I’m The One A Magic Youngster

Plans to send I’m the One to the paddock look shelved after the promising youngster scored an impressive win in the listed $100,000 Phelan Ready Stakes (1000m).

Chinchilla horseman Mark Goodwin said the $2 million BMW Magic Millions 2YO Classic on January 15 was a temptation hard to ignore.

Goodwin took a shine to I’m the One at June’s Magic Millions National Yearling Sale and he paid $6,500 for him from the draft of Oaklands Stud.

“At $6,500 he certainly is a bargian,” Goodwin told AAP.

“We were thinking of putting him out in the paddock to let him develop more but maybe we’ll go again to the Magic Millions now.”

In the run to the line I’m the One came through under Scott Galloway to beat Internal Revenue and the preciously unbeaten Double Impact. All three placegetters were purchased from Magic Millions Yearling Sales.

Gillian Heinrich, who prepared the runner-up Internal Revenue, wasn’t too disappointed running second – as the winner is a milestone winner for a stallion she trained and is still heavily linked.

“I don’t mind getting beaten this time. The winner is by All Bar One and it was his first city winner and it came in a listed race,” she said.

All Bar One, a son of Hennessy and Magic Millions graduate, made history – the first freshman sire in Australia to this season register a stakes winner.

During his racetrack career, All Bar One won nine races and earned over $548,000. He won in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne during his illustrious career.

I’m the One is one of eight winners produced by the three time winning and Sydney placed Rory’s Jester mare Halcyon Daze.

The latest yearling from Halcyon Daze, a bay filly by Redoute’s Choice’s son Break the Vault, is being prepared for the 2011 Magic Millions Central Queensland Yearling Sale at Rockhampton on April 8.
