Run for LeviThe value of buying from the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale was highlighted at Doomben today when promising juvenile Run for Levi snuck home in the listed Phoenix Stakes (1350m) at Doomben today.

A youngster by Hussonet, Run for Levi for sold as a foal at foot when his dam Madam Bligh was offered by Vinery Stud at the 2008 National Broodmare Sale.

A ten time winner and half sister to Group One winning sprinter Spark of Life, Madam Bligh was purchased by the team from Patinack Farm for $340,000.

Since being sold, Madam Bligh has produced the South African stakes performer and multiple winner Anaboo.

Run for Levi ($41), who was also a winner two runs back at the Sunshine Coast, started at big odds but showed plenty of fight when he kicked brilliantly in the straight to win well.

Run for Levi returnsAt the post he held a short half head margin over the Gillian Heinrich trained Big Chance ($12), while the favourite Ringa Ringa Rosie ($4.80) charged home late to finish third, another long head back.

Run for Levi, ridden to victory by Nash Rawiller for John Thompson, has now won two of his six starts and he looks to have an extremely bright future.

Meanwhile, Madam Bligh has a weanling colt by Patinack Farm’s exciting young sire Casino Prince.

And she was served last spring by Arrowfield Stud based sire star Redoute’s Choice.

The 2010 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale will commence at 10am (Qld time) tomorrow (Sunday) at the famous Gold Coast sales complex.
