Toowoomba horses made it a race to race double on Magic Millions Day when popular galloper Bold Glance did best in a thrilling $400,000 R.M.Williams Magic Millions Cup (1400m) at the Gold Coast. Hilton described the tough five-year-old as a stable favourite. “It’s just unbelievable,” a tearful Hilton said moments after the win. “This bloke has always been our stable favourite and it’s just unbelievable.” “He was himself today. He had a bit of weight the other day and he doesn’t really like the cushion (track) – but we needed to run him and that got him right for today’s race.” “This race was always our target. And we’re just so happy to win it.” Hilton said today’s win eclipsed the thrill he had when fellow stable runner Poor Judge won a group race at Flemington over the Melbourne Cup Carnival. “It’s just the best – it’s great.” “This is the race we set set him for – it’s unbelievable.” Hilton said he was thrilled to be able to make it a feature race double for Toowoomba following the win of Temple of Boom in the Myer Magic Millions Sprint. “After the week we’ve had on the range it’s almost embarassing,” Hilton said. “We just couldn’t be happier with the horse and it’s just unreal to be here today.” “It’s been really hard watching the devastation. With so many people missing and the children.” Bold Glance stopped the clock in 1-23.23 as he beat Zero Rock by a long neck. Captain Sonador, a proven Group One winner, was another long head back in third place. A $21,000 purchase for the Hilton Thoroughbreds team at the 2007 Premier (QTIS 600) Yearling Sale, Bold Glance has now earned his joyous connections over $476,000. He is a graduate of Lyndhurst Stud Farm and is by their star resident sire Sequalo. He is a full or half brother to 10 winners including the black type galloper Sahara Hot Nights. His dam Flirting Glance, a daughter of Al Ameen, was a Sydney winner as a two-year-old and is a half sister to the dam of Gosford Classic winner Greenbacks. |
