Mr UnforgettableMr Unforgettable capped a magnificent day in the saddle for 18-year-old apprentice Blake Spriggs when they teamed up to win the listed Winter Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill.

One of five winners on a memorable afternoon, Mr Unforgettable got him a driving finish to win in a race record time.

Spriggs’ other winners on the day were Crossbow, African Prince, Atomic Force and Miss Independent.

But it was his win aboard the Kevin Moses trained Mr Unforgettable at stakes level that was his most impressive.

Mr Unforgettable“Blake is riding very well and should continue to do so,” Moses told AAP.

“And it’s great to see Mr Unforgettable win again.

“I took him to Queensland because I thought he would be a chance in the Stradbroke.

“But he got sick with a really bad virus. He ran fifth in a lead-up race and the vet who looked at him after the race couldn’t believe he’d been able to do that.

“We left the horse up there to recover and I really have to thank (trainer) Alan Bailey who looked after him at his place.”

Mr UnforgettableMr Unforgettable, who’s run at the last three Magic Millions racedays on the Gold Coast, is by Rubiton and was purchased as a yearling in 2006 for $62,500.

He won his first race when at three he won the $100,000 Magic Millions Maiden Plate.

A year later he was back at the Gold Coast where he ran fifth in the Class Six Plate won by Zero Rock.

And earlier this year he ran an excellent third to subsequent group winner Walking or Dancing in the $500,000 Magic Millions Cup.

The Corumbene Stud graduate was purchased from the Gold Coast sale ring by leading Sydney based bloodstock agent Vin Cox.

In winning the Winter Stakes, Mr Unforgettable added more black type to a family well proven at stakes level.

His dam, the unraced Luskin Star mare La Marama, is a half sister to three stakes performers  – two in Australia and one in South Africa.

Another half sister Creola is the grandam of another current Magic Millions star Tallow – a winner this season of the Group Three Vanity Stakes at Flemington.

Mr Unforgettable is the 40th individual stakes winner for Rubiton – a Cox Plate winner as a racehorse and sire.
