More Stakes Race Options For Jet Style

Jet Style could chase a third straight stakes success after a fighting win in Saturday’s listed Recognition Stakes (1600m) at Eagle Farm.

Sent out the second favourite, Jet Style led throughout and showed great character in the straight to hold out fancied rival Biggles by a half head.

Toowoomba based trainer Donald Baker said he would monitor Jet Style and speak to connections before deciding on his immediately mission.

“I didn’t want him leading but Chris (Munce) was left with no option when Biggles didn’t go to the front,” Baker told reporters.

“It wasn’t our plan but nothing wanted to take him on. I’ve got no doubt he’s a better horse ridden off the pace.”

There is a chance Jet Style could have his next run in Sydney. There is also a chance he could be sent for a deserved spell.

“We’ll have a sit down and think what to do with him now,” Baker added.

“He could go for a break if he shoes us signs he’s getting tired or I could set him for the Bernborough Handicap at the end of the month, but he’d need to have another run before then.”

“I mentioned the Villiers to his owners and it’s not out of the question,” Baker added.

The quality gelding has turned out an incredible money spinner for connections after his purchase at the 2008 Magic Millions National Horses in Training Sale at the Gold Coast.

Offered at the auction by Clear Mountain Fairview, Jet Style was purchased for just $17,000. In career best form, Jet Style has already earned $234,950.

Jet Style is the sole stakes winner to date for the Melbourne stakes winning Last Tycoon sire Tycoon Ruler.

He is one of two multiple winners, from two to race, for the once raced Baryshnikov mare Over and Over.

Over and Over, from a lightly raced Lucky Ring mare, is a half sister to the multiple Sydney stakes winner Varino.

It is also the family of stakes winners including Elegance, Hollywood Fred, Gay Style, Smart Style, Dressage, Diver, Spit Curl and Secretaridge.
