Starcraft Stock Popular On Gold Coast

Highly regarded two-year-old Starlin sold for $320,000 and topped today’s Magic Millions April Monthly Sale at the Gold Coast.

The colt, who placed at Eagle Farm on debut in October, was purchased by Queensland based owner Peter Wildman.

The youngster is from a city winning three quarter sister to Parfumier and half sister to Patou – the stakes performed dam of Golden Slipper winner Polar Success.

It is the same family of the AJC Oaks winner Circles of Gold – best known these days as the dam of champion gallopers and exciting young stallions Elvstroem and Haradasun.

Starlin was one of 77 lots to be sold at the sale which boasted an outstanding clearance rate of over 96 per cent. The average price on the day was over $9,300.

The top selling for a youngster by Starcraft wasn’t restricted to Starlin. A yearling colt by the sire offered by Oakwood Farm was purchased by Magic Millions as agent for $90,000.

Yearlings by Sequalo ($50,000), Charge Forward ($40,000) and Snippetson ($31,000) also proved popular with buyers.

Magic Millions Managing Director David Chester was thrilled with the high clearance rate and strong prices.

“This would probably have to be the best monthly sale we’ve held,” Chester commented. “The quality lots sold well, but there was still plenty of value to be had.”

“A number of buyers have had great success buying young unproven as well as tried stock over the years and these buyers keep coming back.”

Chester said the attention of Magic Millions was now squarely on the Southern Hemisphere’s premier breeding stock sale – the National Sale – which commences on May 26.

“We hope the buoyant selling this year continues as we have a large and quality packed sale coming with the National Sale.”

“Selling commences with the National Weanling Sale and will continue through the Broodmare and Yearling Sales with over 2100 lots on offer.”

“The catalogues will be available soon and we’re sure our clients will be impressed,” Chester summed up.
