Perth Sale Boosted With Westspeed Extra

The 2011 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale has received a timely boost with the introduction of ‘Westspeed Extra’, announced today by Racing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA).

For yearlings foaled in the 2009 breeding season, owners will be given the option of paying an additional nomination fee of $1,100 (inc GST) to increase the Westspeed owners bonus payable on all prime metropolitan wins from $15,000 to $22,500.

This represents a 50 per cent increase in the prime bonus currently payable under the scheme.

RWWA Chief Executive Richard Burt said Westspeed Extra would be available to owners purchasing yearlings through the Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sales that commence at Belmont Park tomorrow evening.

“Westspeed Extra will provide the owner of a Westspeed eligible horse the opportunity to race for prizemoney, including Westspeed bonus, of $51,750 in each open 2yo and 3yo event throughout that horse’s career.”

Westspeed Administrator John Doherty will be available at the Belmont Park Sales Complex this week to answer queries in respect to Westspeed Extra or any other aspects of the scheme.

Magic Millions Acting Managing Director David Chester said news of the significant boost to the WA scheme was great news on the eve of the state’s major sale.

“Today’s news is very much welcomed by owners and breeders in Western Australia,” Chester said.

“For an extra $1,100 owners will get the opportunity to race for significant bonus payments that will see metropolitan two and three-year-olds races boast healthy increases.”

“This announcement should give local buyers added incentive to invest in yearlings at this week’s sales.”

“We have an outstanding line up of yearlings – both WA bred and interstaters – for this year’s popular Perth Yearling Sale.”

“I’ve inspected a number of yearlings who wouldn’t be out of place at any sale in the Southern Hemisphere,” Chester summed up.

The first session of the sale commences at 5pm (WA time) tomorrow and continues through Thursday and Friday before the final session on Sunday.
