My Destiny Hot For Mm Cup

My Destiny will head to the $400,000 R.M.Williams Magic Millions Cup in scintillating form after extending his winning streak in today’s listed Athol Mulley Memorial Lough Neagh Stakes (1350m) at Doomben.

A son of leading sire Stratum, My Destiny took the step to stakes grade successfully – leading home five other Magic Millions graduates to win the feature race run in Australia for the day.

A $50,000 purchase from the Southern Cross Breeders draft at the 2009 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale for former trainer Tony Karakatsanis, My Destiny is prepared by his son, Group One horseman Con.

Karakatsanis tasted great success in Queensland with his former stable star Black Piranha winning a pair of Stradbroke Handicaps and he’s hoping that winning run can continue into the new year.

My Destiny is building up an imposing record for his joyous connections. From just 10 starts he’s won five and been placed on three other occasions. His earnings have raced past $275,000.

“That’s some compensation for (missing a start in) the Villiers,” Karakatsanis told AAP after the exciting win over Ready to Rip and Adebisi – the margins were a neck by a neck.

“He’s still very green and has a lot to learn but he’ll go to the Magic Millions Cup now.”

“He’d only had nine starts before now and has taken a while to put it all together.”

Winning rider Jay Ford said My Destiny got through today’s slow track but said he was “better suited on top of the ground.”

“Coming to the turn I thought he was in trouble,” he noted.

Ready to Rip, a winner on last year’s Magic Millions card, will be out to exact revenge on My Destiny with him almost certainly set to contest the same feature at the Gold Coast on January 14.

The Andrew Williamson prepared galloper had little luck in the straight and was doing his best work late in the race after My Destiny sprinted clear at the furlong pole.

My Destiny is the first stakes winner produced by the lightly raced, but well related Grand Lodge mare Grand Story.

Dam of Victorian winner Supriym Story, Grand Story is a half sister to three stakes performed including Doomben Cup winner Mr Bureaucrat and ill fated group winner All Black Gold.

My Destiny is the ninth individual stakes winner for Magic Millions graduate and Golden Slipper winner Stratum.

The champion freshman sire of Australia of his year, Stratum has already produced the Group One winners Crystal Lily and Streama.

The Widden Stud resident is represented by 32 lots at the upcoming Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale including top prospects from young stakes winning mares including Siennas Fury, Skewiff and Tango Amigo’s.
