Zipping’s Half Sister A Likely Millions Star

Quality Melbourne stayer Zipping made history this afternoon when he scored a popular win in the Group Two $350,000 Sandown Classic (2400m).

Winning the race for the fourth consecutive time Zipping capped another successful spring campaign and had the team from Coolmore Stud cheering when he powered away from Adelaide Yearling Sale graduate Exceptionally to win.

The team from Coolmore Stud are preparing Zipping’s half sister by Encosta de Lago for January’s 2011 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

“She’s a big, strong, scopy filly,” O’Brien said. “A terrific mover.”

“She’s a real athlete. She has tons of quality and she will be one of the stars from our draft.”

“Her pedigree is obviously an impressive one as well,” O’Brien summed up.

The Encosta de Lago filly is the latest yearling produced by the Irish bred Grand Lodge mare Social Scene.

A winner at Sandown in the UK as a two-year-old, Social Scene is a half sister to the four stakes winners including the Group One winners Memories and Scorpion.

Zipping, now the winner of 16 races and over $4.52 million, is one of three winners for Social Scene – the other two (Work the Room and Regreagan) have also been winners on city tracks.

“It’s something you can only dream of,” a proud Nick Williams said moments after Zipping won the Classic.

“Dad has been involved in the industry for 45 or 50 years and it’s fantastic to have a horse as tough as this and achieved such great things.”

“He is probably not the most talented horse he has ever owned, but he’s certainly the toughest.”

“He’s just a freak of nature. He’s just so tough. There’s not many of them that are like this,” Williams summed up.
