased her for $100,000 from last year’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

The Three Bridges Throughbreds graduate from Victoria was syndicated and her part owners include well known Sky Channel “news hound” Andrew “Hoss” Bensley.

Hoss Amor shot to prominence at her very first run when she powered home to win the rich Magic Million Wyong 2YO Classic. Her only unplaced effort was a seventh in Queensland’s richest race, the $2 Million Magic Millions 2YO Classic in January.

A daughter of Favorite Trick, With Love is a daughter of former top quality juvenile and well related Bluebird mare Loving Cup.

With Love is therefore a half sister to the four time winner Cuphill – the dam of New Zealand based stakes winner Celeris.

Hoss Amor and today’s TJ Smith favourite Sizzing share the same third dam – with city winning Without Fear mare Estate Label.
