Royal Lawyer A Hit On Debut

As star Melbourne galloper Shocking prepares for Saturday’s Caulfield Cup other graduates of the Magic Millions National Horses in Training Sale are starring around the globe.

In Malaysia over the weekend it was the turn of Royal Lawyer to make his racetrack debut and he did it with a bang.

Purchased by Johnny Lim for $45,000 from the Centaur Park Thoroughbreds draft at last year’s sale, Royal Lawyer treated his rivals with contempt.

It was fitting that Centaur’s Neville Auld was on track to see the first run of the promising son of Al Samer.

“It was a great performance,” Auld said. “He won by four and three quarter lengths and he did it so well.”

“He settled seventh early, back on the inside and then came off heels and finished strongly to win.”

Another Centaur Park graduate, a filly by Snippetson, won in New South Wales over the weekend.

Auld is looking forward to this year’s sale in two weeks time at the Gold Coast.

“We’ve got a draft of 23 heading up and we’ve got some really nice horses to go under the hammer,” he said.

Centaur Park Thoroughbreds have one of the biggest drafts in the sale.

Another of the sale’s biggest vendors, Washpool Lodge has another outstanding line up heading the Gold Coast.

Washpool’s recent graduates of the sale include Melbourne Cup winner Shocking, international star Viva Pronto and recent impressive Caulfield winner Seriously Good.

This year the Washpool Lodge team will present youngsters by leading sires including More Than Ready, Falvelon, Foreplay, Dehere, Lucky Owners, Hussonet and Show a Heart.

Another vendor looking forward to the auction is Queensland’s Kenmore Lodge.

Interestingly, every horse Kemore has sold at the National Horses in Training Sale that has raced, has won.

Victoria’s Nolen Racing is another vendor with recent winning graduates that is preparing for this year’s auction.

That operation is represented by youngsters by sires including Nadeem, California Dane, Fastnet Rock, O’Reilly and Dane Shadow.

The sale will be held at the Gold Coast on October 27 and 28.
