Updates Flying In For National Mares And Weanlings

The group race wins on Saturday of Sea Siren and Linton led a swag of important pedigree updates as the Magic Millions National Broodmare and Weanling Sale approaches.

Sea Siren, a daughter of red hot sire Fastnet Rock, led home former Australian Horse of the Year Scenic Blast in a record breaking performance in the Group One BTC Cup at Doomben on Saturday.

The John O’Shea prepared three-year-old filly now heads to the Doomben 10,000 and Stradbroke Handicap after scoring a hugely valuable win at racing’s elite level.

Snaps (Lot 63) and Reshoot (Lot 224), two lots in the National Broodmare Sale, hail from the black type filled family of Sea Siren.

Reshoot in particular is an interesting lot. She is a three quarter sister to Express a Smile – the dam of Sea Siren and fellow stakes winners Lady Dehere, Oratorio and Discorsi.

The Lyndhurst Stud Farm offering is being presented at the sale after being covered last spring by Fastnet Rock’s Queensland Guineas winning son Rothesay. The resultant foal will be a three quarter relation in blood to Saturday’s Group One winner.

Linton, first up for new owners, rattled home to win Saturday’s Group Three RA Lee Stakes at Morphettville and provide a significant boost for the National Weanling Sale.

Lot 704 in the catalogue is a half brother to Linton by Flying Spur’s group winning sprint son and proven stakes producing sire Jet Spur.

The colt is from the three time winning Centaine mare Our Heather and is being offered through the draft of Oakwood Farm – acting as agent for Queensland’s Kiernan Pastoral Pty Ltd.
