A Juvenile Season To Remember

Every owner loves a winner and if that initial win (or two) comes in the first 18 months of racing it’s a major bonus.

Magic Millions graduates have a history of giving connections that early return – featuring in the winner’s stalls of two-year-olds races around Australia and abroad.

The 2010/11 Australian racing season came to a close over the weekend and the winning streak of MM juveniles kept on rolling.

The streak of success went into overdrive over the past two months – with a staggering 202 wins by two-year-old graduates of Australia’s most winning thoroughbred sales company.

Outstanding Singapore youngster Mr Big completed the haul when he went three for three in the $200,000 Group Three Magic Millions Juvenile Championship at Kranji on Sunday.

Prepared by Michael Freedman, Mr Big was purchased by Sam Pritchard-Gordon’s Victorian Bloodstock Agency for $21,000 at last year’s Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

The son of Elusive Quality was sold through the draft of the Mitchell family’s Yarraman Park Stud.

Magic Millions juvenile graduates have been starring on the international circuit and Mr Big isn’t alone as the champion of his region.

During the equivalent period of Australia’s 2010/11 racing season Magic Millions boasted the best two-year-olds in New Zealand, South Africa, Hong Kong, Korea and of course Singapore.

In Singapore the results have been stunning. During 2011 some 23 races have been won by two-year-olds – 22 of them were sold at auction – Magic Millions selling 21 of them to their current connections.

Buyers will get their next chance to buy a likely star Magic Millions juvenile of the 2011/12 season when the upcoming National Horses in Training Sale is held on the Gold Coast.

Breeze ups will be held at the Gold Coast and at Seymour in Victoria through September prior to the sale in Queensland on October 19 and 20.
