Successful National Sale Comes To A Close

The value hunters soaked up the sunshine and left with some bargains on the last day of the 2012 Magic Millions National Sale at the Gold Coast.

A general session of yearlings and a session of racehorses were both held today during a short day’s selling with over $600,000 traded.

Top price for the day came in the supplementary catalogue for the National Racehorse Sale when the promsing Quick’s the Word was sold for $64,000.

Magic Millions signed for the two-year-old Shamardal filly on behalf of a New South Wales based client.

The Darley draft provided the next five top sellers in the Racehorse Sale headed up by Typeface ($37,000), Kiev ($30,000), Hadron ($25,000) and Intaglio ($16,000).

All but two of the racehorses offered this afternoon were sold at an average price of almost $5,000. The clearance rate was 97 per cent and the gross $310,850.

Earlier in the day a general session of yearlings were offered and a pair of Baramul Stud colts by Bel Danoro shared top honours when selling for $22,000.

The colt from Geography was purchased by Magic Millions, for a Singapore based buyer, while the youngster from Secret Sister was snapped up by Queensland’s Furlong Stud Partnership.

The yearling session grossed over $307,000 for 42 lots sold at an average price of $7,318 and clearance rate of 62 per cent.

Today’s sales pushed the National Sale gross to $37,664,950 for the past two weeks of selling.

Since the opening session of the National Broodmare Sale late last month some 1082 lots have been sold at an impressive sale average of almost $35,000 and clearance rate of 79 per cent.

“Buyers at the complex today met with some exceptional value,” Magic Millions Managing Director Vin Cox reported.

“Today’s action rounded out a big couple of weeks selling at the Gold Coast and we’re delighted with the results throughout the National Sale.”

“It was pleasing to see such a great buying bench on hand right from Session One and today we have numerous interstate and international buyers at the complex.”

Cox said Magic Millions’ attention would now turn to the Perth Winter Thoroughbred Sale to be held at the Belmont Park Sales Complex on July 29.

Entries for that sale are closing soon and entry forms can be found on the Magic Millions website.
