Rockhampton’s Historic Sale Concludes

A colt by Ferocity has topped the historic Capricornia Yearling Sale after making $27,000 to the bid of Magic Millions as agent.

Magic Millions Bloodstock Manager, Paul Knight commented “He has been purchased by a Gold Coast syndicate and will be trained by Gold Coast trainer Toby Edmonds.”

Magic Millions acting managing director, David Chester said, “There was a very strong crowd in attendance, but the sale was much as expected, we were hoping for a little better but there is no doubt the effects of recent disasters in the region were reflected in the sale.”

“Magic Millions are committed to developing this sale on behalf of the Central Queensland Breeders, and given the events in recent months we are even more determined to grow this sale over the next few years.”

“The well presented better horses in the catalogue sold well, and vendors have reported a high volume of inspections took place.”

President of the Central Queensland Thoroughbred Breeders (CQTBA), Ross Shannon commented,

“The CQTBA were extremely pleased with the professionalism showed by the MM team during conduct of sale. Magic Millions did an excellent job in getting Brisbane based trainers to attend the sale.”

“The buying bench was very discerning and selective with their purchases, some very well presented and athletic types sold well. Unfortunately some of the horses in the sale were under prepared and therefore didn’t achieve their best results. One of the reasons for this may have been that some vendors were adversely affected by the extensive wet season and flooding in many areas in Central Queensland earlier this year.”

“CQTBA and it’s membership intends to work very closely with Magic Millions in the coming months to discuss all avenues for improving the future bloodstock sales in this region.”

“Despite all this we are certain that many horses from this sale today, will find their way to the winners circle.”

Graduates of today’s auction will be eligible to pay up for the 2012 $5.05 million Magic Millions Race Series, and $180,000 Capricornia Yearling Sale Race Series.

A total of $5,230,000 in prize-money will be on offer to graduates of the Capricornia Yearling Sale, with a range of feature races including the world famous $2 million BMW Magic Millions 2YO Classic held on the Gold Coast each January.
