National Sale a Remarkable Success

National Sale a Remarkable Success

A strapping two-year-old son of Written Tycoon has sold for $150,000 in topping the Magic Millions National Racehorse Sale on the Gold Coast on Thursday.
The colt, offered as Lot 2070, was offered broken-in, but untried, and attracted plenty of interest before falling to the bid of Victorian based syndication leader Brad Spicer.

The handsome chestnut is the first foal of the winning and Adelaide placed Flying Spur mare Inamorata and hails from the family of five time Group One winner Racing to Win.

Leading Brisbane based trainer Steve O’Dea was one of the day’s most active buyers and his stable snapped up the next four top priced lots – led by Sabkhat who sold for $80,000.

All of O’Dea’s purchases were sourced from the quality Godolphin draft – the other three being Lieder ($75,000), Gouldian ($70,000) and Bracteate ($70,000).

The National Racehorse Sale, which grossed over $1.16 million, rounded out a remarkable two weeks of selling on the Gold Coast with the complete National Sale Series grossing over $107 million and 84.2% clearance.

“Today’s sale closes out what has been a wonderful National Sale Series,” Magic Millions Managing Director Vin Cox said.

“This sale has become the second highest grossing sale in the Southern Hemisphere behind our own Gold Coast Yearling Sale in January.”

“There have been a lot of people who have contributed to the success of this sale.”

“It’s a massive job to sell 1350 lots and for everyone that has contributed to the outstanding success of this event we thank you.”

“From vendors to buyers, strappers, float companies, night staff, the wait staff, drivers and our own Magic Millions staff it’s been an amazing team effort.”

“We have seen a lot of faces come and go over the past 12 days, one thing we can safely say is that everyone has enjoyed their time on the Gold Coast.”

Today’s sale brought down the curtain on the sale day career of long time company Bloodstock Manager Paul Knight.

“It is sad to farewell Paul Knight after his 29 years at Magic Millions and we wish him every success in his new role at Aquis Farm,” Cox added.
