Perth Sale Pointers At Belmont

Next year’s Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale might still be five months ago but the build up is continuing at full steam.

Yearling inspections are underway after an outstanding level of entries were received for the 2011 Belmont Park based auction and already plenty of the sale bound yearlings have received good updates.

Those updates continued today with a string of impressive performances at the mid week Belmont meeting.

It’s a Sham made it back to back wins when he scrambled him to beat Hello Hero by the barest possible margin

“He’s done a great job,” trainer Grant Williams said. “He’s starting to transform a bit.”

“His work had been good and we were a bit confident today – but it was probably the best field he’s been in.”

“The start didn’t help us – it kept us on our toes.”

A half brother to It’s a Sham, by Danehill’s Eclipse Stakes winning son Oratorio, is being prepared by Toreby Park for the 2010 Perth Sale.

A breath away behind It’s a Sham today was Hello Hero, a four-year-old son of Stormy’s Son, who was chasing three straight wins.

A half brother to Hello Hero by exciting young Mungrup Stud stallion Danehill Express will also go under the hammer in February.

The November 5 foaling, bay in colour, is also a half brother to the mulitple city winners Striken and Vain Strike.

Meanwhile, Emteevee scored a deserved win for his connections in the 0-72 race over 1000 metres.

The five-year-old son of Bletchley Park is a graduate of Korilya Stud and he made up for a disappointing last start effort at what was his second run for the Lindsey Smith stable.

“You can blame the trainer for that. I didn’t know him that well and after his first run I kept pushing the button with him and working him hard and obviously he left it at home.”

But today things were different for the $62,500 Perth sale purchase.

“A good barrier, a good jockey and a little bit of luck,” Smith added.

Ellie Giles’ Korilya Stud is preparing a half brother to Emteevee for February’s Belmont sale.

The colt, a late November foaling, is by Danehill’s group winning son Balestrini and is the latest yearling from Another Lyric, a Chanteclair half sister to Rockeby Road.

Also heading for the Perth Sale next year is a half brother to the recent Melbourne stakes winning filly Sistine Angel.

The 2011 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale will be held at the Belmont Park Sales Complex from February 9 to 13.
