The 2010 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale officially came to a close on the Gold Coast this afternoon when the third session of the sale was held.
Over $318,000 was given for 77 attractive youngsters with value buying the order of the day.
The top price for the day was $30,000 – given by New Zealand based J & I Bloodstock for a Sequalo colt from Porsha.
He was one of four weanlings snapped up by New Zealand buyers today – adding on to the 67 they had purchased at a spend of $3,852,000 during the first sessions of the sale on Wednesday and Thursday.
Today’s average price of $4,137 was 71 per cent higher than last year’s corresponding session. The gross also climbed an impressive 67 per cent on 2009.
“Buyers today at the Gold Coast would have been delighted with the value that was on offer,” Magic Millions Managing Director David Chester said.
“We had weanlings sell from everywhere between $500 and $30,000 – the attractive youngsters were well sought out by buyers from both Australia and New Zealand.”
The sale action switches to the National Broodmare Sale which commences at 10am (Qld time) on Sunday.
“We have some really outstanding prospects to go under the hammer,” Chester added.
“There’s already been some good interest in the sale and we are sure prospective buyers will be impressed with the mares that are up for sale.”
