Stakes Winning Mares Join National Sale


Stakes winning mares Princess Marizza and Hanabananah will go under the hammer at June’s Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale at the Gold Coast.

The outstanding breeding prospects have joined the star studded Robyn Wise draft and are sure to attract plenty of attention when they are put up for sale.

Princess Marizza, a five time winning and nine time placed daughter of Scenic, is a stakes winning mare who hails from the family of champion galloper Durbridge.

A winner of the CS Hayes Memorial Cup at Morphettville, Princess Marizza was second in a Group Two Sunline Stakes (to Zarita) and third in a Group Three Matron Stakes, Group Three Tesio Stakes and Group Three SA Oaks and two other listed events.

Princess MarizzaShe is one of three stakes performers produced by the twice stakes winning Nassipour mare Rose of Marizza.

Her half sister Buckle My Shoe won the Group Two Royal Stakes in New Zealand, while another half relation Twilight Rose is a four time city winner who was second in the listed Centaurea Trophy.

High quality Scenic mares are amongst the most sought after in Australasia. He is the sire of the dams of stars including Niconero, Nicconi, Lazer Sharp, Von Costa de Hero, Book of Kells, Demerit, Gabbidon and fellow National Sale entrant Baby Corn.

HanabananahAlso heading to the famous Gold Coast auction is the last start stakes winner Hanabananah.

A five-year-old daughter of King Charlemagne, Hanabananah edged out the proven big race winning stablemates Impressive Eagle and Augusta Proud to win in the $100,400 Proud Miss Stakes at Morphettville.

Since joining the Mark Minervini stable, Hanabananah has been a revelation – winning three of her six starts.

All up Hanabananah has won seven of her 25 starts and is a five time city winner.

Hanabananah is one of two winners from her dam – the unraced Langfuhr mare Langtryst.

HanabananahLangtryst is a half sister to Group Three winning juvenile Ocean Ranch as well as the dam of the prolific 13 time winner and dual group winner Kootoomootoo.

Their addition to the National Broodmare Sale supplementary enhances the quality draft being prepared for the auction by renowned Queensland horsewoman Robyn Wise.

Another star member of the Wise draft is the WA Oaks winner Cassandara Shadow – a half sister to the country’s top staying three-year-old Shoot Out.

Other members of the draft include the stakes performers Locus Standi, Karla Keys, Moet Magic, Sky Drama and Huiskes.
