Rare DiamondRare Diamond sent her value soaring with a brilliant all the way win in the listed Juanmo Handicap (1200m) at Eagle Farm this afternoon.

A four-year-old mare by Redoute’s Choice, Rare Diamond notched her first black type success in winning her fourth straight race.

The Gordon Yorke prepared mare was ridden to victory by boom New South Wales apprentice Timothy Bell. That pair have combined in three races and won the lot.

Today’s race was the first for Rare Diamond since a ten week let up. Prior to that break she won twice in Brisbane after winning a feature fillies and mares event at Ballina in January.

Rare Diamond returnsThe mare, a Motto Stud Farm graduate, was purchased from the 2006 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale for $160,000.

She was purchased at that sale, the country’s premier weanling auction, by her current owners Colin and Shona Clark.

With eight wins and seven minor placings from just 27 starts, Rare Diamond has earned $243,600 in prizemoney.

And now being a stakes winning daughter of Redoute’s Choice – her value as a broodmare when her racing days are over has soaring into six figures.

Rare Diamond ($14) cruised to the line two lengths clear of the last start stakes winner and fellow Magic Millions graduate Dual Chamber ($5.50).

Acquired ($10) was another length back in third, just ahead of $14 pop Casholet.

Timothy Bell and Gordon YorkeBy outstanding Arrowfield Stud based sire Redoute’s Choice, Rare Diamond is from an unraced Polish Laughter mare who hails from a top international family.

Lo Zimbello, the dam of Rare Diamond and two other city performed multiple winners, is from a half sister to Group One winning sire King of Kings and his group winning siblings General Monash and Lucky.

Rare Diamond is the 61st stakes winner for Redoute’s Choice.
