Zenyatta Boost For National Sale

Breeders looking to buy into the success story that is Zenyatta – the unbeaten champion of America – need look no further than June’s Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale.

On Friday the champion daughter of Street Cry extended her winning streak to 16 with a demolition of her rivals in the $500,000 Apple Blossom Invitational at Oaklawn Park.

Mountcat, a beautifully bred of Mountain Cat, will attract plenty of attention at the famous Gold Coast sales ring when she is offered as part of the Glenmore Park Stud Dispersal Sale.

The French performed mare, who’s three runners to date are all multiple winners in France, is a half sister to champion broodmare Vertigineux.

As well as being the dam of triple Group One winner Balance and fellow Oaks winner Where’s Bailey, Vertigineux is the dam of the mighty Zenyatta.

And importantly for prospective buyers at the Gold Coast, Mountcat will be offered in foal to Street Sense – a Kentucky Derby and Breeders’ Cup winning son of Zenyatta’s sire Street Cry.

“What an incredible opportunity to buy a mare carrying such a close relation to one of the greatest mares the world has ever seen,” Magic Millions Managing Director David Chester commented.

“You can just imagine what sort of value the resultant foal will have and you could book her straight into Street Cry and produce a three quarter relation to a world champion.”

“Opportunities like this don’t come up often – but as we’ve told everybody already – this year’s National Broodmare Sale is packed with quality.”

“I know we haven’t had such an international catalogue before with a number of young stakes winning mares from abroad to go under the hammer.”

Chester said the three stakes winning mares in foal to Medaglia d’Oro, the sire of Rachel Alexandra, will also attract plenty of attention.

“We all know Medaglia d’Oro is coming to stand at Darley in the Hunter Valley this spring – but these mares will give Australian breeders a head start with one of the world’s hottest sires.”

The international stakes winning mares set to go under the hammer in June include Tejano’s Oasis, Polynesian Kitty, Celestial Flight, Lady Cat, Loving New, France Soir, Autumn Lodge, Easy Tee, Come Fly Away, Ms Seneca Rock, High and Low, Galateada, Gathering Storm and Folklore.
