Super Mare Forbidden Love Does it Again

Forbidden Love continued her red hot run and made it three Group One wins on the day for Magic Millions graduates when she cruised home in the George Ryder Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill.
Now a triple Group One winner, today’s big win her third in succession from runs this campaign.

After winning the Group Two Guy Walter Stakes in February she backed up seven days later to win the Group One Canterbury Stakes. And now a fortnight later it’s another Group One on her favoured track surface.

The daughter of All Too Hard, a $150,000 Gold Coast Yearling Sale buy for co-trainer Richard Freedman, loves rain affected tracks – her other Group One win in the Surround came on a soft five.

“She might just be the best wet tracker in the world,” a delighted Richard Freedman said with a laugh. “She just loves it on a wet track.”

“Hughie (Bowman) gave her a lovely ride.”

“I was a bit worried a couple of hundred metres after the start where she was bailed up behind a few, but then a gap came and Hughie put her in a lovely spot.”

“At the top of the straight I knew she was going to accelerate and she’s very hard to get past when it’s wet.”

Freedman said the mare held a special place in his heart – after he found her in the Bhima Thoroughbreds draft and purchased her at the Magic Millions.

“I bought the mare and not for a lot of money and the guys have had a great run with her. Michael has done a great job with her over at Randwick.”

“To win a million dollar race is what dreams are made of – it’s great it really is!”

“She may not have been a star at the sale – but she’s a real star of the stable and she will always have a soft spot in our hearts,” Freedman added.

Forbidden Love was bred by former star athlete and South Australian businessman and breeder Kerry O’Brien.

She is one of three winners, from three to race, for the stakes performed More Than Ready mare Juliet’s Princess.

As it stands Forbidden Love boasts over $2 million in earnings from eight wins and six placings – all achieved in just 22 career runs. What a beauty she is!
