Magic Millions Classic winning jockey Stathi Katisidis has steamed to the front in two of three Magic Millions Jockey Premierships.
With 70 wins Australia wide and 40 on non-metro tracks, Katsidis has his nose in front of his rivals to win two of the inaugural titles.
In the Leading Jockey with all wins Australia wide, Katsidis is five wins clear of fellow Brisbane senior rider Jim Byrne,
Sitting in third position is in form Perth jockey Shaun O’Donnell.
In the non-metro wins category Katsidis has snuck two wins ahead of Gold Coast jockey Daniel Griffin.
Tasmania’s star rider Brendon McCoull is within striking distance on 34 wins – one in front of Western Australia’s Shaun Meeres.
Meanwhile, Perth apprentice Kyra Yuill has staked her claims for a late charge in the Leading Female Jockey award with 20 wins.
Just over a week ago it appeared this premiership was down to Adelaide riders Libby Hopwood and Clare Lindop.
Hopwood is currently one win ahead of Lindop and five ahead of Yuill. Linda Meech is next on the list with 18 wins.
The inaugural Magic Millions Jockey Premierships were announced to recognise the achievement of jockeys who succeed aboard graduates of Australia’s most winning thoroughbred auctioneers, Magic Millions.
The premierships run for the racing season and will conclude at the end of July.
