Sequalo Colt Tops Final Gold Coast Session

The 2011 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale came to an end this afternoon when the sixth session of the auction was held.

Over $1.28 million was grossed as 129 lots were sold at an average price of almost $10,000 and a clearance rate of almost 70 per cent.

The top price for the day was $45,000 was a colt by leading Lyndhurst Stud based sire Sequalo.

Magic Millions, acting as agent for a Queensland based client, purchased the colt.

He was one of six yearlings to sell for $30,000 or more on the last day of the popular auction.

Magic Millions’ Tony Williams snapped up the day’s second most expensive lot on behalf of the Aquanita Racing team, a colt by Mossman for $43,000.

The top price give for a filly today was $40,000 – for a Not a Single Doubt sister to Perth juvenile Single Spice.

Offered by Maudsland Thoroughbred Spelling the filly was purchased by Paul Willets and Belmont Bloodstock after fighting off the team that race Magic Millions Classic winner Karuta Queen.

“Today rounded out a successful six session sale,” Magic Millions Managing Director Stephen Silk reported.

“The bargain hunters were out in force and there was great value on offer.”

“Over the past week and a half we’re seen hundreds of horses sold at the Magic Millions complex and there’s no doubt a good percentage of them will graduate to stardom on the track.”

“Obviously the highlight of the auction was the sale of the Redoute’s Choice-Sunday Joy colt to leading Melbourne trainer Peter Moody for $1.15 million last week.”

The Magic Millions Yearling Sale focus now switches to Perth where Belmont will host that city’s popular 2011 auction from February 9 to 13.

“The Perth Sale has a proud history of producing high class gallopers at good value prices and we’re sure this year’s sale will be the same.”
