Record Breaking Win For Irish Dream

Irish Dream continued her winning run for new connections when she scored a record breaking win at Eagle Farm today.

A daughter of Falbrav, Irish Dream is now trained by Peter Moody after earning black type during her early career for Gillian Heinrich.

The mare was recently sold by the Heinrich Bloodstock team for $150,000 at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale. She was purchased at the sale by Segenhoe Stud.

At her third run in the Segenhoe colours, the four-year-old mare notched her second win when she scored a dashing win in the Carlton Mid Handicap (1200m).

The classy mare stopped the clock in a slick 1 minute 9.68 seconds – a new class record for the six furlong trip at the famous Brisbane track.

Moody has been impressed with the form of Irish Dream since joining his stable – albeit all of it from Brisbane.

The mare is likely to have a campaign in Melbourne prior to heading to stud from the Segenhoe team.

“Segenhoe Stud bought her off Gillian Heinrich and I’ve seen enough of her to give her a go in the spring or alternatively she might be covered and have one or two starts in Melbourne,” Moody told AAP.

“She’s already stakes placed but if she can add some more black type it will only add to her career as a broodmare.”

“That was her third run in 20 days so it was a top effort,” Moody added.

Luke Nolen had the sit and sprint style mare well positioned throughout before bursting clear in the home straight and then holding out the closing Lifebuoy by a half length.

By former champion international galloper Falbrav, Irish Dream is now the winner of four races and she earned black type when second in the listed Just Now Handicap.

She is from a two-year-old French winning daughter of Irish River – who is a half sister to the international stakes winner Entice.

Further back it is the same family as international stars including Agnes Digital, Blushing Groom, Royal Kingdom and Canaveral.

Meanwhile, fellow Segenhoe Stud purchase Swiss Rose ran boldly in today’s Group Three Healy Stakes.

A $300,000 purchase, Swiss Rose was already a stakes winner prior to purchase from the Heinrich stable and today she earned her new connections $17,500.
