Justice For Me Impresses In Sydney

The winning run for Darley sire Commands continued at Canterbury today when promising three-year-old Justice For Me won impressively.

The Kevin Moses trained gelding still has plenty to learn, but looked a top prospect when he held out his rivals for a good win at his second start.

Winning rider Tim Clark was impressed with the decisive success for Justice For Me.

“He was at his home track for his first start and only had to walk across the road so today was pretty much like his first start,” Clark commented.

“He did a few things wrong and still has plenty to learn – so I think he’s got a nice future.”

“He’s definitely heading in the right direction,” Clark summed up.

Despite his greenness Justice For Me ($2.50-$3.30-$2.70) still proved a neck too strong for Slick Shoes ($4-$5-$4.20), while Seek De Fortune ($13-$19-$18) was another length and a half back in third place.

A graduate of the Kelly family’s Newhaven Park Stud, Justice For Me was purchased by Kevin Moses for $65,000 at the 2009 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Justice for Me is the first winner to date for the lightly raced and two-year-old placed Snippets mare Lilliana.

Lilliana, from the twice US winning Alleged mare Space Fantasy, is a half sister to the Canadian group performer Ice Agent as well as the dam of the South African black type calloper Giant’s Jewel.

Justice for Me’s third dam, the Berkley Prince mare Weber City Miss, won 17 races – including nine at black type level headed by the Group One Beldame Stakes at Belmont.

She in turn is the dam of three stakes winners including the multiple Group One winning sire Slew City Slew and the top producing stakes winning mare City Dance.

Over the weekend Justice For Me’s sire Commands became the first stallion in Australia to be represented by 100 winners.

A former outstanding racehorse by Danehill, Commands is now one of the country’s most popular colonial sires and his progeny are sure to prove popular at Magic Millions sales over the coming months.
